| Bio: | Greetings, Earthling. I come in pieces. Frequent re-assembly required. You've stumbled upon my project journal, which I devote entirely to the craft of writing. I'm a paranoid liddle whelp, and tend to make most of my entries here private or friends-only. But I love to talk shop, so if you're a fellow writer and you'd like to exchange pointers, stories, gripes, etcetera - feel free to say hi, and I'll add you and incessantly annoy you with out-of-the-blue witticisms, literary criticisms and randomosity when necessary (or unnecessary). If I've already added you and that's why you're here, you're probably a writer and/or a NaNo'er. We who NaNo are inestimably cool (at least you are; jury's still out where I'm concerned). This is why I am now haunting your journal, unless of course you'd prefer otherwise. This journal is an exercise in conditioning myself to be the consistent, accomplishing, passionate writer I was until recently. It's my Quest (the latest one, at any rate). I like the word "quest." It sounds... questy. Specific goals: -To write more new fiction. Most of what I begin is usually related to a fantasy epic universe in which I'm more than comfortable. What emerges from it is often writing I like, but I consider it "cheating." -To set goals, track progress and proceed from start to finish through every new story I develop. -To experiment with poetry occasionally. -To experiment with my rudimentary Russian, because I keep saying I'll try and write a story in it, or translate one of my old short stories into Russian. -To keep track of everything and anything in my net-surfing adventures that spawns a story. Never hurts. My other journal, the one where I chronicle the marginally intriguing and seldom thrilling existence of the slightly above-average software engineer, can be found under the username ![[info]](http://p-stat.livejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif){kind=small} mahravat. Much of it is personal and therefore hidden from all except friends. You don't want to read it anyway. Trust me.Last but not least: come to the dark side... NaNo every November with hordes of equally crazy sorts. I've NaNoed every year since 2002, which is to say I managed to procrastinate through the first three weeks of those Novembers and then mash 50,000 words out of my keyboard at all hours of day and night in a panic to reach the finish on time, thinking, breathing and living my novel, forgoing social life, proper sustenance and most of my sleep to satisfy my Quadrumvirate of Muses. If that sounds insane, NaNoWriMo is for you. If it sounds dull... go 'way befo' I smack you one, mo'tal. Grr. | |
