So the other day at work, I caught an Oriental Whip snake.



Q: Is it venomous?
A: Yes it is, but not enough venom to kill a man, just makes you a little drowsy. I should know, I got bitten before by a bigger one.


Q: HOLY SHIT! That looks like a mighty long snake! How big is it?
A: Its about 1.7m long.


Q: I see a bulge in the body, is that normal?
A: I have no idea what exactly the budlge is, but probably a lizard or a rat or whatever else the snake had for lunch...


Maybe this is why them call it a whip snake... Anyway, I brought it home one night to take photos & all, & then the next day I brought it back to the site & left it on my bag for most of the day where it sat, making sure nobody tried to steal anything from me. & then towards the end of the day I brought it to a tree & it stood a good metre from my hand to reach up to the branches & climbed out of view.

In other news, some idiot must've thrown a cigarrette into the rubbish chute or something because the whole damn rubbish chute beside the site caught fire, & smoke was coming out the windows of the flats all the way up the top floor. So I looked around & found a discarded styrofoam box, & started beating out the fire, & when it got small & when the styrofoam started catching fire, I stomped into the fuckin rubbish bin to smother the fire. 10 minutes later, the fire squad came down & had a look, & then they left. Idiots.

 

Anyway, HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYBODY!!!

It does look pretty dangerous with its triangular head & bright colours, but its fangs are at the back of its jaw, so they're not dangerous as they can't bite things that are bigger than them. The once I got bit was by a pregnant snake, therefore I guess slightly more hostile than usual, & it bit my hand as I was reaching into the tank to clean it up. & then it got stuck & couldn't release its bite, so I had to basically pluck its fangs out of my skin. Left me a little bit drowsy. Maybe if I got bit more, I could get high...

I can just imagine the snake as a long suffering trusty sidekick, as I hold on to its tail while its strangling itself on a branch, & I'm swinging from tree to tree...

The pictures don't do its real colour justice. Its like neon crayonish green with yellow stripes on the under belly. TOOO CUTE!!!

that snake is fucking AWESOME! damn. is it common to find them around the place?

i was glad it had a happier ending than the pigeon story :( but i wanted to see photos of it asleep on your belly.

Its not common like they're hanging around all over the place. Mostly in the vegetated areas or up in trees, away from people's view. They camoflage quite well, despite being neon green & yellow.

I was tempted to keep it, but seeing the luck I had with Zepp, I didn't wanna take chances. & now that you mention it, I should've taken a picture with the snake on my belly. I am the master of animals! (Maybe cuz I smell like one...)

you are to catch me a snake when i fly back because you love me.

and because, i wanted a pet terrapin and called up a few reptile places here and after ringing up the seventh one i got told terrapins werent allowed in western australia. just like dwarf hamsters. except they arent allowed in australia at all. and then i got angry and had a dream we had two standard greyhounds. and then i woke up angrier.

so, when i fly back, we will either get a terrapin or a dwarf hamster.
and you will get me a snake.

and i meese your skinnyidiothebody.
