So, tomorrow is my last day of freedom before I return to work. How sad.
Karolin, her mom, and I watched 'March of the Penguins' today. That was very good and made me exceedingly glad to not be a penguin. Then K. and I watched the last several disks of 'Utena,' which Kim had us borrow. Very odd series, but I must admit to liking the ending.
Almost everyone on my friends list posted their thoughts seven to ten hours after it hit the shelves. Sadly, I couldn't just sit and read it, so I've been sacrificing a little bit of sleep at a time.
I don't think anyone mentioned what really bothered me. Dumbledore said that no one stayed in the Defense of the Dark Arts position for more than a year after he refused to give Voldemort the job, which must have been around eighteen years ago. And people were just getting the funny idea the position was cursed in Harry's third year? Maybe I missed something.
I hope people are right about Snape. I'm not getting my hopes up too high, but maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised.
I really liked that Dumbledore died, but not that it was pointlessly. I'm sure that R.A.B. will be a great resource in the next book, so the death won't be utterly pointless. And I was very pleased at the identity of the Half-Blood P. I was very afraid it was Voldemort wreaking havoc through a book again. If I had put more thought into it, I should have figured it out.
And now I have only an hour and a half to sleep before taking Bryce to work. Should I even go to bed?

Also, before the book came out, everyone was saying that there was deffinitly going to be more stuff about Lily Potter, but the stuff that was mentioned was basicly the same stuff we already knew...So now I'm re-reading the book again to see if I missed something.
Rowling has kind of left herself open to making more than seven books. The cynic in me says that she's following the gravy train as far as it can go. But I do seriously have my doubts on how everything will be resolved in one book. But who knows? Only Rowling knows. (As long as Snape isn't really a bad guy. Please don't let that be.)
The whole Snape thing shocked me too! I was taking the Hermione perspective and telling myself "But Dumbuldore said he was good, so he HAS to be good!" I really hope it's true, and that what he did had a very good purpose.
A part of me wants to say that Snape has to be a good guy, that would be quite a twist for the next book. But Rowling does seem very bent on having Slytherins being villains (except Slughorn, who is the kind of ambitious that doesn't take risks).
