08:42 pm - Reflections on life and the year that was 2011
A year is an interesting space of time. We comprehend it as something huge and yet are surprised when supermarkets are stocking hot cross buns and Christmas decorations go on sale. We use it to measure milestones and celebrate our existence on this planet by how many of these blocks of time we've been alive. We make promises of what we will and won't do in the new year, we feel it offers us a chance to start again, a clean slate.
I guess I'm no different. Time has come again for my annual reflection of the year gone and the year to come. Well, the time came and went as we are almost halfway through January now but I know that if I don't do it, a year from now I will be angry that I didn't. I have been doing this for quite a few years now and, like most my writing, I do it for myself. A lot of my life is recorded in some written form - old diaries and blogs, stories and scrawls on pages.

A heads up, this reflection kind of gets away from me. It is likely to turn into a case of tl;dr. I write for myself and so I can look back on it later. It will probably end up unfinished, I'll only stop when I get to the point that I don't want to read or write it anymore. But it's what I do.

So what more can I say?
2012 will be the year of app development, research, making my way up in the world, making new connections and keeping up with existing ones. It will be the year I get my health sorted out in terms of mind, body and soul. I don't think the end of the world is coming in 2012 but I'm going to make it an awesome year regardless.
We're already halfway through January. Many of us seem to have the perception that time is going faster and I think it is because the world changes so fast and we find it hard to keep up. I can't even begin to imagine where I'll be a year from now.
But I am excited. All the best to all my friends for 2012. <3

Day 08 - A picture that makes you laugh
Exactly four months ago yesterday, it was three days before Christmas. I was at work with my mum and it was our last store for the day. With three shopping days left, the rush in the supermarkets had picked up so I was very much looking forward to getting home.
So I was kneeling on the ground, doing my thing, filling the cheese bar and I get that feeling that someone is standing behind us. I turn my head and see a figure looming behind us, but I quickly recognised the bright blue uniform of the Fonterra milkies. I nudge mum and tell her one of her colleagues was there to talk to her.
She stands up and greets him, then introduces us and asks him about his recent trip to Europe. I'm standing there staring at him trying to figure out why he looks so familiar. There comes a break in the conversation and I say...

I am very nostalgic and a hoarder. I keep anything any everything with any sentimental value, therefore I have a lot of treasured items. I chose this one because it was given to me on Valentines day 5 years ago by someone who is now deceased so it is definitely an item I treasure.

I have finally gotten around to tidying my room and sorting out my clothes. Even though I don't often suit T-shirts, I love how many I've accumulated over the past year from awesome events I've attended and all of which trigger good nostalgic memories. So as usual, I am cheating by not playing favourites because each of these are my favourite memories from the past year.
