We got back a little while ago from a family outing to see The Hobbit and then to have dinner at Denny's. It was a movie all of us wanted to see, so I'm glad we finally found the opportunity.
We all liked the movie, though at least most of us thought it was a little longer than it needed to be. I also found it rather episodic, but the book is like that too, so I'm not sure what they could have done about it. Loved Riddles in the Dark. And, the dwarf songs (they were shorter than I thought they would be based on some complaints I've seen).
Denny's seemed like the right choice for dinner. I had Frodo's Pot Roast Skillet, which I thought was pretty good. My son liked his Ring Burger, too. My husband wasn't as impressed with Gandalf's Gobble Melt, which seemed a lot skimpier than in the picture. My daughters didn't get entrees off the hobbit-inspired menu, but they both enjoyed the kid-sized Bilbo's Berry Smoothies.
So, overall, it was an enjoyable family outing. :-D
