.we're down in in the basement in the dark, after we crash your car .hoping fast that my arrow hits the mark .so you know who we are
so! apparently it's not a joke & they're not changing it back. brand new is honestly calling the new album "Daisy".
they confirmed it to someone after another show. the person who runs ap.net swears to it. aaand, from their official website:
--
July 09, 2009 Brand New's new album is called 'Daisy' and will be released on September 22nd, 2009. Stay tuned for more info. April 17, 2009 Hello. We have started the mixing process with Dave Sardy. Please adjust your schedule accordingly, as we are hoping for a summer release. Thank you for your time and patience. We will see you soon. .brandnew.

it's making me so sad - isn't that just a horrible title? for any band? i mean, what are people who've never heard of them going to think when they see that title? also - jesse's said the album's heavier than TDAGARIM (what?), so "daisy" def does not fit. not that it'd fit in the first place. i guess it's irony at its finest.
i still think it's funny as hell.
& yes, this did warrant three entire entries about it. jesse (& here remy slams into the front of my brain, ouch) - you're brilliant & i love you & you can do no wrong & WHAT THE HELL HAVE YOU DONE. three wonderful titles (which just happens to include the title i still love most out of everything i've heard of) & now ... this.
huh, i think people are going to be furious. by then, i think i'll be laughing like a maniac & getting that gut-wrenching shiver that feels like someone's running their nails across the inside of your skin. like i am right now. *headwall* ... i hope there's some link to the lyrics or something that can justify this & make it not so totally idiotic.
zomg, i love what they did. yeah, i'm rather contradictory & erratic in this. i can't help it.
i know it's sad that i'm this worked up about it. but i am. i didn't fully believe it before this. awk. three years, & *FLAIL* ... augh, i am sure you do not care about this at all, hahaha. i'm sorry. i'll stop.
oh, before i do - apparently vin wrote half the lyrics this time? i'll def wait to pass judgement, but that breaks my heart. :'(
*runs off doing the crazed-laugh thing again*

So I've pushed back working on DEATH'S DEAL a day because . . . I can't contain my fantasy desires another day!!! I'm working on my story LAND OF THE MAD all day today! I'm on the second chapter now. =3 Maybe I'll get to chapter four at the end of today. XD That would be lovely.
Also, I've decided on the 'mood' I wanted as I wrote. And I decided a marathon of Fairy Tales was the only way to go! XD I started it soon after I woke up and couldn't get any words out for DEATH'S DEAL cause I wanted to write for my fairy tale too badly. So I organized the movies that I wanted to watch in a certain order, because I'm weird like that. And the order is . . .
1) Snow White 2) Cinderella 3) Sleeping Beauty 4) Beauty and the Beast 5) Little Mermaid 6) Anastasia
7) Alice in Wonderland
8) Corpse Bride 9) Sleepy Hollow
I'm ending the night with some Tim Burton. lol!
So far I've watched...
1) Snow White 2) Cinderella 3) Sleeping Beauty 4) Beauty and the Beast 5) Little Mermaid 6) Anastasia
7) Alice in Wonderland
8) Corpse Bride 9) Sleepy Hollow
I'M ON MY FAVORITE CLASSIC PRINCESS FAIRY TALE!!!! BEAUTY AND THE BEAST!!! Seriously, words cannot describe how much this movie inspires me! It's just, to me, the most creative and well developed princess fairy tale Disney ever made into a movie. X3 I especially love that Belle and the Beast dont' fall in love through singing to each other like the other three movies--you get tired of it after three movies of watching it lol. But yes, there are no words to describe how much I love the movie. Even the music from Beauty and the Beast is enough to inspire me. I wish I could find the music in the beginning so I could download it, but they only have the music with the words and that just kills it when listening to it on my iPod. TT_TT Oh well, I shall just replay the beginning 50 times until I get sick of the music. lol!
I'm also reading bits and pieces of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland between movies.
Well, that's all for now lovelies, I'm off to write, write, write, and write! XD

