xf: puppy love

..and I'm not even gonna mention politics 'cause really...what's there to say anymore? Mad World.

Dude, how did I ever live without a DVR?!

Best. Invention. Ever.

I use it everyday to record everything from Jeapordy to science shows to primetime goodies. I also got a cable upgrade so now I get more channels...like, the good ones that the stupid basic cable wouldn't give me, such as Sci-Fi and the History Channel. Yayz.

As for my PC issues: I am currently writing a shitload of files (in safe mode) to disk and my plan is to simply wipe the whole hard drive clean and reinstall everything. I'm really not so upset over it anymore; in fact it gives me the opportunity to start fresh and rid mysel fo all those clunky files that tend to accumulate after a number of years. All I can hope is that all works out well.

Thanks for all the help, guys! Especially [info]cassiee and [info]rosely.

Okay, my birthday was cool. I just chilled, as I normally do. My uncle gave me $300 and my boyfriend bought me a new super-comfy computer chair 'cause my last one broke and the temp one sucked. He also got me a new bed set...comforter, pillowcases, shams, sheets and a bedskirt. Me likes! My mom didn't get me anything but I don't get her anything on her bday either. It's like an agreement we have and it works out fine. I went over to the uncle and mom's house for some meatloaf, mashed potatoes and some veggies, followed by some chocolate cake. Everything was good. And then I came home and watched House. Thanks to y'all for the bday wishes! xoxo

As for the baby shower, I got tons of useful stuff. That's the best part: it's all useful. Even the clothes are awesome...no silly froufrou pink dresses or anything. I got a super stroller that has tons of space and will be used for years. I got TWO bouncy chairs, which is cool 'cause I can leave one at the fam's house since the baby will spend lots of time there too. I got a good and colorful swing. And of course I got lots of receiving blankets and clothes and other baby supplies.

My mom and uncle got me a wonderful, custom-made crib Tinkerbell set. It's just wonderful and pretty and I adore it. I can't wait for my furniture arrives (also from the fam) so I can put the nursery together.

And my sister got me tons of stuff! She was very generous. 1) An Eddie Bauer diaper bag, 2) a cute outfit, 3) a breast pump, 4) a manicure before the shower plus some clothes for me a few weeks earlier, AND.......5) a digital camera! Like, a nice one. A Canon SD450 Elph.

Also, someone gave me the softest blanket ever. omg, it's the best. Everyone wanted one and it was just for me. :D And Pete's mom made two blankets for the baby. That is just amazing. I love that my daughter will grow up with something made especially for her by her grandmother.

Okay, that's about all for now. I gotsta to finish my thank you cards by the morning so they can be sent out.

It's my baby shower today! Lots of gifts for baby. Woo!

The newest Entertainment Weekly was the Fall TV Preview and it was loaded with tons of awesome pics. I spent like 4 hours scanning, cropping and cleaning them all yesterday. How productive.

Elias Koteas is on House. Awesome.

This is the only episode I am watching this season...I'm saving the rest for a summer marathon. Woo. Funny I start with the finale...

Alias Finale...two words: POETIC JUSTICE

Dude. I am actually quite satisfied with the last Alias episode EVER. cut for spoilers. )

I watched some of the first hour of the 24 finale but I am going to watch the whole thing in its entirety tomorrow...if I can hold out! I promised by boyfriend I would tape it for him since he had to go to his son's baseball game.

prison break: michael/lincoln

Okay, I just wrote a friends-locked post that I think is special so here's a fandom post from me:

1. I commented on a lot of my flist's posts about these already so I'll just sum it up real quick. Monday night season finales:

Prison Break )

Grey's Anatomy )

2. If anyone knows of a torrent for Mondays' Everwood please let me know. I can't find one!! I could only watch/tape so much TV at the same time.

3. Some news leaked about the CW pickups/cancellations. But I guess y'all heard that already. I'm pretty cool about it all around. I mean, what are you gonna do about it anyway if you didn't like the results?

4. Dude, the Entertainment Weekly article on the Lost finale was awesome and I so cannot wait for the last three hours. I am a whore for his show. Almost everyone on my flist is cuckoo over Veronica Mars but I am all about Lost even if I do like the former...it's just not as good, imo. There, I said it.

