Because I just watched the Saitama Super Arena fancam of Love in the Ice. Because then I started listening to the Soul Power live version and searched for the lyrics. Because Junsu cries out 切ないほど美しい愛だから, every time, in a voice about to cry, and I remember why I love and hope and put my heart into this band.

A quick, spur-of-the-moment translation.

The entire reason I decided to translate were for these two sentences alone: 切ないほど美しい愛だから, 儚いほど麗しいこの時を— when Junsu sings those two sentences, every time, I'm so moved. English does not do those two sentences justice; neither did the other translation I read, which, although very accurately translated, was very literal & mangled those two amazing lines. :|

If you haven't already heard it, please do. This is live, and it's beautiful and heartbreaking. Junsu's part starts at 3:18. This is my favorite live ballad performance of DBSK, ever. (Though I'm can't wait until the T concert DVD comes out & I can watch them perform Kiss shita mama, sayonara. EDIT: OMFG I JUST HEARD LIVE RIP OF KISS SHITA MAMA SAYONARA T_T IT'S AMAZING I'M SO MOVED RIGHT NOW THIS IS MAKING ME CRY.)

LOL. A long time. Uhh since I was like, 14? 15? Around five years? I went to Japanese school for a while, too. But really it's only been this year did I really improve. (College Japanese classes kick my ass :D)

Yeah, not knowing words/needing to consult the dictionary really detracts from the "feel" of a song. :P

Oh, wow. That feels like the perfect translation of those two lines, as difficult as they are to put in English. I love the emotion Junsu always puts into those two lines, gah~ ♥ I tried translating this song for my friend who doesn't know Japanese but even though I could understand it fine I couldn't find the right words in English, you've done an amazing job at it! :D

I totally agree that when Junsu sang the two lines with the boys coming in one by one...I was almost moved to tears when I heard it...totally touching...

A superb live rendition...

Junsu kills me everytime. There is something so special about that man, when he sings it really just blows my mind.
And Love In The Ice is just one of those songs- its fantastic

(and oh god I just listened to live to Kissしたまま、さよなら ;__; that made me cry too, oh junsu~)

wow. its the nicest translation of liti i've seen so far. because it shows the most of actual japanese lyrics. i've always wanted to transtlate it but i knew i won't put it right in english. though i guess it will never soubd in any other language as beautiful as in japanese. setsunai hodo utsukushii ai dakara. hakanai hodo uruwashii kono toki wo..

Yeah I totally agree. Japanese lyrics tend to throw out parts of phrases, or just images alone for the reader to piece together. Everything is implied. In English it just doesn't work that way. And that's why I really don't like literal translations. -_- Even if it's beautiful in Japanese translating it literally won't make it (as) beautiful in English.

ok this is really really late but dear lordy, that's possibly the best translation out there. This song is one of the boy's best ones (from my POV, of course) and now, with your translation in hand, I think I'm going to go to my corner and sob.
