I had a couple of additional comments about books to make, so here's another post. That's 4 in two days which is something of an anomaly for me in recent months. LOL
- When I posted my favorites, I didn't end up including the Iron Druid Chronicles by Kevin Hearne because I only read the first (Hounded) in December for an online book club. I read the second, Hexed, in two days Sunday and Monday and I'm waiting for the third, Hammered. These are quick reads and a lot of fun IMO. The main character, Atticus O'Sullivan is a very old Irish Druid and the idea is that gods from all the various pantheons exist. We see or hear about some familiar ones and some I'd never heard of before (like some Celtic and Asian goddesses). And, there are various other creatures (witches, vampires, werewolves) and random pop culture references. Plus, Atticus has an Irish wolfhound named Oberon whom he can communicate with telepathically and he's adorable. In any case, I thought I'd mention them because I've had a lot of fun reading the first two, I'm looking forward to getting the third, and the fourth is coming out in April.
- Also, I read yesterday that it is the 200th anniversary of Dickens' birth this year, so I plan to try to listen to at least one or two of his books this year. Probably Nicholas Nickleby and possibly Bleak House, neither of which I've read before. I mentioned this to the_mad_hobbit already because I know she is a fan of Dickens, but I thought others may want to try one or more of his books this year in honor of this anniversary. If you do, let me know what you think! :-)
