Friending Time/Friends Only [Mar. 26th, 2030|07:44 am]
[I feel... | rejuvenated]

Okay. I have put up many upon many FO banners and Friending posts, but this one I am going to try and keep as the final one.

Basically here is the rules of my way of friending-

[x] Common Interests -- Nobody gets in my little circle without liking some of the same shit that I do.
[x] Actual Posts -- I had a friend on here that merely only post pictures, I waited to see if they'd actually ever post... nope, so I booted them off. I don't care what you talk about, just don't post pictures and only pictures.
[x] Communication -- I lack in it, but I have been trying to open up more and I think I doing a good job at it, but I'd like to hear more from everyone else as well.
[x] No Harassment -- I went through this when I had a GreatestJournal account, a guy kept hounding me to see my boobs, it was tiresome, perverted, and very stalker-like. I felt violated... you can talk about my boobs as long as you're joking.
[x] Intelligent Convos -- Now, this one isn't necessarily a requiremnet, but it would be appreciated... I'd like to talk with someone that can hold an interesting conversation. It can be about anything as long as it can be done in a mature fashion at times.

Other than that, just add me and I check out your profile, if I don't add you back, you probably didn't have enough in common with me. ^^;

And to current friends, how do I kept this post at the top of my page? =D?

new layout, friends cut [Mar. 12th, 2008|02:53 pm]
[Tags|, , ]
[I feel... | nervous]

Lookie, my RoyEd layout is now in!

Other than that, I just now made a friends cut.
First off, I'd like to say any of those who I cut, if you wish to be back on my friends list, I'll add you back. But if you don't, defriend this journal please.

The reasons for anyone to be cut is either deadish journals or we just never connected.

I'm really sorry to anyone who gets upset or anything by this event. I just feel that a lot of people on my flist don't really care too much.

So if any of you can see this entry, but not friends-locked ones, you know what happened.

Trick or Treat? [Oct. 31st, 2007|10:03 pm]
1. Create a graphic (200 x 200 max size) to represent your personal "candy". It should have your username on it, but otherwise can feature whatever you want. Make it something special since it's self-representative.
2. Make a post with the subject "trick or treat?". Put your "candy" somewhere in it, and be sure to repost these instructions.
3. Then, go around other people's LJs and reply to them with either "trick" or "treat". If you reply with "trick", they will give you an LJ dare that you have to perform before taking their candy. If you're too wimpy for that, simply say "treat" and take their candy, lulz. ¦D
4. List all your collected candies in your original "trick or treat?" post to show off your collection, being sure not to direct-link!

TO THE ACEN FORUMS [May. 14th, 2007|07:36 am]
ACEN 2007
10th Year for Acen; 5th for me.

Anime Central. Just the name in itself had always caused me tons of joy. And as I write this now it always does and perhaps always will. I love this con. I love it so much that I am willing to staff. I love it so much that I was willing to pay $5 or even $25 dollars for badge replacement because I love the con, it means that much to me, despite on how unethically it was and is. I had expected ACen 10 to be very awesome... being my 5th year and the anniversary for the beloved con. But as I write this, which will be edited each day until the end of the con, it is a very bad experience which questions if I even want to go next year.

First off, Badge mess was awful. I stayed in line with my sister for a long time in an unorganized line to get into another. Hmm... right away I was not impressed with 07. I left as soon as my sister got into the “other” line. And she came back four hours later, even though hers was merely a replacement badge. Thursday night was the best part of the con as so far. I met forum members, which despite my shyness, I loved each and everyone of you! You guys were very awesome, but I can guarantee you didn't think so of me when you met me... I warned you all I was very shy in public and would probably skimp out on talk... but that's me.