5. I made some wallpapers recently after not playing in photoshop in a long while. Preview: (spoilers for VM and Lost)

2 Veronica Mars
4 Lost
1 House
1 Gilmore Girls
1 Buffy tVS
1 Angel manip

Bigger versions below )

6. There's ome new shows for the fall I found interesting for one reason or another. Take a gander. )

May. 15th, 2006

TV overload never gets me down but it does get me behind.

There is WAY too much TV I need to watch tonnight. SO much, in fact, that I will be forced into downloading something since I can't tape/watch everything at the same time. Stupid Monday. Well, at least two season finales air tonight. That's comforting....the tv season coming to an end and all.

Prison Break
24
Everwood
Grey's Anatomy - 2 hrs

That's a lot of viewing. Good thing I only have to watch 2 hours of it tonight. Grey's and Everwood can wait till tomorrow or something.

I installed another Coppermine gallery on my site, this time for the fanart section. It looks so pretty. I hate customizing coppermine...it's such a tedious process. But it looks good. that's what matters.

vm: (try me)

Everyone's doing there VM finale post so I will do mine.

I'm a bit indifferent about the show all together anyway. )

And oh yeah! I made a new mood theme! Sex and the City. Go me. It's on my site if anyone wants.

"I mean, walking I get, but power walking? Why not just run for a shorter time?" -Angel

I watched and capped the season Grey's Anatomy finale last night. I've had the DVDs but it's the only ep I had left to watch and I was waiting until I felt like capping it. Anyway...that syphillis shit made me laugh out loud! They had a meeting about all the sleeping aroung amongst employees! Ah, I love the workplace. Every place I ever worked was the exact same way. Everyone sleeping with everyone else. I knew it wasn't just the restaurant industry! Too funny.

I also just read some Veronica Mars spoilers from Kristin and am going crazy! Also saw the cast sheet for the Lost finale and it made my jaw drop. Good golly, I love finales! Can't wait to see them all!

"Always forgive your enemies--nothing annoys them so much." -Oscar Wilde

Hello to anyone reading this that is not on my flist! I am back after like 6 months. What be up? And because I miss when I used to post a lot and number things:

1. I caved and had my paid account reinstated. 6 userpics and no customization is just not do-able. /spoiled net brat

2. I played around in Photoshop and put up some new layout themes in a few places on my site. I have barely opened PS in months. So I am ruuusstty. But I really like the Maggie Grace one on the min page and the colors are pretty too.

3. Someone at The Fuselage bought me a paid account subscription thing and I have no idea who. I actually don't really know anyone on the 'Lage. I only hang out in one thread. Lost rules all. I got really geeky over it while I was taking a break from regular net life. Anyway, I don't know who bought me that but THANKS! I must go check out what cool options are available to me now.

4. Speaking of Lost...dude! That last ep was killer! And know it's just gonna be nonstop until the finale. Oh, man. I am such a whore for this show. I want to know what the fuck is going on that wacky island! And I am having fun picking clues up along the way. Although I must admit I don't like to come up with theories. I think it's just too soon. But there are a few ideas I have had in the back of my head as to what is going on...time will tell if I am on the right track.

5. The season long mystery of Veronica Mars. Not sure. About 8 eps ago I thought Woody had something to do with it....only because his character hadn't been featured very prominently at all. but then he got all crazy and way too suspicious and because he is so suspicious, I just don't think it's him. I'm still not sure who it is BUT I can't help but think that Beaver is somehow involved. I also can't claim that he's directly responsible for the deaths of those kids. But the way I figure it...he was the third person who was edited out of the tape about the molestation accusation and he's got this whole thing with Kendall/Priscilla and the Phoenix Land Trust...in other words, he's got some major unresolved storylines and there's got to be a reason why it has been left for the very last s2 ep, right?! I dunno. I'm sure whatever the writers come up with will make sense on Tuesday.

6. I had the strangest allergic reaction the past few days. On Friday I woke up and my hand was super swollen and itchy. And my other hand was a little swollen too. After several hours (and some research) I took some Benadryl. It worked for awhile but then later I started to itch really bad and all over too. I took another dose. Then I broke out in hives all over my body. Now, I have taken lots of Benadryl over the years so I know the medication wasn't exacerbating my symptoms. And I can't figure what it was I was allergic to in the first place. I mean, I hadn't even left my house in days. So it wasn't some outside allergen that contaminated me. Isn't that bizarre? Yeah, I know. Well, a weekend later and I am finally fine. *shrugs*

7. It's 4:30 in the AM and I am tired. So I am gonna turn off all the lights and give the latest Lost ep another viewing...'cause I have this thing where I have to watch each ep twice the week it airs. :/

Nov. 30th, 2005

I live for Wednesdays. Lost, VM, OTH, T7S, ANTM? TV overload! Hooray!

