Christian Bale Gets ‘Terminated’

Christian Bale may be thrilling movie-going audiences this weekend as Batman in The Dark Knight but he’s also about to take on another movie franchise as a different kind of hero. Terminator: Salvation, the 4th movie in the franchise, opens in theaters next summer but the first trailer for the film is showing ahead of showings of The Dark Knight. Here is one of the first promo pics to be released from the film:

Something tells me that Mr. Bale has a hero complex ;) To be honest, I have no problem with Christian playing both Batman and John Connor. The man is a great character actor, I think he’ll be great in the new Terminator movie (movies?). After the jump, check out video and a few screencaps from the first teaser trailer for Terminator: Salvation

Thanks to the new FOX TV series Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, there is renewed interest and excitement for the franchise. I understand that new eps of The Sarah Connor Chronicles will help link up the TV series to this new movie. What a great way to revive a movie franchise that I had thought was long dead.

Eva Longoria Bites Vicki B’s Style

Eva Longoria (who recently got herself a haircut from her husband Tony Parker) and BFF Vicki B. stepped out on the town last night to enjoy dinner together at Eva’s Hollywood eatery Beso … here are a few pics of the almost identical duo:

Who’s responsible for Eva Longoria’s short new do? Husband Tony Parker! “Tony cut my hair!” the actress, 33, tells Entertainment Tonight. “I had to cut my hair for the show because Gabrielle has short hair,” she says. “I wore a wig in the last episode, but I didn’t want to wear a wig this whole season, so I was like, ‘I’m going to cut it!’” She says her hairstylist Ken Paves forced Parker to make the first move. “He said, ‘Tony, you’re going to do the first cut, so she can’t be mad at me,’” she says. “Tony did the first snip. He did more and then he did more and then Kenny cleaned it up.”

Clearly, Eva and VB have been hanging out too much. They’re starting to look the same. Mebbe Eva is actively trying to become VB … she’s got the sports star husband and the haircut … all she needs is a new set of over-sized plastic breasts and a personality lobotomy and she’ll be all set. Careful what you wish for, Eva.

Who Wants To Dress Like Avril Lavigne?

Last weekend we got our first look at Heidi Montag’s new Club Collection from her Heidiwood for Anchor Blue clothing line and today we get our first look at another clothing line from another celeb-type person. Avril Lavigne has teamed up with Kohl’s to offer a line of clothing called Abbey Dawn that is “inspired” by Avril’s fashion sensibility. Essentially, a line of faux punk clothes at affordable prices … just in time for your Back to School shopping needs. In fact, Kohl’s teamed up with a bunch of other musicians for other clothing lines inspired by those folks as well. Here are a few pieces from Avril’s Abbey Dawn line:

Kohl’s Department Stores today announced its 2008 back-to-school marketing campaign designed to appeal to a cross-generational group of shoppers. The campaign will be “Inspired by the Artists…worn by you.” The campaign will feature strong-performing juniors’ and young men’s denim brands connected with relevant musical artists, including: Lenny Kravitz and Levi’s; Avril Lavigne designing Abbey Dawn; Hayden Panettiere and Candie’s; Plain White T’s and Urban Pipeline; The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus and Tony Hawk; and Vanessa Carlton and So. The cross-generational program is designed to appeal not only to teens, but also to mothers, as both groups influence purchasing decisions. Denim will be the common thread throughout the “Inspired” campaign. “The ‘Inspired’ campaign is an idea that taps into the dynamic convergence between fashion, music and culture,” said Julie Gardner, executive vice president and chief marketing officer for Menomonee Falls-based Kohl’s Department Stores.

Calling all complicated SK8R Girls, THESE fashions are for YOU! Clearly the pink capri sweats are the perfect things to wear for every occasion … especially if you want people to throw rocks at you :)

My VDub Comes Home, Mike Gets Older

OY! Yesterday was a very long day … since I only got 4 hours sleep the night before, I wasn’t sure if I would be able to make it thru the day … but fortunately there was enough exciting stuff to take care of to keep me going. At long last, I finally took possession of my new 2009 VW Tiguan crossover! All my life I’ve only had small, sporty cars so this time around I wanted to get something a bit bigger but still sleek and cool. I was looking for a crossover (SUV coupe) and was very happy to learn that VW *just* came out with their own crossover model. I am a big VW fan, I can’t bear to part with my VW Beetle (which is back home in Detroit) so I was very happy that I had a new VW option this time around. I placed the order in May and the car arrived from Wolfsburg, Germany Thursday … and I got to bring my baby home yesterday:

I am so happy … the car is sharp as hell :) I didn’t have much time to play with it cuz last night a bunch of us got together for Mike’s birthday dinner at Bella and party at Paul and Corey’s … here are a few pics:

The night was very chill, very fun. Mike’s friends Blair, Adam and Eric (along with his sister Jill and brother Jeff) joined us for the festivities as did Darion’s friend Cameron. A great time was had by all.

