So here is all about the mead session.
I had rather positive commnts from people, mates said it was "fun", my younger bro' thought it "entertaining", my aunt said "amusing", my mum said "*yawn* have to go to bed", which was possibly the most positive comment of them all: she's not afriad the house may blow up anymore.
I now have a funky looking demi-jon (which incidentally is called a Dame Jeanne in French, if anyone's got a clue on which one came first i'd be interested), and is presently bubbling about happily as alcohol is being made. How satisfying! After an hour and a half of intense and hard work (intense 'cause we were 7 peeps in about 6m², hard 'cause the pastis we had been drinking beforehand wasn't helping), the yeast is now doing all the job. I must say i do hope this turns out ok 'cause it is the first batch i brew here in france and i got so many people excited about mead that i can't quite afford it being crap..
Anyway, Neil's recipie was mostly followed so i figure i'm pretty safe (though last time i said that yeast died :P). We shall see. If anyone fancy tasting it, come over around mid septembre and you'll have a free tasting session (you lucky beast), accomodation being of course provided.
More brewing news will come as proportions for the Unfortunate Mead are being worked on..
(leek and mustard seed anyone?)
