From his youth, he was provided with an education expected of his high rank and did well in his lessons. He learnt the lance at a more than adequate level and skill. He socialised with his southern peers and made connections that would serve his family well for the years ahead. He married a witty and beautiful woman and had children of his own. He turned thirty and, expecting to inherit soon, life was looking good. His father did not die. As a matter of fact, his father in this fifties was much as lively as he was in his thirties. Disappointed but determined for it not to get him down, Stephan took his studies on agriculture further. He became a commander of the southern army. He arranged influential marriages for his children. He took on greater responsibilities in his role of heir and future ruler and passed tests under the scrutinizing eyes of his superiors with flying colours. By the time his fiftieth birthday passed, he was, to many, ruler of Rhia in all but name (though ever mentioning it in his father's hearing was likely to earn the poor victim a long stern lecture on manners and good grace and how in his day...). His family waited. His father did not die. Now at sixty, Stephan still continues his duties as heir and eventual ruler, though his skills with the lance had gone in a sharp decline as his body aged. His father is eighty-eight, still spritely and very fondly and somewhat obnoxiously points out that he is much healthier than Stephan himself and will probably outlive him. His own son is more likely to inherit than he ever will. And not a day goes by when Stephan doesn't rue that his life would be perfect if his father just kicked the bucket and die already. PERSONALITY Stephan, as the Dentorian master of trade and agriculture and heir to the great southern house Rhia, seems to be an genial man immensely competent in his duties. Of course, he has had years and years and years of practice at it. He is also a once ambitious but now an immensely bitter and unhappy man who hasn't quite recovered from the many disappointments and setbacks life (and his father) have dealt him. Namely, that at the age of sixty and growing older by the minute, he is still heir to his father's seat and is quite convinced that this fact has made him a laughing stock to the whole country. Which it, well, has, but he'd prefer not to know it. Stephan is very concerned with his age and worries constanly about the changes old age brings. With his body failing in his approaching old age, he is desperate to keep his mind sharp. He reads often despite his eyes growing weaker and tests his memory every week, though this is also starting to decline. He is probably one of few who remembers the name of every member of his montrously large family and their relationship to him as well as the members belonging to the houses under Rhia. He has a great loyalty to his family, though he isn't the model of fatherhood himself and spoils his grandchildren rotten. Despite everything, Stephan does actually like his father... just that Stephan wishes his father wouldn't point out that he is still very much alive in Stephan's face every other hour. APPEARANCE Stephan is of average height (though starting to grow shorter), with greying hair and sharp dark eyes. His wrinkled skin has darkened slightly from the hours training under the sun in his youth. He walks with a slight stoop and carries reading glasses with him wherever he goes.
