Here is fruit for the crows to pluck

Dinner with my co-workers and Brazilian party didn't go as bad as I thought it would. Clearly I wasn't dressed to kill - I just can't pull it off - but nobody really seemed to pay attention to it, so I stopped feeling totally out of place. I mean, I wasn't 100% comfortable, but I enjoyed the night.
The evening didn't start as promising though, cuz Ale wasn't feeling good (she hasn't been feeling good for a while, so it didn't surprise me that tireness and all finally caught up with her) and decided not to come.
The highlight of the night was the show of this Brazilian guy, sort of street acrobat, that took Stella, one of my co-workers, for two of his experiments... He basically lined up four chairs, had four girls (including our Stella) sit in each of them, and, after a short run, he jumped over all of them with a flip. Scary. Then, he took Stella again, picked her up and turned her upside down and put her back on her feet again, in like a second, with no apparent strain, like she was a doll. And Stella didn't even realize what he did, completely clueless, lol.
Funny is, she was waiting for her boyfriend to arrive, and someone mentioned "think if Sandro saw all this" and after a while we realized that he had been standing the whole time right behind us, near the pool, and when Stella saw him, he pretended to be mad at her for "playing" with the Brazilian guy. :D
Man, Sandro is just so funny. At some point he asked me and Samanta "what the fuck are you doing here?", like we didn't belong to that table - as I said, we work in different places (me and Samanta at the ice cream place, Stella, Sarah and Daniela at one sandwich place and Ale, Alice, Agata and Luisa at the other sandwich place) so he probably didn't remember us - and we went like "we work at the ice cream parlour!" and he was all "aaah! I thought I've seen you before!" guess without our bright yellow cap, we aren't that recognizable anymore.
Anyway, he asked me what my name was, but the music was loud and he didn't quite get the answer, so I yelled again "Ilaria!" and he went like "Ah, Ilaria! I thought I heard your name's Sylenia." lmao, Sylenia, and he continued "in fact, I was thinking 'what kind of name is Sylenia?!? A name like that you go at the register and change it!'... So, what did you say your name was?" and I was like "Sylenia!" and he replyed "Right, Sylenia! I thought I heard Ilaria!" and I played along "What kind of name is Ilaria?!?" and together "a name like that you go at the register and change it!" lmao, high five. So for the rest of the night he kept calling me Sylenia.
Then we had the following conversation )
Lol, I like Sandro! XD
Anyways, we stayed there till about 2am, there was music, people dancing, people swimming in the pool, people drinking, usual stuff. I mostly sit at the table chatting with Agata and Samanta.
At some point I saw a girl with a really pretty gilet and I asked her were she bought it. Samanta was shocked "are you drunk?" Um, what's so wrong now? "Why? I liked her gilet... if you liked her shoes, wouldn't you have asked her where she bought them?" the easiest choice can be the right one, you know... But she was all "No! I would've looked everywhere for them and eventually given up." well, I'm lazy, I don't like wasting time like that. :P
In the end not a bad night after all. I like spending time with the girls even if I still don't know them very well.

I think I'm going out of my mind if it's not already gone by now

Batman Returns - (H)ELLO (T)HERE
This is going to be a nightmare. I'm going out with all my co-workers tonight, we're having dinner and, um, not sure where we'll go then. Well, they're not all my co-workers, but we all work under the same person (no jokes here!), in the three places he owns, and we pretty much know each other.
I'm cool with going out together, you know, but I just want to seriously kill who picked the place. We're going to this super chic restaurant/hotel where there's this Brazilian party every Thursday.
I started panicing when the girl who works with me asked me if I was going to wear  high heels... *blinks* Like I have high heels shoes! Luckily I'm not the only one who doesn't own a pair of high heels shoes. They're probably gonna set a table in a corner for those who don't wear high heels. :P Seriously, apparently at this Brazilian party people dresses like they're going at a movie premiere. Not cool. I don't have that kind of clothes! And I can't even pull it off.
I went to the other place to ask the other girls about they're clothing choice. One asked if I was going to wear jeans... *blinks* Like I have other kind of pants besides jeans!
As I said, luckily, also Ale won't try to pull off the elegant look. I told you, they're gonna put us in a corner and we'll want to hide under the table.
I'm probably going to want to kill myself before this night is over. :)
Plus, I made the huge mistake of accepting a ride from Samanta who is always super elegant and good looking. Arriving at that restaurant with her is gonna look like Kathy Bates and Nicole Kidman walking the red carpet together. And I'm no Nicole Kidman.

Today is also my dad's bday. Yesterday at work I made two cakes for him. One had the shape of a heart. :) I brought them home today and we just had a small party. :)
Speaking of cakes, it's funny cuz I always had this nightmare about having people over (like, let's say, Sarah Clarke - in dreams it can happen!) and saying "you just wait here, I'll go grab a cake at the ice cream parlour" and then I'd get caught in some hostage situation or something. And when you have Sarah Clarke over, being late it's not cool. In fact, when I'd come back, the house'd be empty. Now that I can actually make cakes by myself, I hope that my dreams will realize that I'd probably have a good supply of cakes in my freezer.