Friday was a very crappy day. We stood in line for the Dealer's Room that wasn't even a line. That was ridiculous and the thing that disturbs me most of all, was IRT members were telling people yes this is the line... then three hours later, we realize that we could have walked right into the artist alley/dealer's room. W.T.F. I was pissed, no... beyond pissed. But after seeing all the goodies... I calmed down and became happy. And then personal issues came up and now I don't want to cosplay except for my Avatar meet up.... so those wanting to see any of my coplays, I must give you all my apologizes.... my mood for cosplaying had all vanished except for my duty as host of the Avatar meet up. Anime Hell was the only highlight of the convention.

Saturday... my Avatar meet up went well, but more personal issues have been dragging me down. Then, worst news ever, you have you have to get tickets for the masquerade... what? Okay, I'd get the idea of having to get them... but they didn't keep everyone informed about it. I heard they were merely passing them out at the Dealer's room, when they could have gave out a warning letter in our program book that said you had to have tickets! What the hell. Your Favorite Anime Sucks panel was the highlight of that night.

Okay, after this wretched weekend, I have a note for you all...

I more than likely will not go to Anime Central next year.

The way people were misled, once again, by the staff and IRT members was almost reflective of the past year or two with the Masquerade. That kind of things makes me wonder why I even attend the convention. Why do I bother going to a convention where people don't know what they are suppose to know and only give out false information? Do I really want to go to a con led by people like that? I felt hurt to know people misled others and that I had been misled as well.

Tickets for the Masquerade. The idea was effective for not getting over the limit of people in the room, but the problem here was that staff failed to let everyone know about the tickets and everyone have a chance at getting said tickets. Where was this information in the program book or even in the rule book? And if it was in opening ceremonies... don't you guys realize not everyone goes to that or they can't!? It's pretty pathetic.

If I go next year, I will probably take public transportation means to get up there. If I go next year, I will have my badge mailed to me, but I expect it to be to me in advance before con... not a day or two before. If I go next year, I will cosplay almost every day. If I go next year, I expect to be given proper information on happenings not a mere 'I don't know' or 'I think so'... get someone who does know. Instead of getting a group of 50+ lined up for nothing. That is ridiculous.

I want to staff, but I don't want to be apart of the people who misled me. I don't want to be the people who can't provide the attendee with information. I don't want to be a part of a group of people who charge other fans to get inside an event, watching other fans, no less. So, in short. 07 could have been so much better.... and though I love the con and all of you guys, I feel you guys just dumped all over me and other attendees.

I might see you all next year, more than likely not...

I also would like to note that you have all just lost a somewhat veteran of the convention... This was my fifth year and it was by far the worst year I have ever had at ACen, not all of it entirely your fault, but I guess this is mainly a good bye to all of you guys. All the new friends I made at ACen, I'm sorry... I can't take that out of this con, it's extremely depressing.

I also would like to state that I usually have thick hide with this convention, it's not I that turned my back.

LJ friends, sorry about the long post, this is going to be linked into my profile on AC forums... and don't worry, pictures will be posted Thursday morning, hopefully. =3

Time for the Scissors, my friends [Feb. 22nd, 2007|05:00 am]
I rarely to a friends cut, in fact, I kind of don't like doing them... cause whose to say that one day, that friend won't have something to say? Or I won't have something to say... or that I'll muster the courage and energy to say something without sounding stupid.

BUT here it is anyways

FRIENDS CUT
Comment if your love teh Cherry and wish to stay.

And I guess this will be a friending post as well, the only requirements I want in a friend is this-
[x] update your journal as often as possible.
[x] have something in common with me.

That is about it. Commenting isn't that big of a ho-ha to me. That's why I try to stick to fandom posts, that way it's easier for people to comment... cause some RL issues are hard to comment to. SO, commenting in my journal isn't a requirement, it's nice and if you comment on my entries, all comment on yours.

So, friend me or keep me.

sorry to edit this but, I just got home to my apartment... my fucking key was bent! And my dad who was luckily with me had to try and bend it back into shape, well we got it open, but the fucker won't even go back into the keyhole *now... so I need a new key and I'll have to use Bre's today. I only have one word to say right now-

For 2007... [Jan. 1st, 2007|01:00 pm]
Well... 2006 is over with... it doesn't seem like it should be.