| I am a failure |
[11 Jul 2009|01:25pm] |

So I went to take my permit for the 2nd time and failed it. It's always that I miss 7. I knew my dad was going to be stressed and I was right. He calls me stupid and should be embarrassed for not thinking common sense. But I'm just a horrid test taker. It'll never stop. I'm not stressed about it because I knew I was going fail it. I just wish it'll stop so I can drive. I'll just try again and study no big deal, maybe I can even request the paper form. It's just that you see people younger than me and gotten their permit on the 1st try it makes me stupid. Again I'm a horrible test taker- I could probably do the driving but with tests.... I'll struggle. When I was taking it I already miss 3 so quick and I suddenly my heart was pumping. I was getting pressure when I lost my train of thought when I missed 5. As that happens I panic and pressed the wrong answer which made me missed 7. Computer tests are stupid. Well I'm going to study some more and try again. And it's not just the permit test- it's the Sats, Math tests, and other tests. I fail them. (well not all of them but majority). I believe it's a disorder. *sad*
This is why I'm an artist and a simple minded person. (and a failure) :(

Has anyone read this yet? I'm on page 125 and I feel slightly bummed about how uninteresting it is. LC's writing style isn't in any way unique and her characters are pretty boring. I really liked the concept and I thought it'd be cool to read something she's written but I feel so disappointed with it now.
Any thoughts?

War for the Oaks by Emma Bull
Where to Buy | amazon, barnes and noble, borders
Premise | Eddi McCandry sings rock and roll. But her boyfriend just dumped her, her band just broke up, and life could hardly be worse. Then, walking home through downtown Minneapolis on a dark night, she finds herself drafted into an invisible war between the faerie folk. Now, more than her own survival is at risk--and her own preferences, musical and personal, are very much beside the point.
By turns tough and lyrical, fabulous and down-to-eath, War for the Oaks is a fantasy novel that's as much about this world as about the other one. It's about real love and loyalty, about real music and musicians, about false glamor and true art. It will change the way you hear and see your own daily life.
Review | This book was described as the foundation for urban fantasy-ish, so I just had to read it. Right off the bat I could tell where Holly Black got her inspiration from for her Tithe series as it was glaringly obvious (even if I had only read the first few pages of that book). Let me tell you, after reading poor novels from this genre I didn't have high expectations for it. Well, this book completely blew the others out of the water and has definitely set the mark for others to meet.
The world she created was refreshingly simple, but yet complex. Her prose is fantastic, lyrical with unique descriptions that didn't fall into the trap of being cliche or trite. I couldn't connect much with the singer in a band bit because I've never had that experience but I can totally appreciate people who do this. Not to mention, I rather liked the lyrics she made for this novel. The way she wrote the main character, Eddi's, passion for singing was marvelous and it made me feel caught up in a magical world. I absolutely loved how the romance in this book was slow and built up so it was natural for the characters to fall in love, not like this "we meet" and then "OMG I LOVE YOU!!!" crap in young adult-urban fantasy I see now. The other supporting characters were clearly defined and not just filler to enhance the main character's story arcs.
If there's something I could nitpick it's probably the fact that the pacing slowed down quite a bit before the final climax. I'm sure it was the "calm before the storm" type of deal but I dunno, I just couldn't get into that part. Also, I may be wrong and my memory could be shot to hell, but I thought Eddi was the one who dumped her ex-boyfriend and not the other way around? Anywho, the ending to this was fantastic. She manages to give her readers a thoroughly satisfying conclusion without making it overly sappy, sweet, or riddled with barf-worthy cliches. (Yes, I'm talking about you, Harry Potter! I still love you though).