Now I should probably go kill myself take a shower and get ready for the execution dinner.

Beat this, EW!

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
_ila_ // Twilight - Stupid lamb
So Entertainment Weekly has put Twilight on the cover of the next issue. The pic looks kinda weird though, like someone said, it looks like the cover of a bad trashy romance novel... those my mom uses to read, so she might just lurve that. :P
Did I mention I made my mom totally addicted to Twilight? She's read Twilight, New Moon and Eclipse in like a month, which, I tell ya, it's quite a record for her (she's not a big reader). And now she's dying to read the last book. She's forcing me to order the original version and translate it to her. Like, for real. You just a little bit out of your mind, mommy.
Anyways, back to the EW cover, the caption near the picture says "Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart as Edward and Bella in the movie Twilight" so, following the fans' comments, I'll summ everything up like this: how come they both have blue eyes? Where's the contacts? And that hairdo? He doesn't look like that in the movie. And Edward does not have chest hair (LOL). And he's also supposed to be very fit.
And, I might add, why Rob doesn't even have his eyebrows plucked?
So, this is my attempt to making this somehow right. Couldn't do anything about Rob's hairdo, but I did my best for the rest, even though, deleting the chest hair made it look way too photoshopped (even more than it already was). It still looks somehow weird, but at least I got rid of the beer belly. ;-P

My version (aka, why EW should hire better photoshoppers ;-P):

AHAH, I amuse myself.

New layout! [info]_ila_! [info]_ila_! [info]_ila_!

So Spain won the European championship. It was a good match to watch and Spain deserved to win, so congrats to the team.
This year I tried to watch all the matches that I could, minus Italy vs Spain cuz I was at work (not cool, I had to listen to it at the radio), but I got home in time for the penality kicks - and we lost anyway, so not such a big loss in the end.

LMAO, Sarah! The crazy clothes! And the crazier hair! And Xander sings! Check out #22 Rebecca.

Yesterday one of my former middle school classmates came by where I work, and she was with her boyfriend. Now, last November when we had the middle school reunion dinner, she was saying that she was in a relationship with this guy who happened to be the brother of a guy I knew; she even showed us pictures of him and he didn't really look that good looking (plus, his brother - the guy I knew - was not good looking at all). But yesterday, when I saw him live... Man, he's cute! He looks like Threadless' Ross - so totally adorable. Like, why do you have such a pretty boyfriend? It's not fair. Ok, let's move on or I might start crying.

Does it ever happen to you that one of your fonts disappears from the computer without you doing anything? I think my computer ate Century Gothic... And I'm really confuzzled.

And a meme. Taggey by [info]goa_glows.

The rules are as follows:
1. Pick a hot guy... take a moment to think.
2. Is this really the guy you want?
3. Pick his top 10 hottest, cutest, most irresistible pictures.
4. Tag 5 other users.

Now, I have to say at first I wanted do Freddy Ljungberg cuz he's just really hot and I've liked him since I saw his CK underwear ad many years, then my aunt started obsessing me with this other dude, David Gandy, a D&G model - she basically sent me on a hunt for every kind of picture of this guy ("better if naked" she said...). And then I realized that the second season of Mad Men is going to premiere like tomorrow and I really can't wait, I missed the show so much, so here he comes, the mad man, Jon Hamm. (Who, in addition of being good looking, he's also a great and golden globe winning actor. Just sayin'...)

Not dial-up friendly, to be honest. But worth it. ;) )

EDIT: AHA, forgot to tag 5 people. [info]averita, [info]whenidream, [info]_omnivore_, [info]on_the_ground, [info]cecism!

You're the target that I'm aiming at

Mad Men - Mad Don by call_me_daisy
I hear everybody saying so many good things about Friday Night Lights, so I kinda started watching it. The tricky thing is I know nothing about American football so most of the times, when they're playing, I'm like um, interesting... what was that again? Why did they win? But yeah, it's not like the football match really is the main thing, so you know, never mind. Also, for some weird reason, after watching the first two episodes, I spent the whole night dreaming of Connie Britton and the guy who plays her husband in the show. And it was kind of awkward cuz, uhm, what are you doing in my dreams? Do I even know you? Like, I watched 3 movies with Lena Headey in 3 days, then I watched 2 movies with Sarah, and not once I've dreamt about them. I watch FNL once and I dream about it. My mind works in mysterious ways. Or it doesn't work at all... I've also dreamt I had a shiny green Jaguar. Not sure why. And I was very disappointed when I woke up and realized I didn't really have it. Anyways!
Since we're talking about movies and stuff, I've also seen The Lather Effect. Ok, Sarah was beyond adorable in it (although she says the best '80s song ever is the American remake of Umberto Tozzi's "Gloria"... go figure), but the movie? It kind of sucked wasn't as cool. Bad Sarah. You make me watch and purchase these silly movies I'd never watch. If it wasn't for you.

