BioSo I succumbed and got myself a livejournal - its often accessible where outbound ssh or webmail is blocked (go figure...) but mainly too many friends are here and with locked posts. This is for me to follow friends' posts rather than inflict much of my own wit and wisdom on the unwary - if I had the answer to life, the universe and everything I'd be Douglas Adams and able to write something interesting here. LJ helps me keep up with existing friends; new people and rediscovered people have proved to be an unexpected bonus.
I'm really, really bad at finding people who know me (especially from their LJ names), please tell me if I've missed you.
LJ friending...silly name for a linking mechanism. I reciprocate links and welcome new people. I am not on LJ reliably - linking either way is not a value judgement on people or their writing. I read and post here as I do on Usenet - I miss chunks of time without catching up, I post nothing in public which I couldn't post to Usenet. Rare protected posts are simply not of relevance beyond those who have linked to my journal. I prefer email for anything else.
Apparently I'm supposed to put some interests in here, so I've finally dropped in a random sample, cunningly chosen to demonstrate that I am Om's gift to creation. Comments about the excellent disguise will earn a hard stare.
