I sold my car and decided to rough out a Syracuse Winter with a bicycle that Holly bought me for my birthday. Oh, and I have a new tattoo of a helm I designed a long time ago. Its on my left arm now and you can barely see it in the photo below but I'll post a better pic sooner or later.

hiatus

so the ivory trade has been on a hiatus for about a month. i'm not sure whats going on. meanwhile, i've been talking to my friend aaron who wants to have me play bass for his band (think russian circles, explosions in the sky, etc). i'm still thinking about that. I'm also considering doing solo stuff under the moniker "king of nothing". so, we'll see how this pans out. www.myspace.com/thekingofnothings

the new sigur ros album is nice.
keith, justin & i are recording this month for the ivory trade's new ep.
meagan & i will be collaborating for an art show or two in the fall this year.
the ivory trade is playing a show july 12th. i have flyers i'll put up around syracuse when july rolls around.

a beer before bed keeps this stuck in my head.

I've been working on different ways to draw people for a comic book I'm going to be illustrating for a friend of mine. I really like the guys on the top left. I love how simple it looks & how their faces are. The bottom drawings would work too but I think I'd rather use them for a project later on. I'll admit, I could have put more time on the guys beard on the left.

Oh, a heart. A heart is found without blister or boil. It is held without warning or foul play and no one is the wiser of its greatness. Thursday morn, the hunt began. Through the trees & weeds; over rock and dirt and bone and blood the men clamored for glory. Throwing their weight against each other; each one lusted after the sweetness of victory and when it came, its pockets were rich & deep indeed. But nothing is free in this world. They must sacrifice what matters the most in times of passion and struggle. The heart. Yes, the blood organ. No veins or tunnels of atrophy, no red meat or cold, blue arteries; just the heart. And when the victor came down the mountain, he was no longer a man, but a hollow beast. He had tasted of her lips & legs and found satisfaction.

Her mane in his face, he stuck to his mantra, “I no longer stand on two legs or wander in vain. No longer filthy with shame. No more body giving way. No disease or decay or begging for you to stay. It was the dust from whence I came, and to the dust will I remain”.

i, finally, saw brand new in rochester (RIT) but i was really disappointed.
disappointed because of the shitty 13 year olds for being alive and at that show, ruining it.
who moshes to brand new? tell me. seriously.
also, why do 13 year olds even listen to brand new. i was listening to them in high school.
strange.

at least brand new sounded amazing. great performance.
olp is still the best show i've ever seen.