After 15 lines of the usual nonsense, I kind of have a favour to ask to my American pals... Hi guys! *waves*
So, I was kinda hoping someone could buy - and mail me - the June issue of Entertainment Weekly with Mad Men on the cover (pictured here on the left).

I have no idea if it's already out or anything, but if you happen to find a copy and would be willing to send it to me, I'd really appreciate. If you have PayPal then I can reimburse you the price of the magazine and the shipping, or I can get you an Amazon gift certificate, Threadless shirts (which is having crazy sale right now), etc.. I'm sure we can work something out. :)

Another wasted moment realising we're not real

_ila_ // 300 - I am not not your queen
I had to take a break from the Lena/Queen Gorgo painting 'cause tomorrow we're gonna celebrate my grandma birthday and I didn't know what to get her... so I kind of cheated and made a watercolor painting. I'm sure she'll appreciate it and all, but sometimes I really feel like I'm cheating, you know, not spending any money like everybody else. Oh, well.

What do you think?

For this I took inspiration from a picture I saw in a website of Japanese watercolor paintings. I really liked the image of the two birds on a cherry tree, very spring-y and very delicate, so I basically just painted my version of it.

300 - Saying goodbye by iconofilth
A couple of nights ago I rewatched "300" and the amazingness of the special effects (and of Lena Headey) gave me inspiration for a new painting. I went to the art shop, bought a big canvas and am now working on it. I chose this promo pic of Lena as Queen Gorgo 'cause the pose is so beautiful and she looks strong and dangerous (not to mention incredibly good looking), but I think I kind of overestimated myself 'cause it's really giving me a hard time.
Initially I've planned to paint two portraits in the same canvas - that one of Queen Gorgo and one of Sarah Connor - but I've soon realized that one was already complicated enough, right.
I've spent like 3 hours just trying to paint an eyebrow right and at some point I just wanted to throw the canvas out of the window. I'm still in time to do that. Maybe I should've stick to something more... familiar. Like, let's say, Sarah Clarke. :P

And that's all I have to say for today.
Damn painting. And damn you Lena Headey for being so ridicolously pretty.

Dear Manuel,
last time I saw you, you were a drunk crackhead. And now? You don't even drink beer on stage! That's not good, boy. What happened to you? You went to rehab or something? I don't recognize you (and your music) anymore.
The concert was great, strangely enough you didn't miss a tune or a note. I'm impressed. BUT, your songwriting skills worked better under the influence of drugs and acohol.
No offence, you look good, Manuel. It's just... the new album - except for a few tracks - doesn't look as good.
Did you really have a kid in the meantime or the whole singing about "a daughter" was some kind of a metaphor about, I don't know, quitting with the drugs, I can't get? (That sounds somehow more plausible, since I thought you were gay...)
Anyways.
No worries, I still love you, Manuel.

Yours,
Ila

Spent the weekend in Rimini at my aunt's. Took pretty pics of her doggy running on the beach. Will post them later.
Anyways, when I got back home I downloaded all my emails (like 150, and 140 of them were spam) and, oh noez, my LJ account is going to expire in like 3 days! Not cool. My LJ account should never expire. It's just wrong, right. Let's write a petition to stop Ila's LJ account from expiring. :)

On a brighter note, made a little (silly) something for [info]averita who writes pretty Six/Nina fics and send them to me when I can't check my emails. I hope this will inspire you to write more, because we all need more Six/Nine in our lives (even if someone doesn't know yet).

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
24 - Jack smirks by unafraid_
M80 is made of awesome, for real. I just received my prize for partecipating (and scoring good points) to the 24 season 6 DVD mission. They sent me the 24 season 6 DVDs AND the Live Free or Die Hard Collector's edition DVD! No kidding.
Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us

So, they have a new mission up, and there's 24 prizing for this one too!
This time we're promoting The Rookie: Day 3 Extraction DVD release.
The Rookie: Day 3 Extraction is directed by Rodney Charters (who also directed some 24 episodes) and it's very well done, true 24 style.
The plot centers on Agent Jason Blaine who has to find and save his boss Alton Maxwell, kidnapped by Mexican drug kingpin Esteban Salazar, as well as bringing down the criminal.
It seems they even shoot it on location in Mexico - but I'm not that sure about it... Everything looks very Mexican though.
Anyways, here's the mission, join the team and spread the word.
It really isn't that hard score points and win prizes, so why don't you give it a try? (They ship worldwide, so don't worry if you're not from the US!)
Take a look at this video to know what The Rookie is about.
