Hey wow LJ makes it hard to actually post entries now

So like the little dropdown menu for 'journal' seems to dislike my mouse hovering over it since the menu goes away when my mouse leaves the menu heading. And I guess there's no other way to actually post an entry anymore? Weird.

Anyway I eventually got around that and the whole reason I even found this is that there is a Q&A "MEME" being started (I guess?) by snoozenstein and I guess I'd might as well be all like "hey!" since like. stuff.

Oh, sure, why not. I dunno. I had a lot of friends who were posting to LJ and I was following them via RSS, but of course I was missing out on their friends-only entries, and eventually I wanted to post a comment to an entry of king_duncan's so, there you go.

So, if you check my normal sites often, you may notice that they're all very slow or sometimes completely unresponsive. Unfortunately, the file server my account is on at Dreamhost is dying, and Dreamhost has "ordered new disks" which should be "installed within the next 10 days." This is very frustrating for me, of course. On the plus side, I guess it means I'll have to refrain from blogging for a wh...oh, wait.

(It also gives me an excuse to still not work on my comic, as if I needed one.)

The more problematic part of this is that my email is hosted on the same server, so I'm basically incommunicado outside of work and IM. (Fortunately those are the only places where my communication is really needed, although I have a feeling that my mom is about to call me all frantic about the fact I haven't replied to her most recent cat picture email or whatever.)

Both are delicious, although Chinese food tends to have MSG (although more places are prominently MSG-free now). I definitely have Mexican more often.

Most of them! Historically I've used LJ more for organizing get-togethers with RL friends.

Money can't buy me love, but love can't buy me money either.

Credit cards, definitely. The Amazon Visa gives you pretty awesome rewards - 1% on purchases (3% on Amazon purchases) rolls over into a gift certificate. So I end up getting a lot of Amazon gift certificates. It's especially handy when someone takes advantage of my employee discount at my company since generally those purchases are very large and so my friend saves money AND I get a reward for myself! Woo!

Yes.

Hotel. I'm not into camp.

This Thursday is my birthday. As such, we need to make this Saturday special. Since we don't have a current regular stop anymore, maybe we should entertain notions of something else to do?

I'm sort of considering throwing a party at my place but I don't really feel like preparing for one.

An alternate idea: Blue C Sushi (in U Village). It's not the best sushi in town or anything but it's (relatively) cheap and (objectively) fun.

Another easy thing: just order a bunch of pizza and watch movies at my place, and maybe play a bunch of Wii Sports and/or DDR. (Though for anything at my place I'd much much rather cook something, since I have this hang-up about not showing off my epicurean tendencies whenever possible.)

Any thoughts?

Sockpuppet: Live in Santa Cruz

Those of you in or near the San Francisco bay area might be interested to know that my band (Sockpuppet) will be performing as part of Song Fight Live this Saturday (the 19th) at the Cayuga Vault, at 1100 Soquel Ave in Santa Cruz, CA. My set will be around 8:30 though the show starts at 7:00 and you really should come for the whole thing (and better yet, come Friday night too if you can make it — there'll be a lot of killer bands that night). $5 gets you in to see 23 different bands' short sets! $5 for 8 hours of rock (and lots of folky and electronic music too). You can't beat that with a wet cardboard tube!
