I love how Republicans are overjoyed at Obama choosing Biden, and say it dooms his candidacy, and likewise Democrats are overjoyed at McCain choosing Palin, and say it dooms his candidacy. Personally, I think they're both wrong, and the VP picks will have absolutely no effect on whether people pick Obama or McCain. No one is saying either "I like Obama and his change message, but I'm not voting for him because Biden is the opposite of change" or "I like McCain and his experience, but I'm not voting for him because his VP is inexperienced." *edited to add* Continuing with Devil's Advocate, (and keep in mind I'm an enthusiastic supporter of Obama's), one could argue that she's no less experienced than Obama, and even has more RELEVENT experience than he does, in that as a mayor and then a Governor she's been an Executive while he's only been a Legislator. So the reason to "oppose" her is her policies/politics, not her experience, or lack of it. *edited to add again* And as if to prove my point, Poul's post about how he thinks Palin is a great choice: http://liberpolly.livejournal.com/847841.htmlNow my point is not that he's right or wrong, God knows I disagree with him all the time, but it shows that those of us on the Left make a big mistake in thinking those on the Right, or even those "in the middle", are going to see her, and focus on the same aspects of her, as "we" do.