Today, I’m keeping holed up in my apartment … I have to pack for NY/London/Paris and take care of a million other things before I fly out tomorrow. I feel so fortunate to have great friends in my life. I’m looking forward to traveling with David and seeing Steph and Alek in France. I gotta say, I life is good …

Nicole Richie To Guest Star On ‘Chuck’

The new issue of Entertainment Weekly is devoted primarily to a preview of the San Diego Comic Con which runs next weekend but there are other great previews and spoilers in the new issue as well. Here is a promo pic of Nicole Richie from her upcoming guest star stint on the NBC show Chuck, wherein she plays a “bitchy mean girl” cheerleader who comes back guns blazing:

I don’t watch the show but I am intrigued that they asked Nicole to play a role like this. She looks great. I will deffo keep my eyes open for this particular ep (scheduled to air in October) cuz I kinda want to watch Nic kick some ass.

All American Rejects Don The Milk ‘Stache

Those good ol’ boys from Stillwater, Oklahoma, All American Rejects, are the latest folks to join the Got Milk? campaign to promote the cow juice and to announce a new contest where AAR fans are encouraged to create original poster artwork to announce the release of their new album, which is due out this Fall. Here is the new Body By Milk campaign photo of All American Rejects and some info on their poster contest:

“Dairy Little Secret. Want a body that rocks? Listen up. Some studies suggest teens who choose milk instead of sugary drinks tend to be leaner, and the protein helps build muscle. It’s one drink we don’t reject.”

As they finish up their third album− the follow up to their two-time Platinum award-winning sophomore CD, “Move Along”− and embark on a nationwide tour, it’s no secret that The All-American Rejects need to stay in tip-top shape. Long hours in the recording studio and on stage call for a fit body and plenty of energy. That’s why the members of the multi-Platinum award-winning rock band include milk in their daily diets, which along with eating right and exercise, helps them stay healthy, lean and fit. Band members Tyson Ritter, Nick Wheeler, Mike Kennerty and Chris Gaylor are the latest celebrities to join the “Body By Milk” campaign, which encourages teens to drink three glasses of lowfat or fat free milk everyday, eat right and be active to stay lean and healthy. Other stars to recently sport the ’stache include Miley Cyrus, Rihanna, Hayden Panettiere and Steve Nash. The All-American Rejects are looking to Body By Milk fans to design a creative poster to announce the release of their latest album – due out in the fall. The winning design, selected by the Rejects themselves, will inspire a poster that will be displayed at concerts, music stores and schools all around the country. The winner, along with the five top designers also will receive a framed, signed poster of their artwork and a copy of AAR’s latest album. Fans just need to show The Rejects how they, too, rock out with milk – simply by adding some spice to their new Milk Mustache ad. Head to bodybymilk.com to download AAR’s new Milk Mustache ad; then, paint it, draw it, collage it … whatever showcases their love for milk and “AARt!”

OUCH! While the ad copy is a bit cheesy (borderline horrrrrrrrible), I’m glad that the Milk folks have teamed up with my boys from Oklahoma. AAR are such a fun band, it’s great that they continue to get more recognition as their career progresses. The contest sounds fun … I hope all y’all All American Rejects fans out there send in your great submissions.

Beckham Boasts About Major League Soccer

David Beckham attended a news conference in Rutherford, NJ yesterday ahead of and to promote the LA Galaxy game against the New York Red Bulls at Giants Stadium (which is set to take place this afternoon) where he talked at some length about the state of soccer in this country and how people have a misconception about the quality of play in Major League Soccer. Here are a few pics of Becks at yesterday’s press conference:

