PSA
I complained about the total lack of challenges around (I have one, virtually two since [info]bandombigbang should make our fandom life happy again next month *throws confetti* and YAWN, basically), and [info]tempore answered with a powerful battle cry.

:D! ♥♥♥! *somethingelsesomethingelsesomethingelse*!

So, unless I get a wham-bam-thank-you-madam zombieverse plot overnight (I love my zombies, I do, I do), there's gonna be some OTP-shaped, werewolves-shaped action on your screens like, soon. WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEH!

The fashion of the Middle Ages have never held more than a general interest for me, but I’ve come to realize that I need a medieval gown. I know a lot of people who are into it and I would like to be able to attend to some parties and events. As I don’t have any particular period I fancy more than others, I’ve no idea what to sew, though. I would like to use a pattern that is period correct, as well as correct fabrics and colours. I’m not much concerned about sewing something fancy or upper class, but I seem to know better sources for inexpensive silk than I do wool.

I hope you won’t mind. I’m not after anyone doing research for me, but the Net is vast and I’m not sure where to start. I would very much appreciate is someone could point me to a good starting point. I can goggle myself, of course, but I don’t know enough about the fashion of the time to be able to say if the hits I get are trustworthy. What I need to find out about is good patterns and proper material. Well, I assume linen for underwear and wool and silk for outer layers, but I’ve no clue about appropriate weights and textures and only hazy knowledge about colours. Any nudges in the right direction will be much appreciated!

I have a more specific question for my Swedish friends. I’ve been given this sewing description of a 12th century gown:
Photobucket

I like the look and will have no trouble following the description, but I would like to know if this really is a 12th century gown or just a sort-of-12th century.

Even if I won’t start a big collection of medieval clothes, I want the ones I have to be correct.

I was shocked when people informed me that the ZaZa/La Cage Au Faux bits by John were only going to be in the paperback version of I Am What I Am! I know from the last book, due to people's remarks about it, that the longevity of the paperback version is pretty poor due to the photo inserts (i.e., the binding breaks apart very quickly). Even if that weren't the case, any paperback book deteriorates quickly because even the first read-through cracks the binding, no matter how high the quality of the manufacture and how cautious the reader. And, face it: None of us is going to read this book once and stick it in our bookshelves, never to open it again.

My point? I think if we all contact Gavin and plead, with the above reasoning, for a reprint of the hardcover with the additional chapters (as well as the paperback) and with a statement that there are fans willing to pay the difference in price for the difference in quality, we just might get it.

Thoughts? Comments?

In honor of Series 2 of Being Human starting up in a couple of weeks, I decided to put together a picspammy recap of my favorite S1 scenes with my favorite OT3. Even though it wasn't as often as I would have liked, I LOVED when Annie/Mitchell/George shared screentime as a trio - they just had the best dynamic and chemistry as a set of leads. So let's go back and remember what made us love the three supernatural flatmates together :D

Fair warning: this is in no way dial-up friendly.

So who wants tea?

WITH his new beard, it looks like ROBERT PATTINSON is fast turning from a vampire into a werewolf.

The Twilight star gave his fans something else to Robsess over as he sported the new face fuzz on a post-Christmas day out with his sister LIZZY in Barnes, South-West London.  RPattz once admitted that until he was 12 his sis used to dress him up as a girl and introduce him to pals as Claudia.  He said: "Twelve was a turning point as I moved to a mixed school and then I became cool and discovered hair gel."

Thanks to [info]pattinsonlife.

I hope this doesn't kill the rest of the fangirls, but I've got pictures of the Doctor from End of Time part 2's trailer. It does contain spoilers, though.

You can view them here @ my journal.