Is it just me or was tonight's Veronica Mars really....predictable. But I still kinda also really liked it. And I don't know what to make about the alternate ending. a few spoilery thoughts here )

I kinda really liked Lost too. But I still don't care for Kate all that much. a few spoilery thoughts here )

The only reason I am still watching One Tree Hill is for the music. There are so many montages and so many awesome songs....I like to watch just to get some good songs recs. I'm watching it right now...kinda. Okay, I'm listening. Kinda. I actually have no idea what's going on in the show 'cause I don't think I care. I'm waiting for music. But there haven't been any good tracks in tonight's ep. Suckage. Bring back Jake! /music geek

Morning tv sucks donkey balls and then goes back down for seconds.

My mom bought a new iPod and gave me her old one. Sweetness, dude. It's like the most awesome invention eva. Seriously. I am so fucking giddy over this damn thing it's not even funny. The downside, of course, is that now that I have it, I listen to it on the train instead of reading/doing homework; this is bad, you see, because I do most of my homework on the commute to school. Oh well. Only a month left and then I graduate!

So, I have a RIDICULOUSLY SIZED CD collection so I have been ripping music for HOURS and I am still nowhere close to done. And I need something to do while I rip all this stuff and Photoshop just isn't doing it for me. Hence >>>> iPOD MEME-AGE. ... or something like that.

I put my iPod on shuffle and picked the first eight tracks (didn't feel like going for ten!) and then I uploaded them to share with y'all. Right-click, save as. Comments are good if you take any. Thanks. I added some lyrics and genre classifications in case some of the bands/tracks are not familiar to you. Additonally, the bulk of them are in m4a format...just a heads up. I don't imagine anyone having a problem with that.

ch..ch..check it out...wha..wha..what's it all about? (that may be misleading since there's no actual Beasite Boys below the cut. I'm such a dork right now. I've been sitting in front of my two computers doing this ripping shit for nearly 11 hours. Holy christ. I'm obsesed with getting this iPOD filled.) )

Bad Religion is coming for a show November 11 and omg....with Pennywise! Like, my fave two punk bands ever who I have NEVER seen live and I can't afford to go!! Damn, man. I want this so so bad! I'm so upset that I can't go. And it just gets worse because Depeche Mode will be here the 29th and I can't afford that either. NOOOOO! I hate you, depleted bank accounts.

i was stuck on an elevator today and the fire department guys were dicks.

I started the day off well. Watched the copy of Serenity I downloaded. Loved it again, of course. Then I wasted time for awhile. Was going to take a nap but it didn't take so this evening I went to class.

I took the train and when class got out I was like "Cool. I will just make the train." Then the elevator stops with my entire class in it. (Only 11 people.) We were in there for forty minutes. None of the emergency call buttons worked. And only one guy's cell phone had reception. So he called the school and told them the situation. Nothing happened. He calls again. Nothing happened. So he calls a different part of the school. Again, nothing happened. wtf? So he calls the fire department. Eventually we pry the doors open and notice there is about a five feet drop to the floor. However, there is an abyss below us. Finally the fire department shows up and starts helping us off. Two girls were totally freaking out and one of the firefighters had the audacity and utter lack of compassion for them. "Come on! We don't have time for this," he yells. What a dick! This is your fucking job, you asshole.

So then I had time to kill and I really wanted to watch the World Series Game 3. (Go White Sox!) So I stopped and had a beer before the train came. It was in the ninth inning when I left. On the train a few people had radios and portable tvs so we all kinda listened in together. The score remained tied my entire way home. I am still watching it now. The Sox finally scored a run (home run!) to break the tie, so here's to hoping the Astros don't get one too!

Chicago needs another winning team. It's been a long time. This week, as I pass by Sox t-shirt sales and Sox headlines on newspapers I can't help but smile. Even when I was leaving the bar there was a guy peering in through the windows. "Watching the game?" I asked. "Wanted to get a score," he replies. "5-5, top of the ninth," I tell him. I love how simple things like a winning team can really bring a city together.

ETA: Holy shit. Bases loaded. And we are up 2 runs. Fuck yeah. Chicago's got this in the bag, baby!