Like I shouldn't be out of highschool, I should still be 18 going on 19, not 19 going on 20. I shouldn't be out on my own but living in my mother's home, I shouldn't be working at Applebees...
all of these feelings coil within me, but then I stop to think-
This year is going to be good, I can feel it.

I think all the events that happened in 2006 will only help me become a better person today. Getting my first and second tattoo, graduating from highschool, moving out, getting a job... all of these things... next I hope to start community college in the fall...

Normally I have such a pessimistic outlook on the future, why I am suddenly so bubbly and optimistic?

Well, I was watching Nana for the first time and I'll be starting episode 16 or 17 soon... and I can totally relate to Hachi. Not in the guy way, but her situation in life... being the middle child and moving out. Not only that, she is only a year older than me.

The way things go for them, it makes have faith that I will be able to make it a little longer on my own... I've already decided that sometime, I am going to take a taxi or something and go hang somewhere, try to make friends, you know?

Although I get a vibe that Nana will not be a happy series, It has giving me a weird sense of strength for my current situation in life that I had not expected it... so yay, can't wait to watch more. <3

So, in short,
Here's to the end of 2006 and the beginning of 2007.
All my Zutarian friends, let us hope that Zutara is in 2007 and that it rocks our world. =3

PS, this is a public post for friending purposes... so everyone and anyone who would like to admit, do it... but here are some things you need to know about me )

=3 I have to get my sister up soon and then I have to go to work *snort*

You're opinion please... [Oct. 30th, 2006|09:29 am]
[I feel... | curious]

Okay, I'm a big fan of DramaCon. It's a lovely series by Svetlana Chmakova, it's a great shoujo series and all but it brought something up that I am two sideded about.

Can Americans make Manga and Anime?

I spent some time last night thinking about it before I drifted off to dreamy lala land. And this is what I believe. First off, Svetlana uses a very good point, I will show you her point in script version-

Girl#1: This is so manga. Are your eyes on the wrong way?
James: No it isn't. Are you a retard?
Girl#1: You're the retard--This is totally manga!!
James: Aw, get a brain. It isn't.
Lida: Kids, kids, calm down.
Girl#1: Oh my god!! Atr rou Lida-san?? The manga artist?!
James: Aw, fer crying out loud... her stuff isn't manga either.
Lida:... So?
james: So don't call it manga!!
Lida: Hon, we can call it fried cheese if we want to-- last time I checked this was a free country.
Girl#1: You're such a loser, Jim. This is totally manga! Look, see? chibis!
James: It's not manga!!
Girl#1: Why not?!
James: Because she's not Japanese!! Manga is a Japanese atform!
Lida: So if a non Japanese person draws it, it's not manga?
James:Exactly! Get it now??
Lida: Appyling this logic to something else we all know and love... A pizza is not a pizza unless its baked by an Italian in Italy. Yes?

Okay, with that... I am still two sided on the subject. I agree with Svetlana on this that the United States is a free country and we could call manga whatever we wanted and in fact, for a long time Ranma 1/2 and all of the a lot older manga, when fist in America, was just called comics. I don't know when the American industry finally allowed the word 'manga' to be put out and heard, but for a while I am pretty sure manga was called comics here... but what does that have to with Americans making 'japanese styled comics' and calling them manga? Simple.

For a time, people really didn't know the term manga, aside from the inside fans. What if that name never came out? Would it still be called comics by us? Would that have been better? Sometimes I think so. But anyways... Svetlana brought up a very good point-- so if something isn't made by an American, it's not what it is anymore? If that's true, then we really don't have much at all. Think about it, America is a cultural stew... many other countries have had it's own culture influence ours in big ways and small.

