tax appointment and traffic school in the same day. It's so unfair!

Also I got the cleaning bug this morning. Spent about 4 hours scrubbing my house from top to bottom, until I got to the point where it didn't seem to be getting any cleaner. Amazing how you can scrub your kitchen and scrub and scrub and scrub and then you turn around and there's somehow still jam all over the refrigerator door.

I used the oven's "self-clean" feature for the first time. I don't know what it does exactly. I haven't looked in there yet.

It's nice to shower in a squeaky-clean shower though. Being a body painter means my shower is usually streaked with blue and green and orange.. oh my.

Next I gotta do the garden. Maybe *that* will make it feel clean in here.

Oh and Thank you, Universe, for my Roomba.

With lots of help from Darrell and from teh internets and after spending $7 on a flash widget thingy.

Wow. The site looks so damn simple and has so few pages that it's really surprising how bloody difficult it was to get it together. It still doesn't look quite right in IE on Windows, sigh. Look at it in firefox or safari or something.

Have a look!

I'm going to update the images more soon, I know some of them don't belong in there and I have some others tha I need to track down that do belong there.. but YAY the site is up. :) About time, because I just got my body art business cards that reference it (embarrasing to hand out cards and say "oh don't look at the web site though")

Jamaica adventures

Aaah jamaica is lovely. I'm in a villa right on the beach, like, 10 steps and you're in the water. So far all the nature-y stuff has been faboo! All the citified stuff has been sorof icky. That's what I think of jamaica.

But the bestest thing so far: last night we went to Glistening Waters, which is a bioluminescent bay. There are only 4 of these in the whole world, and the one in Jamaica is the brightest, according to our awesome rasta boat captain Jerry. Ok, so I'm sitting here trying to find words to describe this experience and having all kindsa trouble. It was STUNNING.

We went in swimming. Darrell and I. Even though we didn't have our swimsuits, we went in our clothes because this was too amazing to miss. Night time in a boat, the only ones in the lagoon.. water is warm, moon is nearly full. Water is dark, mon, except that every time there's the tiniest splash, light blooms and ripples and glows bright, bright blue - blue like a glow stick, blue magic magic magic in the water. The slower you move, the brighter it glows. Toss a handful of water in the air and watch it splash and every splash lights up... they say when it rains the whole lake comes alive. We were submerged in it, drenched and swimming in it and every motion lights the water. Oh my god.

Mmmmmm.. had to share. Today is horseback riding, we'll get to swim the horses during the ride. Tomorrow is waterfalls and Tuesday is the 1.5 mile zip-line canopy ride. Aaah Jamaica.

See, now we can put a projector into our unused cabinet (the one above the fridge) and have it project through the little window and onto the living room wall so we can watch movies sans cords and noise and cables. yay!

Ok, it's more "elegant" than "crackpot" but when you see Dad scratching his beard and getting that crazy look in his eye, it's more fun to think "crackpot".

And on another note, I must have one of these. Oh my my. I emailed them and they want $2500 including shipping, which is a LOT of money for a railing. I guess I'm still open to other ideas. Hmm... does anyone out there know anyone who knows anything about making railings out of metal? (nudging phreddiva) Or any leads on someone who could make something in this style? I'm thinking about asking around at the crucible but I don't know who to talk to... I would love to support a local artist, and while $2500 is a bit steep, I am willing to drop a chunk of change on this. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Today I took a sledgehammer and knocked down one of my walls. Hooray for sledgehammers! Here's hoping the bed doesn't fall through the floor into the living room tonight. :)

Pictures later.

Also I got some paint and put it on my walls for test purposes. Both colors are "not quite right" so I'm glad I tested... I like the purple better than the green. Yay, purple!

Tonight we rented the Polar Express and Miracle on 34th Street in the original black&white. We watched Polar Express first while eating chocolate chip cookie dough, with rice krispies in, and then the holiday spirit (finally) hit. After the movie we ran out and got ourselves a lil' tree and decorated it while drinking buttershots, and then watched Miracle on 34th Street. Now I'm overflowing with good cheer and I DO believe in Santa Claus.

Polar Express was sortof fun. Creepy and weird with the computer-generated-people, but fun. The best part was that the North Pole looked *exactly* like Huis Ten Bosch (the japanese theme park where we spent last Christmas), with all the weird little factories and the clock tower and the train... all decked out with lights and christmas decorations and full of Santa Clauses. And even though Huis Ten Bosch didn't have elves exactly, our safeties Tatyama and Okajima and Morikawa - well, they're close enough for me. Tatyama was only 4 feet tall. :) We even spotted our stage! Shaped just about the same. And at the end of our show we all got to do this grand gesture, led by Santa, where we sortof waved at the big christmas tree in the square (da da dumm DUMMMM!) and the whole thing lit up. That HAPPENED in the movie. Whoa.

And Miracle on 34th street is awesome. If you haven't seen it, well, it's time. Darrell had never seen it and it'd been a while for me, and I'd forgotten how funny it is. Yay, christmas! Yay, solstice! Yay, trees and lights and presents and holiday spirit. :) :)

Hey kids, can you do me a favor? Can you look at this link and click on the "Island Luau" video and then the "Belly Dance" video?

Then let me know if one or the other works/doesn't work. (What's supposed to happen is a cool little red window should open up and the video should play in the window without any clicking necessary). If that doesn't happen can you let me know what *does* happen?

And also please let me know what browser you're using and what platform.

Thanks so much!! Y'all rule!
