just me
1. The GSL rebellion seems to be going full swing, but like the corporations in Star Wars I think I'll let this go on for a little while before I pin my flag to either side. AFAIK the copyright laws regarding systems are the same over here as they are in the US as I've seen similar 'compatible' products sold over here.

2. Someone should SO 'Osric' Cyberpunk 2020 given that CP3.0 was so bloody awful.

On 1: I pretty much feel the same way you do.

On 2: Oh, dear god, yes. Actually, CP3 is a disservice to the word "awful".

2. I'm too busy at the moment with other things but may consider doing it in the near future.

What's the current story with this whole GSL thing then?

As for CPv3, I could see what they were trying to do but it really didn't work very well. Even less so with the crappy art.

The current story with the whole GSL thing is that a fistful of companies are using existing copyright law to make compatible products without bothering with the whole GSL thing, Kenzer and Adamant for starters.

That's quite funny. I'd be interested to see how that goes.

So you would say that CP2020 rules set was much better than the CPv3 rules set?

Just talking about rules. Not setting or art/design.

Yes, vastly. The only hitch we ever had with it were the armour rules, but we managed to improvise around that well enough with some rules for degrading armour.

Absolutely.

Interlock was almost perfect for CP2020 (see Grims comment about armour degredation house rules), the Fusion rules I feel didn't add anything and in some cases made things way more difficult than they needed to be.

Plus the damage track was an almost perfect solution to a fusion of 'hit points' and more realistic location oriented damage.

Indeed, especially with the 8 Points severs a location rule.

Didn't we have to drop into Fuzion for scaling damage?

Anyway CP2020 it would be good to see a refresh of CP2020. It would be good to see a fresh approach to netrunners and hacks to acquire intel, and then provide them with something to do during the action.
My experience of running was always a bit hit and miss.

I would also make availability of resources harder meaning the role of a Fixer (PC or NPC) becomes absolutely key and a great source of side-quests and obligations.

Not quite, Maximum Metal provided a vehicle scale of damage which was basically the Kills system from Mekton Z (which itself used a modified version of Interlock), that gave us all the scaling for vehicle damage that we could possibly need.

As for improvemnets, definately do something about netrunning to make it flow better with the rest of the action and yes make resourcers harder to get, but not all the time.

Pervasive Surveillance would also become a major factor.

Max Metal!! How could I forget!?!

'but not all the time' - That's the moment you realise that once you have completed this job that Corporate is going to have you wiped.

There should always be some 'money cant buy' bits and bobs that require pure rep to acquire (and not necessarily with the 'good guys')

GSL is the whole brand-new D&D 4th edition/screw over other publishers thing, right?

Yep, but some companies (Kenzer, Adamant, others) are saying 'Screw you hippy!' and going to the way things used to be done by third parties producing D&D adventures etc 'back in the day'.
