I asked what your views are on abortion so let's hit another topic: Adoption.
Are you for it? against it? Why?

What are your views and thoughts on abortion?
How do you feel about it politically?
How do you feel about it for you personally?
What about in the case of rape/incest?
What about the case of a damaged fetus?
I've never asked this here before and I'm just curious. Feel free to answer any portion of this issue you feel I have left out.

| Stinky No More |
Sunday 13th Apr, 2008 | 8:05 am |
I am posting more entries publically and I am most comfortable posting about Kylie right now. I'm sure I will post about more things in the future but now, it's going to be a lot of Kylie info.
So Kylie is a purebred Mini Australian Shepherd and they are STINKY. She may only be 12 lbs but she can stink up the entire apartment.
I tried Spot Shot for accident and it was gag-worthy. The product stunk worse than the urine. Then my apartment smelled awful. So I've decided to see what I can use to reduce the inevitable stink.
The first thing I tackled was the dog herself. When I went and picked her up 4 weeks ago she had NEVER been bathed or brushed so I had her groomed and shaved. She eliminated a lot of the initial odor. Then I bathed her twice a week with baby wash, which really didn't help a lot. I found some deodorizing wash at petsmart and washed her with that and it was a huge improvement. Now- no more doggy smell if she's washed weekly.
Now to tackle the carpet because she does have some accidents and she walks on them (the carpets, not the accidents.) I found Arm and Hammer pet fresh baking soda that one sprinkles on the carpet and vacuums it up. EVERYONE should use baking soda on their carpets! It eliminated the stink from the spot shot instantly and it was only $2.
For accidents I asked a petsmart employee what they would recommend because I did NOT want another issue like spot shot. They recommended Nature's Miracle. It's an enzyme based cleaner and it's awesome. It eliminated the spot shot stink as well as an accident smell. My apartment smells better now than when I moved in.
Last but not least, Febreeze! It now comes in vanilla and lavender! My favorite scent combo! It actually smells good too! I think all febreeze smells gross but this one is yummy!
Anyone have any other awesome tips to deal with pet (or kid!) smells?

| More Kylie |

Thanks so much for all your suggestions.
I think Kylie is the polar opposite of food aggressive, but food-scared? I don't know but after seeing that she was losing weight I have been monitoring her behavior around food. If anyone or anything is near her bowl she will NOT eat, including the cat. I think the cat has been the issue this whole time. Katana loves to drink out of Kylie's water bowl, which is next to the food bowl.
I put Katana in the bathroom for 40 minutes this morning after I put Kylie's food out and she ate TWICE the amount she usually eats in an entire day. She's also eaten this evening, which is awesome.
As a change of subject, Maddox was being wild and jumping and hit his knee on a tiny knob on the side of his bed. I have no idea how this was even possible but he had an instant bruise and he was screeching and begging for Tylenol "for the pain!" Poor thing, he HATES tylenol.
He's okay now but it hurt really bad! He has an ice pack on his knee but I think he'll be just fine.

| Update on Kylie |
Monday 7th Apr, 2008 | 9:16 pm |
I know there are some animal people here and I need your help.
Kylie is still underweight. She started out at 12.8 lbs, which is what you all saw in the picture. She was 12.3 the next day after a huge bowel movement, the vet said that was fine.
3 weeks later I weighed her again and she's 12.0. She's been on puppy food for sensitive stomachs (nutro.) I just added a pouch of chunky wet food to encourage her to eat more. It seemed to help since she ate more. I also put her on a high fat vitamin supplement. She hates it and cries when I give it to her gently.
I've stopped taking her on long walks because I don't want her to waste energy. We still do short 10 minute walks though.
What else can I do to encourage her to gain weight?
I have also been doing everything I can to cause her to bond to Maddox. She's only allowed to sleep with Maddox or alone. She, of course, prefers to sleep with someone. She can sleep on my bed if Maddox is in the bed and then only on the blanket Maddox is sleeping on. I have him to take her potty (while I'm holding his hand so he doesn't run away.)
She's still more bonded to me than she is to him and I don't see that changing anytime soon but I want her to bond with Maddox too. It's good for them. They are sleeping together on the couch right now. She needs a bath again! Stinky doggie!