Like the example Svetlana uses... we can apply it to other things as well-- Karate isn't karate unless it's learned and performed by a Japanese person? A crepe isn't a crepe unless it's made by a French person? You see... Svetlana was right to use that example... because no matter what why you look at it, it's true. There are so many words that have been taken from other countries and cultures that we have made our own and even when we use them, we don't even think about the origin... so why not manga too? Why worry about the origin of something? If you worry about manga's origin, why not study other stuff too and be all defense when someone calls it a pizza or when someone is practicing karate, tell them it's not karate.

On the otherhand... although I've definitely given up my "manga purist" ways... I mean I love Dramacon as a manga art form and I love Avatar: The Last Airbender as an anime inspired show, they are both big loves in my life and they completely and utterly awesome... but Svetlana also used an example that I do not like and it's the thing that makes me think OEL manga shouldn't be called just plain manga...

The girl, arguing about the american made manga being manga, mentioned how chibis in the manga effect if it's actually manga or not. Call me a little stingy, biased, what ever, but does a manga have to have chibis in it to be called a manga? I mean granted, they do it a lot and a lot of it has to do with cuteness factor and maybe a pinch of laziness, but hey... I don't think that is necessarily a good way to point a manga from a comic. I personally prefer looking at the storyline to pick out more of what a manga is than by the style of drawing, especially chibis! That made me feel my worry for the kids of the next generation not having to the knoweldge and experience I've had... being able to tell what's american-made and what's not.

Although... essentially, wouldn't that be a good thing? Breaking the boundaries, finally? Being able to relax and not worry if it's manga your reading or something an American produced? It's that cultural bonding that happened with pizza, with karaoke, with spaghetti... with many things. So why not mangaand anime too eh?

How do you feel about it f-list?

On a lighter note, a post has been made at avatar_fans about their trip to PMX. =DD And Mike and Bryan are evil... saying that Zuko and Katara will be stuck in a cave together ;-; stop playing! You evil, evil men.

Hiatus Begins. [Oct. 2nd, 2006|09:03 am]
A Temporary Goodbye
I'm going on a hiatus starting tomorrow morning, but I'm already posting this as a heads up. I won't make any more posts, but I'll try to answer your posts if I see it possible.
So here is what to expect on my hiatus

[x]When I visit home, I will be able to talk to you all and I'll be able to comment.
[x]Please do not unfriend me while I'm on hiatus, it will not be my fault that I don't have internet. I will need the moneys to buy the connection first.
[x]I may do phone posts, but I'm still unsure about that. Seeing as I won't have my own cellphone for a while either. I need moneys to buy that too.
[x]As soon as I have internet and/or cellphone at my apartment, expect me to be up and running again.

Thank you

Haylo all! [Oct. 1st, 2006|10:16 am]
[I feel... | indifferent]

Tomorrow will be my last actually post in a while and I also will be responding to any of my friends posts that I can respond to, and what I mean by that, I mean a post that isn't too personal or I feel comfortable to responding to without sounding like a retard or something...

so if I haven't commented in a while, I'm sorry... sometimes I just don't know what to say.

But while on my hiatus, you may see me pop up and say something every once and awhile... like when I visit home... so I will comment every once and awhile.

Other than that... my shirts have been shipped, so they will definitely be here for christmas... ^^U

Tomorrow I may go ahead and order the calender I want and one more thing for my birthday, not too sure though, considering tomorrow will be my "busy dy" with saving all of my stuff to disks and finalizing everything to move.

[I feel... | worried]

Here am, basically just finished watching Avatar, still cooing over the cuteness of the Zuko part, hooting the Katara and Toph part, giggling from Aang's and Sokka's, and still misty eyed from Irohs.

But I'm also very worried about my sister, she went off to have dinner with her friends, but she also said they may go to a party, Which may have drinking invovled. I just hope she's smart and doesn't drink anything and returns home soon... ^^U I'm just worried because if she drinks, I know her two friends will drink too... who the fuck is going to be sober to drive? 0___0

Anyways, I'm sure she'll be smart about it.
