Crank Sturgeon everybody. I saw this guys live show last weekend and my god it was great.

I launched eBayDig.com yesterday and have already seen 133 unique visitors (3691 pageviews) with almost no advertising effort. So i'm excited about the possibilities. It's basically a search engine for ebay that generates common typos to take advantage of lazy sellers.

Check out Glitch VST. It's a VST effect designed specifically for glitching up your core. Or coring up your glitch. Whichever it is, it's a fucking cool plugin and I've been getting some nice sound out of it.

Today I did two remixes (well sorta, they're very similar) of the Kronos Quartet performance of Summer Overture from the Requiem For A Dream soundtrack.

I'm reasonably happy with them I suppose. Well, no, but it's time to move on.

The lyric above is from a track I'm working on called Rise of The Ancients. It's a bit of a change in style for me.

I was invited for an interview/tour at the New England Institute of Art , so I'm going to do that next week. Hopefully we're equally impressed with each other; it would be great to go to school for audio production as close to home as Boston.

Someday I'll get around to fixing my livejournal so it renders properly in IE...that bug must be annoying as hell (I think it worked years ago when my friend Cherish designed it, but I forget.)

had a busy weekend developing an ebay utility for a client. almost finished with it, but a couple things need tweaking.

bought a new pair of headphones from gemini. after listening to a track of mine on pro headphones, i decided maybe it isn't ready for release afterall.

trip was good. nyc was great. god damn i can't wait to get back there.

my birthday is on thursday :-D

playing around with music and shit tonight because i was bored. came up with this rather simplistic 26-second clip. used my zoom mrt-3 drum machine, an old vcr, a copy of The Point on vhs, and ardour on a linux box. had some other stuff to throw in but got tired, maybe i'll eventually extend it into a song. who cares.

distro: fedora core 3
graphics: nvidia
xorg version: 6.8.2
basic linux knowledge (editing config files, command line usage, etc)

append this to your /etc/X11/xorg.conf

Section "Extensions"
Option "Composite" "Enable"
EndSection

and add this line to the driver device section:

Option "RenderAccel" "true"

(ATI card users use this instead: Option "backingstore" "true")

restart X (ctrl+alt+backspace) to assimilate the new configuration

obtain and install xcompmgr (must be root)

wget http://freedesktop.org/xapps/release/xcompmgr-1.1.1.tar.gz && gzip -d ./xcompmgr-1.1.1.tar.gz && tar -xf ./xcompmgr-1.1.1.tar && cd ./xcompmgr-1.1.1 && ./configure && make && make install

obtain and install transset (must be root)

your windows should now have drop shadows.

now run this:

your curser will change to a cross and you may click the window to apply transparency on. neat, eh?

i was surprised to find that when i did this my computer did not take a noticable performance hit.

it's been a while. yeah, i still exist. though if existance is definied by perception, perhaps i exist less now than before. philosophical musings aside, here is the last nine (9) months in cronological bullets:

matt went away to rehab and i haven't seen him since. :'( he may not be back until next june.

i broke up with kayla, just because it wasn't working out for me.

sarah began talking to me again. she broke up with her boyfriend and apologized for everything. first we were friends again, then we were dating....absolutely in love with her, best time of my life. and the sex was good. i speak in past tense for a reason, see below.

i left school. yeah, i did. i guess i kind of knew that was coming all my life. still not sure if it was the right thing to do, but its done.

i quit my job. it was so aweful and the new hires i was training were making more than me without doing shit. nobody there worked as hard as i did. thankfully i learned that lesson about not working hard unless its your own company.

i got pulled over for speeding in concord. lost my license (still don't have it back) and had to pay several hundred dollars.

without school or a job or a ride, i had a lot of free time. so i started a software business which has been keeping me more than busy...and not too far from seeing some success. the .com crash only affected the incompetents.

this brings us up to about 2 weeks ago, when sarah decided she no longer wanted to be with me. can't really blame her. until now i had some strange inflated view of myself, and now that i'm back to reality i can see all the things i am that i should not be. i'm working on them. and yes, i miss her. nothing to be done about it.
