Lucky for you I have a very loose idea of what constitutes a friend.

It's can't believe it's gone. All the good times and bad times we spent together. The photos i've retouched, the emails I've sent. The viruses I've had, the spyware I've inadvertently put on it.
It's the end of an era....and the beginning of clients going apeshit at me looking for their work.
I bought the fabric on ebay. There are three colourways available:

I finally got around to moving the portable air conditioner back into the office. No idea why it took me so long since it's been stinking hot for weeks and weeks now.
Eating two poached + freshly laid* duck eggs on toast.
I love my ducks.
*Freshly laid = 1 hour ago
Every time I have a setback with my photography, I seem to take it so hard. It really frustrates me.

This is part of a costume I am making for
nyted to wear for her shoot at the end of the month. It's only partially complete, a lot more bejeweling to go yet but I can bet you it is going to be kickass. It's about 4 inches at it's widest point and sits up under the boobs, to create an empire line effect. Picture it with billowing black and white striped satin for the skirt (and huge train) and you'll be starting to get the idea.
So many things to get though! I still need the weft of hair I've had my eye on on ebay, some long black gloves, paint for the backdrops (further to that we still need to construct one of the backdrops) more fabric for the curtaining and a whole bunch of artificial flowers.
Just cleaned out the duck enclosure and am now:
1. Wet
2. Sweaty
3. Hot
4. Smelling of duck poop, sugar cane mulch and stagnant mud.
Don't get me wrong, I love rainy days, but after a week of this crap I'd like some dryness please...if only for the ducks sake.
I liked the image I messed with of Anekie so much I tried it out with the other shots from the day. I don't think they're as successful, but I thought I'd post them for posterity:
Still Anekie. I can't believe how different she looks in every photo!

Well about 5 minutes after my previous post my model turned up. Unfortunately once she got here I didn't have time to amend my post, so I was a wee bit embarrassed when I checked my LJ late this afternoon and saw everyone coming in to bat for me.
Anyhow, the shoot was a great success and Anekie was a pleasure to shoot. Here's the one I've managed to edit so far. Plenty more coming though!

Darren just bought me a bejeweler. Hehehehe, I will be blinging up EVERYTHING, so watch out!
I did a photoshoot with Amanda Palmer, frontwoman of the Dresden Dolls. It was a great experience and flowed smoothly thanks to help of MUA Frankie Fong and my assistants,
definatalie and
0brokenempire0. Unfortunately at this stage I can't post any images, however
definatalie has some snapshots from the day on her journal which provide an interesting insight into what goes on behind the scenes.
It's been a while since I've posted any images of props in progress. Here's a floral border I'm getting ready for a big shoot on Wednesday:
Just wondering if anyone on my friendslist who lives locally has a paper fan, preferably in a pastel pink or blue that I can borrow for a photoshoot on Wednesday?

Well my voting is done. Hopefully I get the outcome I want: -either way I have a carton of beer to celebrate with/nurse my wounds with.
Any of you Brisbane people live in or know anyone who lives in a 1950's or 1960's house who would allow me to use their driveway (and a little bit of electricity I would reimburse them for) for a photoshoot that will probably take place next weekend?
I'm really desperate and it's about the only element of the shoot I haven't managed to sort out.
It would very wonderful if everyone or at least a whole heap of you on my friends list tried to list as many Australian stereotypes as possible. The magazine I am shooting the cover for has had a change of plan and the image I have to shoot needs to show what it means to be Australian, preferably in a humourous light. I've been trying to concoct ideas all weekend, and seriously, I have very little beyond the way-too-obvious....so I REALLY need your help.

Well not really, but it's always nice to be published again:

Never thought I'd get into M.I.A. Stranger things have happened I guess.
I spent ages today trying to style this wig and it still looks like crap. I can't do real hair and I can't even do fake hair.
So yesterday I got back from my 5 day trip to Sydney to shoot a band for their upcoming album (Can't say anything more than that). Today I got a call from YMI magazine wanting to do a feature on my work and an email from the editor of one of the local street press papers inquiring about booking a shoot.
Pretty cool eh?
So I'm thinking I might have another exhibition early 2008 since I'm getting a lot of interest. A more professional one this time...ie: at a gallery, not a bar.
So yeah, I've said it before but my days of tfp are well and truly over. Soz :P
Just thought I'd take y'all for a visual trip down the interweb memory lane:
Remember this loveable pair?

Awwww....the golden age of spyware.
Thankyou. That is all.
Do any of my Sydney LJ friends know of anyone who owns and would rent me a lounge such as this? Or anyone know of any antique dealers in Sydney who rent for film and television purposes?
Is there a Sydney LJ community where I could direct my enquiry?