Today was a brilliant, phenomenal, hap-dashery day - NOT that I went to a men's wearhouse clothes shop, which is what haberdashery means :) So pulchritudinous, flam-whimsical, winn-erific, stup-enditious, seren-monious. I'm making up words like those two brothers...Nat and Mat - from Cinderellis and the Glass Hill, I thoink :)
Spell-checker won't be happy, I'd care less -
SUCH A BRILL-BUOYANT DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The morning was horrible, b/c it's summer and I stayed home (LAST day of staying home though, cheers and vodka, not that I drink it but - ) and watched the last two scenes, 7, 8 from a Korean movie that was translated to Chinese, therefore rendering me articulate to understand it. My fav line was : Oh, you death-deserving wench! -except it was in Chinese, and I kept saying that playing ping-pong with my father :)
Anyway, it was a horrible morning until 2, when my mom came and made it slightly less horrific. I was so miserable missing Abu...Abu. I miss her so, so, so much...I can remember her crying after me in the airport, and I won't forget it, always. She was standing on the right...
I cried a lot, and usually when I cry by myself - sort of rare compared to the times I cry from family issues, well, I don't know - it's a hard crying jag, and today was that.
Afterwards?
Appointment with contacts, of course. Ha. Oh, the irony. But still! I received contacts! They're magical, them. They are so MAGICAL. I'm prettier w/o my glasses, though they are so safe-havenish. I feel naked w/o them...though not as nearly as nearsighted - oh and -
TALENT SHOW! I was in 9-12 group as opposed to elementary-middle group and they pick TWO people and ONE alternate from each group and there were TWO PEOPLE IN THE HIGH SCHOOL GROUP SO WHAT THE HECK, I WON.
Angel, by Sarah McLachlan I sang :) Next time, to the finals!
-So yeah. A piece of my life that's started out horrifically and ended on a good note...*yaWn*
Sweet DREAMs...my novel? Oh, and 28,500-ish words. Am reading the Breakout Novel by Donald Maass and there are things I never even considered much less heard before, like stakes or whatever. I know. I'm sad, considering I'm a person who wrote an upwards of 300,000 words in my short, 14-yr-old life - and -
BRACES OFF IN 4-5 WEEKS! AUGUST 13! (my b-day is 30, one day from skool) - and it's fantastical, oh I can't WAIT <3 SQUEAL.
ps. You'll hardly ever, chances are, see me in this mood again soon. Sigh. I'm just that sort of person...more pess. than opt.

| The Joys of Being Bored |
[10 Jul 2009|02:50pm] |

Originally published at antipatica.org. Please leave any comments there. My mother just came in my room complaining about how hot it is in my room. Uh, okay. What do you want me to do? Call upon the power of the wind to give my room some ventilation? Sure, I would if I could. I don’t see the validity of her complaint since it is my room and she doesn’t have to be in my room. Anyways, weird mothers aside… nothing has been going on in my life.
I feel like I should’ve at least built up suspense or something before letting the bomb drop. Ah wells. Maybe I’ll make a list of things I’ve been doing lately:
- I’ve been playing Typing Maniac, I cannot beat my top score of 316,000 +. I think I was talking to my friend on Skype while playing so I didn’t notice I even reached that score.
- I’ve been Skype-ing for HOURS with a friend. We managed to reach eight hours on Skype. You must think that we’ve been having some deep conversations about life and whatever. Nope, not really. In fact, there are times when we don’t talk and just do what we do. I believe I was making weird sounds for a couple of minutes because I was bored. Mmhm.
- I’ve been working. Since the restaurant I work at is going to be in the 2010 Olympic area of downtown Vancouver, my manager has been on a hiring spree. Since she’s on a hiring spree, that means I’m on a training spree. As much as I love training, watching the same videos twice in a day can get on someone’s nerves.
- My Yu Yu Hakusho download has finished! Well it finished a week ago and I am taking my time watching the show. I love the animes of the 90’s. They are epic in proportions. This one has 112 episodes!
Well this chain of boredom is going to be broken for two weeks since I’m going to Victoria tomorrow and then going to Calgary for the next week. I am not that ecstatic about my Calgary trip as I have to sit on a bus for a total of 30 hours (ONE WHOLE DAY PLUS SOME HOURS OMFG.) for the trip there and back home. I still don’t get why it costs more to fly to the province next to BC that flying to Vegas. Weird.
So for you people on summer vacation, are you bored out of your wits as well? Or maybe you’re doing something totally productive and you laugh at my pitiful existence?
