if all goes well... @ 10:09 pm

Current Mood: cheerful

I will soon be learning how to assemble a skateboard...then I'll start learning to skate! I will fall a lot, laugh a lot, be laughed at and probably bust something. I'm really looking forward to it, it will be nice to try something that's new to me. I've got the best teacher I could ask for as long as I don't ruin it, haha.

Halloween!!! and an unorganized life catch-up. @ 03:11 am

Current Mood: excited

It's been years since I've done anything for Halloween, so I decided I have to do something this year. I don't think I'll trick-or-treat or anything, but I AM gonna dress up and hang out. I'm hoping to learn to do gorey make-up (keep in mind I've never done REGULAR make-up) and I'm gonna look for some clothes to shred up and bloodify. I'm excited...even if I do a shitty job it will be a blast.

Life has been great these days and I'm happy--some sort of crazy things have gone on, but the great things outweigh the bad ones. Nothing's bringing me down.

I've been trying to spend more time with family. In the past couple of weeks I've visited my grandma on dad's side and my aunt and uncle who live with her. The other day I went to her house, we sat and talked for a good four or five hours and it was so nice. Yesterday I took her to the movies--we saw Lakeview Terrace. My great-grandma turns 90 tomorrow (today now that it's well after midnight) and I'm going to go visit with her for a while. It's amazing, she is uber lively for her age. I can only hope to live that long and still be as energetic.

I have four kittens now, and one of them will come with me whenever I end up moving. I named her Nubs. She was born with a tail but when she was two days old it got chewed most of the way off so I took her to the vet to get what was left of it cut off and get the nub medicated. so now she's a bobtail kitten. She's super super affectionate and adorable. All the kittens are sweet, but I can't take on more than one so the rest of them are staying at home when the time comes.

My car has been temperamental lately, but I think it's fine for now. School's pretty good, I guess, getting the basic prereqs out of the way and figuring out what I really want to do. I would like to be able to move anywhere I want, anytime, without being tied down to some campus--even if I don't end up relocating I want the option--so I'm thinking about signing up for an online program sometime. Anyway, it's still up in the air.

I'm trying to find a steadier job. I've been cleaning houses but I don't get many hours. I'd like a job where I don't have to worry about appearances because I want to mess with my hair a bit... I want something that will get good hours. My options, I think, are manual labor jobs, and telemarketer/customer service call center type jobs. I'd prefer the labor jobs because I hate the idea of a phone job but I will take whatever I can get. I just want to be able to get by AND save extra money for whatever. I'd like to move out, go on trips, buy things I need and things I don't... I got to looking at my folder of tattoo plans tonight and I really want to start my sleeve, but that will be pricey. So I think I'm gonna try to save up to get my small, simple tattoo done--the Sagittarius symbol on my wrist. I have sensitive skin though, so I probably need to get test spots of all the colors if they even do anything like that. I hope I'm not allergic to any ink. If I am though, I guess that'll save me some cash.

On another note, I'm bidding on a dress on ebay. I don't have the money really...but it was pretty cheap and I couldn't pass it up. Hopefully I don't have to compete for it...and hopefully it fits me, haha. I can always make it work though, with the magical sewing machine! Speaking of stitches, I had a massive headache earlier and couldn't sleep (still can't), so I finally got around to cutting the legs off at the knee, from these comfy jeans I love that have grown super-raggedy over the years. I need to patch up the leg/crotch then I'm good to go, I'll have a new pair of shorts, sort of.

Some infomercial is on for starting a free website business, no computer literacy required--actually, general literacy is optional--sit on your fat ass and magically money will come flying out of it. That's nice, but all I can think is...these spokesladies' breasts are about to fall out of their shirts, and I can't imagine that the viewers are actually retaining any of the information...or do the large breastestes enhance listening skills? I ponder important things...Ugh, I ought to get some sleep.

Whoa!
Well...I'm still alive.
All's well, I think.
A lot has happened...but I never post anything relevant to real life. Maybe, just maybe, I will. Some time.

Gotta love Of Montreal. At least, I've got to. They make me happy.

