last night i had 250ml of white wine, two vodka cranberries, and one spencer krug (figuratively speaking, of course). he sang a new song about silver moons, and my heart imploded.
there was also one about being late & going blind.
i did not bring my camera but i brought my eyes & ears.
tonight i will try to finish setting up my paris photos.

Virgin Pad Thai please. I asked for this: pad thai - just the noodles, the sauce and the egg.
No garnishes (ie no coriander, peanuts, soy sprouts), no chicken, no shrimps.
I get the thing sprinkled with peanuts and soy sprouts. Both I'm allergic to. ugh. |

Translating Question I was on my last.fm and someone left me this comment in my shoutbox: こんにちは、日本すきなんですね。何処が良いと思いますか? I can figure out some of it. Hello. You like Japan, huh? What places do you think are good?Does that make sense? Is that right? Ah, sorry for my lame translating problems! Current Mood: blahCurrent Music: Tokio Hotel |

happy thoughts I am inspired by mecha_grrl's positive bubbles and so i'm making me a little list... one happy thought goes to boys who aren't afraid to look less manly by shaving everywhere... including armpits! one happy thought for stores that were open on Canadian Thanksgiving. Two pairs of shoes found a home at my place! one happy thought goes to Clint who despite himself inspired me to do my second grand-scale installation. My life story can be told through my shoes! one happy thought goes to my new found friend Cecile who will cook me a Korean dinner tonight at her place. one happy thought goes to my horse whose name remains a mystery to me, who didn't throw me off his back, yesterday. one happy thought goes to me and my ability to change things. one happy thought for trust. And calmness. one happy thought for my tourist who is never home and never eats here. It's like living with a ghost who pays the rent. And last, one happy thought for my two sangria/sushi buddies that i'll be seeing tomorrow. Current Mood: calm |

Portes: 20h. Kanji-related question In my first foray into translating some manga that I have for practice I've run into a couple things that baffled me. This first is in this line:
俺にわ泣いて笑って前を向いて行けと云うのかよ
Now from the context (and some searching online kanji dictionaries) I would assume that the kanji used (云う) has the same meaning as 言う, except with a much less commonly used kanji.
I found the same thing again later in this line:
俺はお前混みで全てを護ってやるぜ?
I assumed it was supposed to be the same thing as 守って (which seemed to be confirmed by my Japanese typing program :P), but why use the obscure kanji there? Does this happen often, and where? What's it supposed to convey if it means the same thing?
What's more, those kanji aren't used all throughout the comic but only once each (the regular kanji appear elsewhere). Is it some kind of particular emphasis? |

Off the wall question, but here goes Does anybody know a proper way of translating Korean into Japanese?
I want to tell my host mother that I'm doing well in my Korean class, and I want to say "An nyong ha se yo!" (basic "Hello!") to her. I don't know if she can read Hangul, so I want to translate it into Japanese.
Would it be something like "アン・ニョング・ハ・セ・ヨ"?
Could anyone point me to any sites, in English or Japanese, that could explain/translate? |

Qualifying Nouns We just learned about qualifying nouns and I do not understand them at all. I think the book explains it poorly (we're using Genki II) and I am having a really hard time understanding it... Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

Help on translating to English..? R&B,
I only have a rough idea what it says.
'Starting the music (production) at the birthplace of R&B, hiphop genres (implying America), the language barrier has decreased (?). The advancement of work was quickly done.
The Asian market/industry.. something about the barrier did not exist in the first place?'
@_@ Any help is appreciated. Thank you~ |

Only 30 Copies Left Tom Canty has delivered the covers and interior cover plates for the Subterranean Press signed limited edition of A FEAST FOR CROWS, Bill Schafer has informed me. With all the artwork finally in hand, the book is headed for the printers. Bill also tells me that he has only thirty copies left unreserved for this gorgeous, high-quality edition, so if you're interested in picking one up, this is the time to act. Purchasers will also acquire the rights to buy the same number of Subterranean's limited edition of A DANCE WITH DRAGONS, somewhere down the road. Mark Fishman will be illustrating that one. The Subterranean edition will be a two-volume set in slipcase, with a limitation of 448 numbered copies and 52 lettered copies. All of the copies are autographed by both the author and the artist; the lettered edition will also include remarques by Tom Canty... but those, alas, are long sold out. The book will include: roughly 70 black and white interior illustrations, including chapter heads and tails, full page illustrations, and black and white vignettes, some full-color interior illustrations, stamped artwork on the slipcases (one color on the numbered edition, two colors for the lettered edition). Bill also mentioned that he's uncovered a box of the illustrated limited edition of FEVRE DREAM during a recent move, so that book -- previously thought to be sold out -- is now available again. Justin Sweet did the artwork for that one, and it's stunning. To order FEAST or FEVRE DREAM or any of the other lovely books from Subterranean, visit their website at http://www.subterraneanpress.com/ Current Mood: pleased |

I need help with a few sentences! I can't figure out how to translate them...if anyone can help that'd be awesome.
1. I think Mamoru will like the band 'Kururi'. 2. If I go back to Japan, I want to buy more souvenirs!
I'm not sure how to put 'I think someone else' in a sentence. Also 'if i go back' might be hard to translate as well?

Shortlist anouncement for Comic Creation Nation And Then There Were Three..., er, FourHarold Greenberg Finalists AnnouncedSince Labor Day, 15 writers from the Zeros 2 Heroes community have been vying for a $15,000 screenwriting grant to start turning their comics into feature films. This is money enough to move out of your parents’ basement, quit that coffee-shop job, move to the big city and really live that crazy dream of being a professional writer. Two words: Beyond. Awesome. Originally, our plan was to provide three finalists to the Harold Greenberg committee but the race was just too close. So we opted to go for four and give one more writer a shot at the big time. After some ups, some downs and lots of hustling, the finalists have been selected by you, the heroes of our community. They are, in no particular order: - Jason Cook, Blake Undying
- Dylan Edwards, Hero High
- Jennica Harper, Abigail’s War
- Christian Major, Deutschmachine
(Ok, that was alphabetical order. Whatever.) If you haven’t checked their books out, now is the time. The ultimate winner will be announced on Friday, October 17th through the Zeros 2 Heroes website. Come back and see who gets their break. After all, the next time it could be you. What an amazing process... I was very encouraged to read so many exceptional stories from writers with such a diverse range of experiences. The final decision will be a tough one, but we hope all the participants are as pleased as we are with their efforts to date.
- John Galway, President The Harold Greenberg Fund OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOh Myyyyyyyyy GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWDS!!!!!! WE DID IT!!!Ecstatic and forever thankful, - Christian P.S.: OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMG OMG!!!!!! *bounce* *toasts* *drinks* |
