| Hair cut advice? |
[18 May 2013|04:06am] |
Hello!
I'm planning on getting a haircut in the next couple of weeks, but I have no idea what to do. I'm starting a full-time job (!!) in a couple of months, and I'm looking for a cut that isn't terribly high-maintenance & is work-appropriate.
I've never had much luck with haircuts - even when I've gone in prepared with pictures of very simple haircuts, the hairdressers would just tell me that those styles wouldn't work for my curly/wavy/Indian hair, and then wouldn't offer any useful advice. :(
My hair is generally dry (and currently feels kind of unhealthy, as a result of my not caring for it in college) and kind of has a rough texture. It's mostly curly/wavy, but really only gets decent curls when it's as long as it is now (as you can see under the cut). It also only curls this way if I let it air dry (blow-drying, even with a diffuser, makes it incredibly floofy) - but because it's pretty thick / long, it takes quite a while to air dry. I have baby hairs everywhere.
( Pictures hereCollapse )
Any hair cut suggestions? :) Thank you sooo much! :)

| Should I use toner for my roots or bleach them again? |
[17 May 2013|12:49pm] |
I posted on here a few weeks ago about whether it'd be safe to bleach my hair again since it's been several months, and it turned out great! The only problem I encountered, however, is that my roots were already grown out a good bit (auburn-colored), and I ended up not leaving the bleach in my roots long enough, but I left it in my hair the perfect amount. So now the rest of my hair is the white-ish color I want, but my roots are still orangey. I've tried my purple shampoo a lot, but it's not really helping with the whole root situation.
So should I use toner on my roots and maybe it'd get to the right color, or are they too dark to where I should just bleach them again instead?
I tried to insert pictures for reference, but it's not showing up...

| HAIR DYING HELP |
[14 May 2013|10:59pm] |
My natural color is dark brown but over the winter I dyed it this color and now my hair is super red.

I want to go back to my natural color and then ombre the bottom to blonde to look similar to this:

What is the easiest/best way to achieve this with an at home color kit and what recommendations for brands do you guys have? THANKS!!!

What is a good BB cream for oily skin? I'd like to use one for laying out at the pool or beach. A good SPF and coverage would be nice since my skin is sometimes acne-prone. Last year I used the Too Faced BB cream and it was waay too dewy for me. Oh, and I have fair skin, but I get pretty dark in the summertime.

| Dressing down a gown |
[08 May 2013|01:28pm] |
Next month, I have a violin recital at a local VFW hall. I'll be playing classical music and it's most likely taking place in the ballroom of the VFW hall. I've been searching for dresses and I didn't see anything that caught my eye until yesterday. It's my first recital and it's been ages since I've had to buy clothes for a concert. In school, it was always a white blouse with black bottoms, so that was easy enough.
I found a dress on sale, and under my budget by $30 (and 60 percent off!), so I bought it. Now I'm thinking that I may be way overdressed, and would like suggestions on how to make the dress look more casual.

I was thinking of wearing a blazer over the top, provided that my arms will still move around well. I don't plan on wearing jewelry aside from earrings, I don't want to risk anything getting caught or tangled while I'm playing.
I'd also consider a cardigan if that's more comfortable.