This lady has been one of my ongoing projects the past month or two...very very much left to do, but this is where I have gotten.
Used a photo reference and grid method but altered much, and will be changing it even more.

no worries.

some vague impression @ 09:16 pm

there are some things I miss that I shouldn't. but maybe if I wait...
it's all I can do now anyway.

yesterday was a good day.

got home from school, and spent the rest of the day with Richard, and Camille...she's an old friend who moves around a lot so I rarely see her any more...not that Richard isn't cool too, but he lives in town.

we all had cheesecake.

went to Barnes & Noble, and I bought Just A Modern Rock Story.

I got an "I <3 Zombies" pin from Camille.

came back to my house, we all had food and I forced those kids to finally witness Boondock Saints in all its greatness.

then they left.

and I slept.

haven't really been doing much lately, aside from work and school and the occasional outing.
it's okay, though.
I made some time for myself in the past few days to play around with drawing in photoshop.
I used a photo reference--which I found on BME zine. if I knew who he was, I'd credit, or would have asked permission or something.. oh well, if there is a problem I'll find out sooner or later.
anywho..here is the worrrk in progresss.

hadn't seen Minh in a while, so we made plans for today...he, Megan and I went to the nature sanctuary to hike around--and take pictures so we could use up the rest of our film before class tomorrow..
went to Wal-Mart and got some film developed from an old camera I'd been meaning to deal with.
then went to Best Buy while we waited for the one hour photo stuff.. I bought the Fans Only DVD, and Megan got Alice Cooooooper.
Minh decided he didn't want to go eat before he went back home, so I talked my dad into dropping me by this mexican restaurant if I ordered take-out since no one wanted to do that whole...sit down and order food there, thing. then I bought him Taco Bell and mom Sonic. bleh.

I think I'm going to watch the DVD now

So, Rufus and Ben Folds on Saturday night...
the show started about an hour late, so we didn't get Ben Lee opening (I've never heard him before anyway), and Rufus's set was cut a little shorter...or probably a lot shorter. eh.
and he played without his band, who was supposed to be performing as well. *shrugs*
gotta take what you can get...and what we got was great.

Do you read me?

If you read me on a regular/semi regular basis, leave me a comment and let me know.

Then post this in your journal and find out who reads you. You'll be surprised how many different people read you, and you never know who you might become friends with.

So I guess doodling when I wasn't supposed to be may have paid off a little this time..
They apparently want me to do some artwork for posters or something at work now. I dunno what, as you never really see pictures on the ads they make...but whatever. A little straying from the usual job should be good.

Current Music: Suburban Legends - Autumn in the Park

In order to get my weekly paycheck and schedule, I have to drop in between 2PM and 4PM on Thursdays to a certain table in the smoking section. Trouble is, I have summer school between 7:30 and 4. And they are well aware of this.

So Alex drops me in front of the store and waits in the car. I walk in there between 4:01-4:05 to a dead shop, and maybe 3 people in the restaurant. No Kelly at the designated table...nobody at all at the table. I ask them to give me my check and schedule... They act as though they are going to get it, so, gullible me, I believe it...

I pace around the shop, waiting, and about ten or fifteen minutes pass. A manager walks by. I ask him about my check and he says he needs to wait until the other managers get done with their business in the office. I'm informed that another manager can get my check for me, but that it will take a little while.

I go apologize to Alex for the time it's taking, and tell him it will be an even longer wait.

Fifteen more minutes go by and one of my co-workers out in the shop with me comments, "Does it really take THAT long to get her check?" to which another co-worker replies "She's waiting for her check? Well, there's a new thing now, that if you don't get here by 4, you have to wait 'til 8 to get your paycheck and schedule."
"Well, they're supposed to be getting it for me right now."
"I was just back there...and the managers are just sitting around doing nothing."

Oh..thanks.

Walked out, tired of waiting for nothing.

Heh. I hope I was scheduled for tomorrow.

I was really looking forward to working on my room tomorrow before work, but then I realized I had to go to school... ack.

Anyhow, yesterday: work, Worlds of Fun, buying neat but pointless shit :D umm, and...roller coasters and stuff..wooo. It'd been years since I'd been to an amusement park...it was nice to get away from home for something other than work/school.

Today... dad's having brake issues and Alex never returned my call, so I had to find an alternate ride from work...got my aunt to pick me up, and instead of going home I went to my grandmother's with her to spend some time with family who was visiting, that I don't see a lot of. It was that or sit...here. I think I made a good choice. I could have worked on my room instead, but it's not going anywhere. I'll have another chance to clean and organize, and so on.
