Happiness is a fish you can catch

No idea why I'm feeling pensive often lately. Just now, a lot of people and things from the past flashed through my mind. People I wronged, people who wronged me... and none of it really matters now. People move on, people live their separate lives, people learn, and people grow. As long as they're happy now despite it all.

This might come off sounding incredibly selfish, but I know I, for one, am happy right now.

Anyone who thinks they deserve to be happy, deserves to be happy from the very fact that they believe they have every right to be. On the flip side of the coin, same can be said for those who believe in the opposite. What do you believe in?

No Friday Five today since the LJ comm didn't update. :P

Colalife: MOO friends in high places

If you happen to be in London this afternoon (Friday!), why not join some of the MOO crew down at Trafalgar Square? Not only will it be an opportunity to hang out with Nelson on his column, cool down with the pigeons in the fountain and perhaps have a wander around the National Gallery - but you'll also be able to cheer on MOO customer and friend Simon Berry, of ingenious charity Colalife. For one hour he'll have pride of place on the famously unadorned 4th plinth - as part of Anthony Gormley's latest project, 'One and Other'. More... )

GO Transit Discount

Hello, just a quick question. I've been trying to find a UfT (St. George Campus) GO Transit Discount site and with no luck. When I was an undergrad at York U they had an electronic form you submitted, assuming you were enrolled in full-time studies, that presented you with a GO Transit Student Discount Card and I'm looking for the same here at UfT. I've found a site [http://www.undergrad.engineering.utoronto.ca/support/financial/go_transit.htm] for the Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering which is currently dated by a year, but I've yet to find a site for other faculties. I myself am in OISE and am wondering if anyone here can direct to a site that offers such a discount, if it so exists beyond the aforesaid. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Sid Smith- Tim Hortons

Hey,

Does the Tim Hortons inside of Sid Smith serve sandwiches? I don't think the one inside of the MedSci building does and I was just wondering.

Also, last time I checked the Sid Smith Cafe was under construction but the Tim Hortons was still up and running... is that still the case?

thanks!

what am i doing...
all the work that I have done lately has been handled with alot of attention to detail but nonetheless my labour has been free... i know I could of gave in and taken a job that would of killed me inside but I didn't.. im still hoping to find something.. hopefully turning point will come up soon.

I feel as if im wasting my time but then again there are things that need to get done and are getting done...
48 days til LA... weekends full of tigers events... weekdays mishmashed with random events and practices.

With that said.. my skills alone need to improve and stay that way.. the health of my shoulder seems to be good but if I continue hitting the way i am hitting it might not last..

besides that highlight of this week will be THYS wedding! woot woot!

Priority Courses

Hey everyone,

I'm going into my third year and Rosi hates me as usual. I cannot get into 3 of my courses because they are priority for other subject posts. I'll just have to try again August 5th or whenever they open up for everyone. Does anyone have any positive experiences doing this?

I cannot get onto the wait lists for any of these course even though the timetable shows that one of them has a wait list. Does anyone know what this means?

And lastly I cannot get into INI309H1 even though it's priority for my major. This is what I'm most concerned about. Do I have to sign up with the department (there are no indicators in the calender that I have to I'm just thinking of any reasons why Rosi won't let me in). And all of these courses I cannot enter are not full.

I feel so uneasy leaving my schedule so open does anyone have experience signing up late? I'm not too concerned about wait lists I've been wait listed before and I usually get in pretty quickly.

Sorry for the million questions the registrar's office (UC) is closed for lunch from 12pm-1:30pm. I don't understand why they need an hour and a half break when they work 10-4 but whatever. Thanks again if you're still reading!

Question about waitlists and priorities

So I'm waitlisted for a class which was listed with a P for priority. I've read the handbook definition, but I don't think I completely understand the meaning of priority as listed in the handbook. I interpreted it on the ArtSci-website here, where students in their respective programs appear to be listed as the priority-groups for certain classes. I am a third year student in the international relations program, and according to my understanding, that gives me priority for the class POL326Y1, "American Foreign Policy". But when I just added it I was immediately put on waitlist.

I can't tell if
A) the class has been filled up already
or
B) that nobody has been allowed in yet and I'm just in line with everyone else trying to enroll for this class - in which case I guess I'm fine because the total is 70 places and I'm in the forties waiting to get in.

Help, please?
I put the handbook-definition of P under spoiler-tags here to save space )

ROSI experience?

I'm a first year student about to choose my courses on Rosi on July 16th. But right now, I'm spending my vacation outside of Canada. I was wondering if there will be a disadvantage accessing ROSI because I've known relatives who are unable to access the course selection site for waterloo when they were outside of Canada.

Does anyone know if I will have any problem?

EDIT: in asia =S

Ode to the Pathetic and Lonely

You know, I swear to god we just did this a month ago. But here we go, second verse same as the first:

WHO DO YOU HATE?

rejeneration. She's a total emo attention-whore who needs to start acting her age. Of course, my posting this comment about her will no doubt result in a cryptic and poetic emo one-line post to prove my point.

She is spitfire mean and I never understand why poeple turn a blind eye to it.

By all means, allow me the opportunity to be a total emo attention-whore. Hi, how you doin'? I was going to give it some serious thought, maybe write you a little haiku, but then I remembered. I'm busy. I do apologize for all the butthurt, though. Next time, I promise to use more lube. Grease ya up real good.

Tell you what, I'll make you a deal. If you stop stalking me like a poor man's Emily Leatherman, I'll grow up. Just the second my life stops being fucking awesome.

For those cutie-pies who played my white knight, I adore you. I want to know who you are, but I can settle for not. ♥

Start Times...

I'm "in" 2nd year. Start times for Second Years were meant to be visible July 10th but I cannot see my start time. Does this have something to do with the fact that I still owe $700 on my tuition from last term? I just paid that this morning, so hopefully I'll be able to view start times soon.

Wanted: Introductory economics textbook

Hello folks,

Long story short, I'm starting grad school at UofT in September and my department (Geography and Planning) suggested I read an introductory economics textbook over the summer, since I've never taken an economics course. They didn't suggest any particular textbook. I've taken a couple of economic geography courses so am familiar with stuff like Innis' Staples Theory and Richard Florida's Creative Class, but not really with more traditional economic theory.

Anyway, if anyone has an old textbook they'd be willing to give away for free or for a low cost, please leave me a comment! Or if you're also going into the planning program, let me know.

Thanks!
