I have been involved in a couple of conversations about atheism recently. On the last occasion, my companion said, "So. Sell me on your position." After some thought, here's what I've come up with (for now):

I've been doing some heavy procrastinating, so I thought I'd share the temptations.
I did a search on "doberman" on YouTube and noodled around.
here are the two that became my favorites for the day:

PostSecret is an ongoing community art project where people mail in their secrets anonymously on one side of a postcard.

This is my worst fear, that my husband will sleep with my twin sister if we were to ever divorce. This fear alone will ensure we never divorce.

Someone can see now through my mum's eyes. I wish, instead, that she could still be looking at me with them.

I figured it out. Turns out I was deciphering my own secret. I'm going to get over my fear, I'm going to go for it.
-----Email Message----- Sent: Sunday, October 05, 2008 9:56 AM Subject: Secret Code
A PostSecret Community teen recently shared in a forum she couldn't share her secrets as her Mom read her diary and knew her id on PSC. This reminded me how my mother read my diary and reminded me of a secret I had.
Since I had no outlet for expressing my anger, I would write my thoughts in acronyms. I knew exactly what I was saying, but no one else ever would. It was my secret way to let the anger out.
The interesting aspect of this is I would often go back to the writings and what I previously said would now be a mystery even to me. It was my secret yet I couldn't decipher it.

I KNEW IT!

This year a UK and Korean edition of the PostSecret book came out and there are official versions of the website in French, German, Spanish and Korean. This week on Frank's PostSecret Blog on MySpace I interview Brian Cotlove who runs PostSecretFrance.
Hi Brian, can you explain how you started PostSecretFrance?
Being a longtime fan of PostSecret, I always found the foreign language secrets to be the most interesting and appealing to me. I think it's incredible how secrets can cross cultural and language barriers with ease. So I combined my love of the French language and culture with my love of PostSecret, made this video in French and PostSecretFrance was born.
Can you share a postcard with us that has a personal meaning for you and explain why it is special to you?
My favorite secret that I have gotten so far is the simplest one. It's scrawled on a Post-It note and says, "I'm mailing this card because I have the feeling that I'm going to meet the person who will change my life on the way to the post office."

I'm actually kind of jealous of this person because they seem so unfailingly positive and confident. Yet at the same time this secret constantly reminds me how I am able to do just what this person did. I'm amazed every time I read it at how just a little Post-It note can make me feel.
What is a secret about yourself you have never shared before?
(Read the rest of this interview at Frank's PostSecret Blog on MySpace.)

The Today Show will be filming the Tuesday PostSecret Event at the University of Virginia (sold-out). Other PostSecret Events this week will be held at University of Buffalo, SUNY and Vanderbilt University.

 | 09:11 pm - To punctuate or not, that is the question! I expected better from Gateway. This is the HDMI sticker on my new laptop. Since they are obviously not sure whether a certain word needs an apostrophe, was there a corporate decision to print it both ways and let the reader choose which version they prefer?

 | 03:14 am - been meaning to post this for a while. Local shop. I hang my head at the state of the education system of Scotland.

(sorry I don't know how to put pictures side by side) There isn't actually another apostrophe in Discounters but every time I walk past it, I check just in case they've 'corrected' their sign!

 | 01:24 am - I gave up reading. I'm not really trying to snark about someone whose English isn't very good but I cringed at this. Literally.
I don't wright in journals. Always thought that is was Gay! any way. I am no at a point in my life were i have no one to talk to, Writhing in a journal just sound right! Okay! So no i talk! Well, i don't fill sorry for my self, because i couse my battles! I just wish some times life was a Little easier! I have 3 kids and i am 25 years old, I have gained about 150 pounds scents i have been married! I don't no what to say... I like to eat, food is good! I am not saying that i am just going to sit here and not change any thing. I have taken steps to change. I have seen my Doctor ant taken support group class on nutrition! I JUST DON'T MAKE THE CARNAGE! But like i Sade I DON'T FELL SORRY FOR MY SELF, I CHOSE MY OWN BATTLES!
The girl obviously has problems but it's actually just reminded me (again) that in this day and age of information technology, you have to be able to read and write and if you can't you're out of the loop really but like she "sade, don't fell sorry for her."

 | 06:03 pm - x posted to dog_lovers. Hi everyone! I am new here. I joined today because my new rescue Dobie is coming home today! I have wanted a Doberman since I could remember... I could never get a bigger dog because I lived with my parents or an apartment where larger dogs are not allowed. I finally have my own home, and I found the perfect Dobie at the perfect time! Here's my story :)
Three days ago, my boyfriend and I went to the local animal shelter, like we do every week. We weren't exactly looking for another dog, we already have a wonderful 4 yr old Chihuahua (we just like to visit.) At the shelter, we saw a beautiful Doberman.
We went home and were talking to our room-mate about the dogs we saw, and we mentioned the Doberman. He got really excited and was talking about how he has wanted a Doberman since he was little, like me. We all got to talking and slept on the idea of having a new (very big) addition to our home. We woke up, talked more, drove to the shelter and adopted our new baby yesterday!
He's so beautiful! He's about 2 years old, very muscular, and the sweetest thing in the world. I feel kind of sad because he was turned in with his pal, a yorkie, and we are splitting them up. I would love to adopt them both, but there's just no way we can have 3 dogs. His adoption fee ($45, can you believe it? so cheap) covers his neutering and microchipping. He got chipped and neutered lastnight and we are picking him up when I get off work today. I'm very familiar with Doberman tempermant, energy levels, etc. I've done a LOT of reading and research. If anyone can give me some tips on the first few days in his new home, that would be great.
I'm a little bit nervous because getting neutered and put in a brand new home is going to be so stressful on him. I just don't want him to be afraid!

( Those poor apostrophes. )

 | 05:35 pm - Ultra short-term memory at its best After reading some of the posts here, I just thought of an incident that, although it happened a few years back, still manages to get giggles out of me and people I tell it to.
At our local pub*, there used to be an infamously forgetful serving guy. No matter if you'd be in there virtually every day and always had the same drink, he'd take your order and NEVER fail to come back within a few minutes to ask what you had again. Why he didn't write the orders down is beyond me when his memory was as non-existent as it was.
But that one time he really topped himself. Several friends of mine and myself, about 7 or 8 people in total, had been sitting around one of the biggest tables and as our party was breaking up, we had all just paid our tabs with Forgetful Guy. So some of us had already gone outside, some had disappeared to the restrooms, and my BF and I were still sitting at the table, finishing our last sips and talking.
Imagine our faces when Forgetful Guy comes beaming up to us and says, "Hi there, and good evening. Now what can I get you today?" He was a bit baffled when we told him nothing, as we had only paid our bill with him a mere two minutes before...
---------------------- *not a UK (self-service) pub - you are served at your tables there. And it's not that big an establishment; if it's really really packed, you may have about 120 people in there.