So I am sat here with a bottle of wine. The entire week gone has been a washout and I've got nothing done. Not sure if I'm depressed or just worn out. I've up to my eyeballs in work that I just keep ignoring. I know tomorrow will bring phone calls and demands which I'm not looking forward to. I'm going to try to get some done tonight.
Anyhow, on a happier note I have walked 8 out of the last 10 days, which is a start...but I did totally forget about my appointment with the psychologist which makes me feel pretty guilty and well...like a bad person.
Anyhow, deep down I know I'm not.
I also cleaned my room which has had a carpet of clothes for about 6 months now, so thats a progress of sorts right?
Worked with the amazing
nyted on Wednesday. Her skin is translucent and otherworldly which makes these slightly off kilter images really work. Her hand shapes make Jarvis Cocker look like an amateur.

I had an excellent shoot with
nyted yesterday, but I was all photo-ed out today, so I decided to make cupcakes instead...but then I found myself wanting to take photos of them...go figure!

^ These ones have rose petal flavoured frosting

^ These ones have vanilla frosting and sugared violet petals on them
Slowly getting through these. Here's a couple more. More tomorrow I guess :)

Also....
I have updated the print shop on my site, right up to date with all my latest work so if you're feeling so inclined, stop by and have a look! Click Here
Here's a teaser from today's shoot with Charlie:
More to come tomorrow most probably.
After a sit down with my shrink, I've decided that flattering my work won't get you a TFP shoot anymore these days. That's not stuck up, thats me growing some balls. I don't ask you to work at your checkout chick job for free, don't expect me to take your photo for free...you know, unless I approach you or something.
It is my sole income.
I'm taking my lights to get fixed tomorrow. The cat knocked the 250w one over some time ago now and I learned to get by without it, but while I was away on holidays the ducks started laying eggs (Sounds unrelated, I know) and I guess the one that is laying currently got a bit of a fright the first time it popped one out and let out some huge squarks in the wee hours of the morning causing my darling husband to blindly run into the studio to look out the big glass door to see what all the commotion was about....as a result he knocked over one of the 500w lights, and now it doesn't work either leaving me with one 500w to work with and the old floodlights I used to use (I am never ever ever going back to that hell). So anyway, tomorrow I drive to Kayell to get them fixed in W'Gabba. Not sure how much it will cost. The 500w appears to just be a broken modelling and flash tube broken, expensive but I know roughly what it will cost, whereas the one the cat broke appears to be an electrical problem, maybe something to do with the fuse and that is a bit scary price-wise, especially if it has to be sent back to Germany, so lets hope not. I've had to postpone so many shoots, many with all my favorite models. Was supposed to shoot the lovely Charlie yesterday, but had to put that off and the guys from Urbanest were going to help me with a special project of mine....also put off till the lights are fixed.
Waaaahhhh :( :( :(
In other news, we now get approximately 1 shiny duck egg per day which makes up for the amount of duck guano they cover the yard in. We made omelettes last Friday and they were bloody awesome.
I've been away on holidays to my hometown of Wodonga on the VIC/NSW border which hopefully quells the, "WTF OMG what have I done to offend you?", pile of emails and messages some of the more paranoid people I know have sent me. I don't know why I didn't tell anyone I was going away. I just didn't feel like it.
Anyway, it was nice to go back and visit places I hadn't seen in 10 years and to see how things have changed. Interesting to see how citified I've become and how attitudes differ between the country and the city.
I did manage to squeeze in a couple of shoots, but they weren't especially successful for a number of reasons. Anyhow, I'm sure I'll salvage something from them to show. Here's one I had a go at earlier this afternoon:

My friends came up to visit me in Albury from Melbourne which only goes to show what great people they are. 3 hours in a car to visit me for one night (It only took them 2 but they are speed demons). I was beyond flattered and we had a really nice night, I only wish I got to spend more time with them. These days it's always so fleeting. Maybe later in the year.
Anyhow, I managed to get the flu while I was away and have a fairly severe case of super sore back due to lugging my suitcases between terminals at Sydney airport while I changed planes. So I'm going to take some more Mersyndol and go to bed.
I realise not everyone is going to "get" these, so I'll make this the last one I put up.

Can someone who knows a bit about lenses tell me if a 24mm f/2.8 lens is going to be a good starting point for some wide angle portraiture?
Got bored, made this. Colgate sending cease and desist letter any moment now....

Magdalena and I finally settled on this image. It pushed me well beyond what I'd usually attempt in photoshop, but it's kind of kitschy and cool. Yay!