I Love the Eighties

I am hopelesly addicted to those silly VH1 decade specials. Particularly the ones that they do on the eighties. I'm watching the new one now, I Love the Eighties: 3-D, 1980. I love the commentary the people do. Once again we have Hal Sparks and Thomas Ian Black. Awesome. They're funny. But they also have Monica Keena and Jorge Garcia and lots of new people. That's my fave part. I'm sure I will be watching these all week.

This icon is the only I have that can represent the eighties. I thought I would have more.

Radiohead/Jeff Buckley mp3s and wallpaper

I woke up at 3:30am to do some last minute homework and studying...that I still haven't really done. It's not completely necessary for me to do so, the way I see it. So screw it. I have a commidterm this morning for MS Excel (mostly anyway) but I think I'll do fine. So downloads and stuff instead! No one procrastinates better than me. No one.

I also made a wallpaper. Charlie/Shannon with some cigarette-smoking and Pet Shop Boys lyrics. I also like my new icon. Yay for D.H. Lawrence quotes: Oh the innocent girl in her maiden teens knows perfectly well what everything means.

And then there's the downloads. I know I've had a lot lately but I'm not gonna apologize. It's a good thing! It's allowed me to rediscover the music I love. A lot of this stuff I have not listened to in so long....and no that I have again I am getting all obsessed. SO good, y'all. RIGHT-CLICK, SAVE TARGET AS PLEASE. And comments are of the good.

choice Jeff Buckley selections: 8 tracks from three albums down below )

there's something wrong wih me; I can't just choose a few favorites: 31 Radiohead mp3s down below )

30 Tori Amos mp3s

Well. after the fun I had with the last post and the poll responses and the fact I realized I had a lot more Tori Amos than I realized (15-18 CDs are so), here's another MASSIVE MP3 DOWNLOAD post. Once again I have included several rarities and B-Sides. Enjoy! And remember comments are nice and RIGHT-CLICK, SAVE TARGET AS is fucking golden.

30 Tori Amos mp3s down below - my favorites )

That's that. Hope you guys all found something you don't have yet and like. And once again, feel free to pimp this post as well and share in the Tori love. I should go through my CD collectione very so often and do this. It's fun. And I have a lot of music.

Smashing Pumpkins/Ned's Atomic Dustbin mp3s

So instead of studying for the midterm I have in 5 hours--the midterm in which I have read none of the material for--or sleeping, I did this post. This is a MASSIVE MUSIC POST. 37 downloads below. But please, you can still fill out the poll on my last post so I can get an idea of what other downloads you guys might enjoy.

Comments encouraged. RIGHT-CLICK, SAVE TARGET AS PLEASE. I don't want my bandwith to go crazy. I should be alright so long as everyone saves. Thanks.

First of all, here's eight of my favorite Ned's Atomic Dustbin. I've been a huge fan for nearly fifteen years. They havent been together in years but I STILL listen to them a lot. The best way to describe it, I think, is as skater rock. You really have to listen for yourself. Ned's Atomic Dustbin downloads here. )

Next I have twenty-nine Smashing Pumpkins songs. So when I decided to upload my fave SP songs, I realized there were a lot of CDs I hadn't listened to in awhile and omg, it became way too hard to just pick a few faves. So there's a lot here for you. See, I have like twenty-something CDs of theirs. I used to have more but my car was broken into back in 1998 and as a result I lost my collection of rare imports for several bands. But the good news is I replaced many of them. Smashing Pumpkins B-sides are usually better than their albums, so I have included many of them for your listening pleasure. I also tend to lean toward the more melancholy tunes. I love a good depressing song. But I did throw in my fave rockier tunes as well. All in all, I know there a lot of songs but I just couldn't narrow down my fave list anymore. I tried, I swear.

Okay this is how it's gonna work. Not that's important or anything, but I do want to do a bit of running commentary with these downloads. I have the mp3s organized by albums and I'm gonna chat about some of the tracks. The ones with commentary are most likey my favorites of the favorites. This covers all of their studio albums plus some B-sides. And just so you understand, I have a ton more CDs but I can't upload every song, of course.Continue with pictures and everything. )

And please, feel free to PIMP THIS POST on your flist. I encourage it. If you make an entry or anything and want to, just add a line and direct people over to this post. How often do you get a chance to experience a band through so many songs in one post? This was fun and I would hate for all these hours I've spent on it going to waste. I know not everyone is fan of the band but it took a long time to do this so spread the word and let others enjoy. Thanks.
