Just found out some news that made me cream my pants...
"First off, the presentation started with a Q&A with Peter Jackson who was filming a DVD bonus feature for some unknown film (it apparently wasn't King Kong). He indicated that he had hours and hours of behind the scenes footage from his older films like Meet the Feebles and Bad Taste. He indicated he wanted to do something with it in the next year, but he had to arrange time to do it."
Fucking A!!! The only reason I haven't upgraded my Peter Jackson back catalogue from VHS to DVD yet is that they're all (barring LOTR, obviously) really cheapy, no-frills, Tesco Value type of releases. So *fingers very tightly crossed* for some Special Edition releases for all of them worthy of the films themselves. :o) I'm also hoping that Forgotten Silver will make it to these shores in some form or another...
In the same article as the above was this bit: "He also stated that he and New Line would like to do a "Super Uber Lord of the Rings" DVD box set. It's not official, but they all want to do it. Jackson wants to do it showing the making of the film from a different perspective."
Much as I love those films, I'm really not sure we need any more extras for them. If 12 discs does not a "super uber box set" make, then what the hell does?!?
In other news, Clerks X has finally been released on Region 2. I've not checked, but at first glance it appears to be identical to the Region 1 release, so I'll probably pick that up at some point.
I also read somewhere that Steven Spielberg and Drew Barrymore are "in talks" (whatever that means...) about making a sequel to E.T. Hmmmm... Not sure about that. Oh, and a 3D CG movie version of The Smurfs is apparently in development.
excited

Hurrah!
Maybe they'll put the full version of Bad Taste with the 'making of' documentary, that would rule.Forgotten Silver is wonderful too... I was well chuffed when Beeb 2 showed that a couple of years ago... hmm, I think I may have some DVDs to buy soon :o)

Re: Hurrah!
BBC2 showed Forgotten Silver?! Bollocks! How did I miss that?! I've wanted to see that for about 6 years.July 22 2005, 16:30:55 UTC 6 years ago
Re: Hurrah!
Oops... sorry.I guess you didn't see the full version of Bad Taste and the Making Of Bad Taste documentary either... they were on the same night :o/
Still, if it's any consolation I hear Tony from Terrorvision has a new band called Laika Dog, OK so it's not Terrorvision... but y'know... it's something.

Re: Hurrah!
Yeah I saw the documentary (Good Taste Made Bad Taste), in fact I've still got it on VHS somewhere. And I remember it being on with the film as part of a theme night on BBC2. I forget what the theme was exactly, it was probably one of those Taboo weekends or something. I didn't realise the version of Bad Taste shown on that night was any more uncut than the VHS release. And I also don't remember Forgotten Silver being shown, but I think that was before I'd heard about it. That was a lot more than a couple of years ago though cos I was still at school (probably getting on for about 10 years ago), so I dunno if that's the same night you were thinking of or if that was a completely different BBC2 theme night...As for Laika Dog, they've been in existance for a while. I actually went to their first ever gig (18th of Novemeber 2002). They were OK, but nothing special. I haven't really heard much of them since then though, until fairly recently when I heard they were about to release their debut album. I am curious to hear them again, now that they've had a chance to properly bond and develop.

Re: Hurrah!
OK... so don't be cheered up by Laika Dog ;o)Oh... and "a couple of years" was just in the vague sense... yeah, it was probably nearer five to ten.
Oh... and I think that Forgotten Silver was shown on the same night as a showing of Heavenly Creatures... hey I was close :o)
Oh... and I think I'll shut up now :D
