Gakuto hails from New York and is well adjusted to the ways of the city -- the prospect of muggings and beatings bother him just enough so that he carries a pocket knife.

He had always thought it was just his imagination playing wild tricks on him when he was young. When he focused intently upon someone and wondered what they were thinking. He thought it was just him making up what was going on in their minds.

And so it surprised him when those words had resonated within his mind, more lucid than any words he'd ever heard before -- spoken or otherwise. 'You're prying.' And immediately following this statement, to perhaps warn him off or punish him for such insolence, a barrage of images and conversations and thoughts flashed through Gakuto's head, assaulting his mind's eye.

Gakuto physically buckled under the weight of the mental onslaught, body and mind reeling, threatening to give up on the world for just a few moments out of time. Before his knees gave way, Ohtori moved to support him, the extent of his powers effectively concealed behind a genuine smile.

And in that moment Ohtori earned Gakuto's respect.

Under Ohtori's continued instruction Gakuto is refining his gift, perfecting his techniques. But it was a visit to Japan and one of the temples there where he discovered the power of banishing charms and learned how to bind this brand of magick to his tarot cards.

It wasn't until he became sexually active when he discovered his telekinetic capabilities -- when he found he could summon the lube to him.

Mukahi earns enough money to scrap by every week by performing cheap carnival tricks on street corners with his cards, and telling 'fortunes'. He rented a small apartment which was barely furnished -- his way of keeping expenses down so he can afford to lash out and pamper himself with lavish clothes and other accessories and oddities.

However Gakuto immersed himself in researching spells, neglecting bills until he was thrown out of his apartment. Begging his priest for his charity, Gakuto spent perhaps a total of three hours in his home before fleeing to Ohtori's place to escape the mayhem that seemed to follow Kamio, who was also sharing Shinji's home.