While the quality of play in the MLS is better than people think, David Beckham said Friday that he believes the it will take time for the U.S.-based league to catch up to some of the world’s better leagues. Beckham said that he is enjoying his first full season with the Los Angeles Galaxy, noting that he had a tough time adjusting last year after arriving in the middle of the season and having to battle an assortment of injuries. The 33-year-old has been healthy this season. His seven assists are tied for second best in the league and his five goals are tied for 10th. “I have enjoyed it,” Beckham said at a news conference to promote Saturday’s game at Giants Stadium against the New York Red Bulls. “Soccer is definitely changing in this country, and it is getting bigger and growing,” Beckham said. “But it is going to take time, and I said that at the start. It’s not just going to happen in a year or two. It’s a long-term plan to raise the profile for this game in this country. I think it has gone well so far.” Beckham has done his job attracting fans. The Galaxy have averaged about 26,000 for home games at the 27,000-seat Home Depot Center. They are doing even better on the road, averaging more than 27,000. The advance sale for Beckham’s second game in the New York metropolitan area was 45,000 on Thursday, which would be the largest single-game crowd for an MLS game this season. His appearance here last year drew about 67,000 … “It’s one of the reasons I moved here, to be a part of growing the game,” said Beckham, who signed with the Galaxy in January 2007 after a standout career with Manchester United and Real Madrid. “Hopefully, people are seeing the changes which we are putting in. The attendance is up 20 percent and shirt sales up 780 percent. So it is going well. That’s what we need in this country.” Beckham laughed when asked whether fans were coming to see him because of his ability as a soccer player or his celebrity status. “I don’t really care as long as they are here and watching the game,” the midfielder said.

Hee hee, you know … that is the perfect attitude. The man is very savvy about knowing what people want and giving it to them. I think it’s absolutely on target to say that many people attend his soccer games just watch him and because of his celebrity status and he is very wise to not only accept that fact but to embrace it. He’s right … as long as people keep coming (for whatever reason) there is a likely chance that the culture of soccer will improve in this country. Becks’s value to American soccer isn’t his ability to play amazing soccer, it’s his ability to fill seats and expose more people to the game over all. He is deffo worth his weight in gold.

After the jump, check out a few photos of Becksie doing a bit of training at Giants Stadium in NJ (PSST! there’s a shirtless pic in the bunch) …

Woot! He’s a hottie! He is just want the MLS needs … pretty eyecandy who can do tricks for money :)

Guess Who Hates ‘Hating’

Can you guess which newly married couple, just returned to SoCal after an extended post-honeymoon vacay, stepped out on the town last night requesting that folks “Stop Hating”?

After the jump, find out who the suavely dressed gentleman and his lovely wife are …

It’s Mr. & Mrs. Cannon, y’all:

LOL. You know, I love giving Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon a hard time for their semi-crazy love affair/quickie marriage but even I have to admit they’ve got a great sense of humor. Nick is a real jokster with his message t-shirt and Mimi is a real sport to be seen in public with her under-dressed, junior groom. Their marriage continues to defy expectation with every day that passes that they remain married … good for them! I prolly won’t Stop Hating (and, to be totally fair, I’m not really “hating” when I tease and pick on them … I’m just like to josh with them) but I do like that Nick and Mimi seem to have a great attitude about the attention they receive.

Jennifer Garner Hides/Shows Her Bun In The Oven

Earlier this week, US Weekly reported that an ex co-star of Jennifer Garner revealed that she is 5 months pregnant with her next child but, thus far, there has been no official confirmation from Jennifer Garner or her husband Ben Affleckso of course, the focus shifts to her to see if she might be offering any clues to confirm the report. Here are a couple pics of Jen out and about this week — one pic shows her curiously holding a shopping bag in front of her belly and the other gives a small peek at her bare (possible) bump:

Meh … these pics reveal nothing but I suppose one could speculate that Jen may be hiding her stomach to hide her bump — tho, if she were trying to hide it, why run so that her stomach peeks out? I think it would be great if Bennifer v. 2.0 added another member to their family. Violet is getting so big, she needs a baby sibling to maim and torture ;)

"We all shine on"-My Review of the Dark Knight

Everyone knows I'm not the biggest movie goer on the planet. I probably see about 5 movies in the theatre each year. It's somewhere between paying over 10 dollars a ticket and the fact that movies aren't as touching and powerful as they used to be which drives me away from the theatre. But as I am here, wrapping up my time in D.C., I figured that it is only obligation and pure fascination that I see Heath Ledger's "Dark Knight", and that I pay that final tribute to one of the finest actors of our generation by watching his last picture on opening night. Trust me, I'm not the biggest Batman fanatic (although he is much cooler than superman). But something brought me into seeing this movie, and so I did. The story, the action, the gripping affects, and of course, the wit and edge of Heath Ledger's Joker made this movie one of the best I've seen in years, and probably the best super hero film ever made.

I'm not saying it because Heath died on the painful, unforgettable Tuesday January 22, 2008, but because I really was moved by the insightful themes, dialogue, motives, and compelling sequences the film offers. Each scene holds a surprise, a twist and turn. And there, guiding each scene's thrills, is Heath Ledger, making you both smile and shed a tear, thinking endlessly to yourself "this is the last time I'll ever see him.."

