Those of you keeping tabs on "The Surreal Life Fame Game" will certainly share in my disappointment at tonights episode. The show is quickly losing it's dignity and so are some of the "celebrities" that are on it.

Tonights episode was a sad reflection of real life. It showed us that throwing a fit and acting like a jerk will get you your way every time.

Vanilla Ice, well known for trashing interview sets and hotel rooms, threw yet another tantrum on TV this evening. The object of the game was to have as many celebrities call you as possible in an eight hour timeframe. At the end, the celebrities who called would be ranked and points awarded. This is where Ice stomps around like a jackass saying, "I don't want my friends to be ranked. It's disrespectful!"... oh, until the celebrity guest judge decides that HIS celebrities are high on the list! Then he's okay with the ranking?!

The guest judge in question was one Kennedy, formerly of MTV. (I always liked Kennedy, but she really was intimidated by Ice pitching a fit. I think even Robin Leeech was scared!) Not sure how to carry on in the face of Rob Van Winkles childish anger, Kennedy decided it was better to kiss his ass and thus prove that she knew what she was doing and that he could trust her judgement.

Countless celebrities called Ron Jeremy. All of them more famous then Ricky Carmichael (is that his name? Some motocross guy I've never heard of). I think Elvira is more famous then that guy! Yet, Kennedy's ranking system seemed to be based on soothing Rob than on any other criteria.

To top it off, Andrea Lowell cried and thus got one of her celebs ranked the highest! (Sherman Helmsly -IS- famous and definately deserved to be up on the board, but COME ON! At the top?)

Thus, emotional manipulation of Kennedy was what it took to win the game. Although Chyna certainly had more calls by more famous celebrities, she had to lose because she wasn't a bitch.

The Weather:

I thought I'd be envious of cpxbrex by now, with his sunshine and pretty landscpe, while I was buried in snow....

Every winter I've lived here for the last six years, has been horrible! Especially for a desert girl like me. We've been buried in snow and ice from October to April...

So far, it hasn't snowed ONCE this winter. (okay, we got a few flakes that lasted a few hours, but not enough to even cover the ground.) It's been in the fourty degree area this entire time!

I'm not complaining. I haven't had a nicer winter in a long time. Even my old hometown in Utah is thirty degrees colder (It's 22 there now compared to my 45). However.... this can't be good. It could just be a fluke.. After all, Colorado and all the states around this midwest warm bubble are getting hammered with storms. Even the west coast was flooding and frozen over. So the bad weather is still there, it's just been pushed out to all the other states, leaving us to bask in the warmth. So maybe it's just luck of the currents... or maybe it's more evidence of global warming... or both...

Dead Saddam

I watched the cell phone video of the execution. While it wasn't particularly graphic, it was still rather shocking to me on a level I didn't expect. I've known of Saddam my whole life, seen him in the news often, and laughed at his likeness on South Park, so seeing him hanging there, dead... It felt as if I was watching the death of someone I knew personally.

Report Stolen Property?

The IRS requires you to declare "Stolen Property" on your tax return

"See Page 90 of publication 17. Under the heading of 'other income'. Under 'stolen property' it says: 'If you steal property, you must report its fair market value in your income in the year you steal it unless in that year you return it to its rightful owner!'"

- At first glance, this seems like a waste of space on a tax form. Who would steal something and then report it's value to the government?! Doesn't that defeat the purpose of stealing something, if you're going to pay taxes on it?

The real reason they have this entry on the tax form is this. If someone gets caught with stolen property, they will be charged not only with the theft, but for not reporting it on their taxes. Among many other violations that they will throw at you to increase you fines.

More evidence of how the criminal justice system is used as a cash crop.

I just finished watching the latest episode of "Lost" and my head is buzzing! :)

I think I know what's going on!

Watching the scenes with Locke and Boone convinced me of it. They're going through the airport and Boone is saying that someone is in trouble.... It could have just been to point Locke where he needed to go and for a new crazed out on drugs scene that wasn't in the jungle. But Showing them all in the airport, about to get on that faithful flight... made me think it was more literal then that. I think it's a big hint that the plane DOES crash, only all the survivors are really the ones who died!

Gifted Child Tests?

PARENTS!!

Have you ever recieved thos packets from school that say "You're child is probably a genius! Register for this test!"

What is the point of those? Have you ever had your child take the test? Did anything come of it?

It seems to me that the point is to charge you fifty bucks (for the test registration) and then to solicit you to register your child for their special "gifted" classes

I just wanted to know if this was worthwhile at all. I've never had Sophie do any of these "gifted" programs (unless they were free) because I think they just prey on parents desire to have a genius child. I don't want to sell my kids short though, by assuming that these are all just scams designed to fleece stupid parents hehe :)
