In terms of age and stature, Taylor Swift is sandwiched somewhere between Selena Gomez and Madonna -- at least according to last weekend's Billboard Music Awards, where Gomez represented the show's youngest performers and Madonna its most seasoned. In a new interview with Billboard, Swift reflects on that position, saying she looks up to the 54-year-old Madonna, who took home Top Touring Artist honors, and avoids doling out advice to younger stars like Gomez. "I never give advice unless someone asks me for it," she said when asked what lessons she would pass on to the 20-year-old Gomez and 19-year-old Ariana Grande. "One thing I've learned, and possibly the only advice I have to give, is to not be that person giving out unsolicited advice based on your own personal experience. I've always had a lot of older people giving me advice because I'm young, and in the end, it all comes down to who you want to be remembered as. Just be that." Swift also seems to acknowledge that her career is not identical to Madonna's early days. Swift has developed a clear identity, whereas Madonna quickly became known for constantly reinventing herself. "One element of Madonna's career that really takes center stage is how many times she's reinvented herself," Swift said when asked what she's learned from the original Material Girl's legacy. "It's easier to stay in one look, one comfort zone, one musical style. It's inspiring to see someone whose only predictable quality is being unpredictable." Source

Yes, Robbie Rogers did retire from pro soccer after coming out last February as a gay man.But he's ready to resume his career and he will be doing so with the Los Angeles Galaxy of Major League Soccer, USA Today reports. The Galaxy, the team for which David Beckham played for five years, has not officially announced the deal but USA Today confirmed details with two people familiar with the negotiations who insisted on anonymity. The Galaxy's leading scorer, Mike Magee, will reportedly head to the Chicago Fire as part of a trade deal. Rogers spoke with Gay Star News earlier this week at the 2013 Voice Awards in Los Angeles, confirmed that he had been practicing with the Galaxy and that he hoped a deal for him to join the team was imminent.'It's just kind of being worked out,' he said on Sunday (19 May) which was his 26th birthday. 'Chicago owns my rights and until they trade me to LA, I guess I'm owned by Chicago. It feels amazing to be back in California and obviously back on the soccer field.'As recently as a month ago, Rogers was not planning to return to the sport. But he realized 'I just missed it.'He had been staying in Huntington Beach, California, with his family and emailed Galaxy coach Bruce Arena an email to ask if I could come train. Rogers also talked it over with Landon Donovan, his longtime friend and future Galaxy teammate who has been publicly supportive of Rogers and the idea of a gay player in the the MLS.'I sat down with Landon and just wanted to get an idea of what he thought of me coming back and what the atmosphere might be like,' he tells USA Today. 'Regardless of the perception, we both agreed that we are at our happiest when we are helping people. I believe I'm happy now because I know that I'm helping people.'Source
‘Law & Order: SVU’ fans can breathe a sigh of relief, NBC has confirmed that the seasoned veteran Mariska Hargitay will return for another season. Here are the latest details. Up until today it was still unclear if NBC would be able to negotiate a deal to have Mariska Hargitay’s famous SVU character return for another season (this upcoming season will be the 15th). It was Mariska herself that helped break the news of her appending return stating on Twitter, “Happy weekend. It’s official. Season 15–I’LL BE BACK!” This comes just a few days after the final episode of season 14, the episode ended with the possibility of Hargitay to return left open, though she was being held at gunpoint. Ever since the departure of Christopher Meloni the show has seen countless rumors that it may be canceled, but fans still tune in for every episode to catch up on Hargitay and her team. The show has seen some ratings fall-short of its earlier progress, but being in its 15th season and holding a 2.1 rating with adults 18-49 on a Wednesday is nothing to scoff at. The show is expected to return to the same date and time on NBC this fall.
Lindsay Lohan has broken her silence with a tweet from rehab. Instead of complaining about being stuck in rehab for 90 days or fuming over her lack of Adderall, the troubled actress posted something a bit more positive. The tweet in question also included a link to an app called Just Sing It!. According to the official description, the app is like “Instagram for your voice.” Much to everyone’s surprise, Lindsay Lohan’s return to Twitter included the lyrics to the Wizard of Oz song “Somewhere Over the Rainbow.” The posted also offered up a few words which suggest the actress’ time in rehab might be doing her some good. “It’s up to us to make the best of what we have,” the Mean Girls star wrote. Things have apparently settled down a bit for Lohan now that her treatment at the Betty Ford Center is underway. Earlier this month, reports surfaced that the actress was experiencing a bit of a meltdown after doctors determined she didn’t need her prescription for Adderall. According to various reports, the decision to take the pills away didn’t settle well with Lohan. Sources explained that the troubled star was strongly considering parting ways with the rehab facility. It’s believed she’s worried that the lack of Adderall will make her gain weight. “Lindsay has been able to eat whatever she has wanted and not gain weight for years and she attributes this to Adderall … everyone knows that the controversial drug ramps up your metabolism, and can suppress the appetite,” sources said about the actress’ reaction. The Liz & Dick star’s recent tweet can be found below. source

Every year, 20 of the world's best new movies compete at the film festival. But there is also the marché, where other cinematic hopefuls are bought and sold. Copposites
From the director of I Now Pronounce You Black And White – apparently one of South Africa’s highest-grossing “local” comedies – comes another farce of dubious racial profiling and belated cinematic bandwagon-jumping. A washed-up white cop and a black crook trying to go straight are accidentally body-swapped in a lab. Redemptive hilarity follows. Tumblr. Flickr. Now Hulu? If a new rumor is to be believed, Yahoo has placed a bid on the TV/movie platform. The rumor originates from a source speaking to AllThingD, and claims that Yahoo officially submitted the bid to Hulu earlier this morning. Currently how much Yahoo is offering and other specifics are unknown. Beyond Yahoo, there are also other interested parties in Hulu such as DirecTV, KKR, the Chemin Group, Guggenheim Digital, Willaim Morris Endeavor, Time Warner Cable and Silverlake. The source further asserts that all interested companies were told by Hulu to have their bids in by this coming Wednesday. In other words, Hulu seems pretty intent on selling – or at least that’s the word on the web. Hulu has quickly become a go-to alternative for many folks looking to cut the cord on cable, or a supplement for those looking to augment their existing programming. Under new hands, it is hard to say what will happen to Hulu and how its service model might change. IF Hulu really is planning to sell soon, who do you hope gets the winning bid? Would you be concerned if Yahoo did add Hulu to their growing arsenal of services? Source: http://www.mobilemag.com/2013/05/25/yahoo-hulu/where...