More or less, the film's darkness and truths are what separate from every other mediocore movie. It has the uncanny capability to draw you in and the cleverness to twist your mind. Batman's interpersonal struggles, mostly tantalized by the Joker's troublesome tricks, makes you guess and hope they are not going to end up leaving someone innocent dead and caught in the crossfires. The movie, although filled with action, doesn't overdo itself like most superhero movies-it doesn't make you feel like you, the viewer, are incapable of understanding how these characters feel. Many critics have labeled the film positively 'dark', 'depressing', and 'malevolent'-but I believe that through the film's darkness the light of truth shines-that truth is that the film reflects all morals and values society has, and whether or not those values should be prioritized and held in high reguards as they are. Life, as this film points out, simply is reliant upon chance and routine planning. In actuality, although chance is always prevelant, the unexpected is what keeps us on our toes and makes us better people.

With that said, when Heath Ledger left this Earth, it was a reminder of the fragility of life and that we must live each moment, dark or light, with energy and take risks, knowing that any moment may be our last. It's the grim reality, but it's innevitable. Sometimes people realize these truths through books, education, lectures and experiences. Others have to be shown this through powerful films, such as "The Dark Knight".

We all shine on.

"At last....."
Iain and I picked up our wedding rings yesterday. They are beautiful. Today we went and got our wedding licence. Only 15 more days to go. We are having a garden wedding and our parents have bought huge screened tents for dinner. We have the tables and chairs now too. Everything is coming together. My sis got my mom, my "aunt" and her and I hair appointments for the morning fo the wedding and also a room to get ready in. And my mom found a dress today...FINALLY!!!

Work is going great. I am really doing great there. Only 6 more days of my nanny job, then a vacation, and then full time as a lab tech!

Fidelity

I got lost in the sounds I hear in my mind
All these voices I hear in my mind
All these words I hear in mind
All this music, and it breaks my heart...

Suppose I kept on singing love songs, just to break my own fall.

A ‘Trek’ Peek

Entertainment Weekly has gone Comic Book/Sci-Fi/Geek crazy in this week’s new issue (which features The Watchmen on the cover). Here are a few promo posters that tease for the new Star Trek prequel that is due to hit theaters next May:

As you can see, by putting the promo posters of Eric Bana (who plays villiain Nero), Zoë Saldana (who plays Uhura), Zachary Quinto (who plays Spock) and Chris Pine (who plays James Kirk) you get the Star Trek insignia — brills! OMG … I just know JJ Abrams is gonna do a kickass job with this movie … I’m sure everything will be handled perfectly. Woot!

Maddie Brian: One Final Look

OK! magazine posted the last of their exclusive photos of Maddie Briann Spears-Aldridge, including a look at the little tyke’s nursery, on their site — these pics make up the full set of photos from their photoshoot with new mama Jamie Lynn Spears and baby Maddie:

Again, these pics are so cute … much cuter than some of the published photos. Since Maddie’s birth, mother and daughter have yet to venture out into the big bad world … I suppose it won’t be long until we see these two out in the wild.

A Long Day’s ‘Knight’

First things first, I have to send out much Birthday Lurve to my boy Mike who is celebrating his birthday today :) I know the poor guy has to work today but we’re gonna do our best to help him celebrate in style tonight!!!

Lawd … what a day I had yesterday … without going into the painfully long details, my 2009 VW Tiguan crossover arrived from Germany (finally) and I was able to get the deal done last night, which almost didn’t happen. Basically, there was some confusion about stock — blah blah blah — but after a couple of hours, everything was straightened out and the car is mine. I pick it up in a few hours so I won’t be able to do much more work this afternoon. I’m only running on 4 hours sleep and I still have to pick up my car, meet Darion at the IMAX for another viewing of The Dark Knight and then meet up with peeps for Mike’s birthday celebration tonight.

Last night was fun tho, Darion and I met up at the Arc Light at around midnight to watch The Dark Knight (my review is HERE and found the place bumpin … here are a few pics from last night’s fun:

I had the extreme pleasure of meeting Pink readers Kyle and Eileen in the popcorn line before the film (head’s up, you have to check out THIS awesome pic of Kyle’s wife NicoleLee — she’s a Suicide Girl — doing her best Joker impersonation … it’s a kickass photo but be warned the site is semi-NSFW). The only bummer of the night was about 10 mins. into the film someone pulled a fire alarm and shut down the entire theater! It took about 15 mins. to get the movies going again but the Arc Light told us to save our ticket stubs to see a free movie to make up for it. D and I had fun … tho he had a bit more fun, posing with the costumed fans :)

So yeah … I’ve got a lot to do today … I got a car to start lovin’ up on and a good friend’s birthday to celebrate. Happy Friday!!
