So a few days ago, my dad's friend Tim Delaney came to visit him.
I seriously love this guy. He's so cool.
I forget where he lives now, but it's far away, so I see him MAYBE once or twice a year. He's blind in his left eye.
Tim's an artist.
I'm not exactly sure what his current job description is, but he used to work for a design company that Kellogg employed...his job was designing the backs of cereal boxes. How cool is that?
But yeah, he knows I'm into art, so he always asks me what I've been up to in that area. I was telling him about how I've started dabbling in digital media, and we started talking about pentablets and Corel and Flash and Photoshop, and it was cool.
And guess what?
He even brought me a book!
He bought a copy for himself, and then thought of me, so got me one too. It's amazing. I love this guy.
It's called "Caffeine for the Creative Mind: 250 exercises to wake up your brain." It's like brain teasers and quick, fun little exercizes to give you a creative jolt...you solve them by drawing ususally.
For example, I opened up to a random page:
"Is That a Tailpipe, Or Are You Just Happy To See Me?
It's a story we've heard a thousand times. An SUV walks into a party, has a little too much to drink, hooks up with an antelope, and fathers offspring. That old chestnut. It's high time you put your own spin on this age old cautionary tale. Your task today is to choose a vehicle and an animal. These two love birds hook up and produce offspring. What would that offspring look like? What features would it take from its individual parents? He has his mother's headlights, we know."
I adore it.
