I think I hate cars forever. I have terrible luck.

Last night I was driving to get some ice cream with Jesse and Maribeth and Nanner and it was raining pretty hard and I was going around a turn...basically the car started sliding on the road and trying to go into the other lane. I kept trying to correct it but it wasn't going to happen. I kept my cool though and didn't slam on the breaks or let it swerve into the other lane but in spun out of control and we went sort of flying into a ditch.

As this was happening in the type of slow motion only car crashes can create, I thought, well this is it, I am about to be dead. It felt like the car was going to flip, but then we suddenly stopped. We probably should have died, but we lucked out.

Somehow none of were even injured, and somehow my car didn't crunch, no glass broke, no extensive body damage even. I'm pretty sure the car isn't even totaled; I think it made it through with only some body damage to the rear. If it is I have no idea what I will do.

The ditch was really deep and muddy and I kept sinking and I even fell and scraped the swollen bump on my knee from when I hurt it the other night. We were lucky though because we just barely missed a part of the ditch that was deeper and rockier.

14 people stopped to ask if we were okay and offered help. (Jesse counted). A cop eventually showed up. He talked down to me and made me feel like shit. He told me I didn't know the definition of hydroplane (even though when I told him what I thought it meant, his definition was the same as mine but with different words) and said I was simply going to fast and lost control of the car. This is not what happened. I either hydroplaned or the car slipped on the mud and pine straw that was all over the road. I know I wasn't taking the turn too fast because you can feel it when you're going too quickly around a turn and I didn't feel it. Plus I wasn't driving recklessly or even over the speed limit. But, the ass hole wrote me a ticket. I think he should have given me a high five for not slamming on the breaks or hitting another car. So for handling the situation well and probably saving our lives, I get a ticket. Hooray!

I'm just glad no one is hurt and I'm really hoping my car isn't totaled. If I end up with two totaled cars this year I'll know that all odds are against me and probably never drive again.
