Let's talk about Sex and Violence.

Okay, here's one computer I'm looking at

  • May. 19th, 2008 at 8:43 AM
Intel Core 2 Quad Processor Q6600 (8MB L2 cache,2.4GHz,1066FSB)
Genuine Windows Vista® Home Premium
19 inch S199WFP Widescreen Digital Flat Panel Monitor with TrueLife*
2GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz- 2DIMMs
500GB Serial ATA Hard Drive (7200RPM) w/DataBurst Cache™
16X DVD+/-RW Drive
nVidia GeForce 8300GS 128MB
Integrated 7.1 Channel Audio
Dell USB Keyboard and Dell Optical USB Mouse

This would be $679. This is nicely in my price range.

Few questions:

Is the nVidia GeForce 8600GT-DDR3 256MB video card worth an additional $90?

Is going to 3GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz - 4 DIMMs worth an additional $50?

Is this a good computer for the price? (I think so, but I know very little about hardware.)

My game's down-time area

Here is the hall of Lord Burvelle's palace which he has kindly consented to allow people to talk in.
He will repeat his request that you all play nice, and ask that you all keep your small armies off his lands.
You are allowed two guards in the room per lord(ling), with another two outside, and the true king is allowed a number of guards which pervents his men from being outnumbered by this detail.
If anyone wants to make an expression of trust by not bringing in the numbers he is allowed, please state this here.
Giles, I don't have Greg's email while in work, so could you post a link to him?

Very productive spring-cleaning weekend done - now for the sorting through the toys bags to see which ones Monkey is happy about giving away. Obviously none get the heave without her say-so - been on the receiving end of that in my time, and it sucks!

I don't know how she found room to sleep when I look at the pile that we have to go through... :)

Really looking forward to my week in Glasgow, even though a lot of it will be spent getting flat ready for sale. Just being in Glasgow makes everything feel better - and this time I'm going to Hampden! I just realised that as well as Queens getting to the final, this will be the first time I've ever been to a game at Hampden. That's going to be awesome.

Also lots of boodeepbeep!

Trying to work out if will be able to make it to the national. It's going to depend on how well things go at flat & what travel arrangements are possible. Would really like to go, but the practicalities may mean that I'll be giving it a miss.

TBH, although I would love to go, it isn't going to ruin the week if I can't - going to be so much fun! *bounce*

Not that I'm counting or anything ;-)

Rolling to Bed

  • May. 19th, 2008 at 6:56 AM

Headed to bed, magnificently tired, but rather than put up a short Twitter with the briefest capsule you can imagine, I figured I might actually post a few words.

Shocking, I know. Terrifying, really.

Midnight Reign was awesome and I’ll go on at greater length tonight on the Operation BSU LJ community as well as promoting next week’s band. But … man, Joeseph and Starla were two of the simultaneously nicest and most entirely fucked up people it’s ever been our great pleasure to interview. If you need a laugh today, go listen to yesterday’s show. Seriously, you’ll find more than one good time to burst out in malicious giggles. Totally well worth it.

Unrelatedly, my fingernail’s still attached, but it feels weird, as if it were numb in the area up by the cuticle and more attached further down. There’s a band of darkening area across just by the cuticle which suggests it might really want to shed at some point, which concerns me to some degree. If it keeps being “weird,” I may simply have to call my old dermatologist and beg and plead to see what he can do for some poor moron with no health insurance and no real way to pay him. And I have to get in touch with the Medicare people. Oh, yes, and the morons at the orthopedic place that was supposed to look at me and get back to VocRehab.

If it weren’t for [info]tryptophan, my entire opinion of the medical establishment would be shot all to Hell.

Good show, last night. And I’ve been doing piles of VOs for RadioDaddy requests for the past week and some. Oh, yes, and in addition to my promo that went out to various podcasts, I cut a “station ID” for Girls’ Night In which we’ll have to see if they’ll end up using. I’ve suggested to [info]stellabambino and [info]point5b that they do one as well.

Hell, all of my readers should do one, all claiming to be from Operation BSU. I say that the best way to the awareness of humanity is through madness. And we got that if nothing else.

Yeah, madness.

Short versions: I’m not dead. Go listen to my show. I’ll write more as it comes to me.

Miss you guys. Drop in sometime.

There are few things...

A bacon and egg barm for breakfast can't fix!

Yayayayayayay.

Last night was a lot of fun. Up until the end. Kol, Pips and I were stood outside the church smoking after the gig. Pips danger sense went up and we saw a couple local scallies walking from the chip shop. They said they were looking for their 'mate.'

They started giving a bit of lip, we did our best to be civil. Then one started going on about how his friend cornered one of 'us' and how awesome it was. He was talking about them jumping Matt a few years ago. Apparently this particular little scrote was there.

It took every ounce of restraint I had not to do something stupid. They finished it off by kicking the door in Kol's face as he was locking up.

Kol seemed a bit shaken but Vicar Andy took care of everything.

I'm angry, but reassured. It at least means there's only a small amount of these little fuckwits walking around. I just wish someone would kick the shit out of these little fucks. At least so badly they'd be taken off the streets. Ideally so badly they'd be removed from the universe.

Online gaming...

CoC Extra

  • May. 19th, 2008 at 8:05 AM
In response to my previous post about last Monday's CoC game, the GM, John, has come up with sensible set of advice under the heading of: "Other things to remember". I thought that it was good sensible advice that would be useful to all CoC players and not just me (Right John? John?) and thought I'd repost it here.
Other things to remember. Or have to be constantly reminded that:

1) You do not have a Lewis Gun.

2) The pistol you do have only has one bullet left.

3) Shooting people in the head is a major faux-pas in high society, even if you aim the shot to avoid splattering blood over the other people sitting at the same table.

4) A subsequent conviction for murder is not considered an advantage in 1920's British Politics. In some other countries maybe, but not Britain.

5) A sock is not a lethal weapon.
