10:57 pm - We're Back!

Just a quick note to let you all know that we have returned home after our travels and I have most of a brief trip report ready and I'll try to finish and post it tomorrow.
I just did a brief skim through my f-list and that's about all I can manage. If there is anything I missed that you'd like to make sure I see, please let me know and I'll make sure to check it out.

Hi all. We're spending time with my family, so I haven't been online much, but very briefly, I would like to wish ![[info]](http://l-stat.livejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif) poplij a very Happy Birthday!!! I hope you have had a fabulous day filled with people and things you love. :-)
And, Congratulations bellewood on your new family member!!! :-)
We're having a nice trip so far, if a bit hectic at times. Thought we lost my keys and wallet, but found them. Then, discovered the air bed and stuff was missing, but got that back from the hotel where we accidentally left it (OOPS!), so I think we've got just about everything accounted for now. ;-) Hope all is good with all of you. :-)
(Oh, and not sure I've used this icon before, but ladysnaps made it for me for my birthday so here it is. :-) )

In the following BBC Radio 5 Simon Mayo interview, ‘Hobbit’ director Guillermo del Toro confirms that Hugo Weaving will be cast in the upcoming ‘Hobbit’ films. While he does not specifically say he is returning as Elrond, when speaking of Andy Serkis, Ian McKellen and Weaving he says, “…as the roles they originated in the trilogy.” I think we can make a good assumption that means Elrond! 6:20 pm - A Birthday and brief update.

Happy Birthday to julchen11!!! I hope you have had a spectacular day. :-)
I spent something over 10 hours yesterday and today sorting, counting and sending off those Box Tops for Education to earn over $800 for my children's school. I had the whole family helping a bit after school today to make sure I got it done and sent today because some expired today and I needed the postmark today. Then, of course, I cam home and found some more that I missed, including one bag of 50 that I had counted but got missed when I filled the box. OOPS! *rolls eyes* It's not a big deal because I will be sending a bunch again in a few months (well, probably October), but I had thought we had gotten them all done as I was getting ready to go to the post office. Because of this task, I did almost none of my normal things during the school day (like exercise, online stuff, playing piano, reading etc), but now that the package is sent, I should get back to a more normal schedule (although, I have other things to count and mail, and there's stuff that needs work in the house, and I have to do some planning for our summer travels, and . . . well, maybe I still won't be around as much as I sometimes am).
So, if I am rather absent, I apologize and just want you to have some idea why.

For my birthday, ladysnaps gave me this lovely icon of Sam (Merlotte from the Sookie Stackhouse series of books by Charlaine Harris and in this case from the HBO show True Blood, which I've never actually seen. Love Sam in the books, though!). :-)
And, I think that I have now thanked everyone who wished me a Happy Birthday in their LJs. Apologies if I missed anyone, but please let me know if I did. If I did miss anyone, I assure you it was unintentional.
You all made my birthday very special. *hugs f-list*

Just wanted to say Thanks for all the lovely greetings today. I hope to thank everyone personally tomorrow, but I'm too tired right now, so I'm sending out one big thank you and I'll go back and do individual thank yous as soon as I can. I did look at them, though. :-)

5:12 pm - Brief Tree Update

As a lot of you know, we lost one of our boulevard elm trees to Dutch Elm Disease last summer. A couple of days ago, someone from the city came and ground up the stump. Today, more guys came with a grabber/dump truck thing and removed the wood chips and put soil in the hole. I assume this means that we'll be getting our new tree soon, but I don't know exactly when. Wonder what kind we'll end up with?

While I was putting laundry in the dryer a little while ago (yes, my life really is THAT exciting), I composed a limerick because I always write about Not_Alone's Journey chapters.
Journey has TRL on display
And, then on to premiere in L.A.

Oh, and today for the first time in more than a month, we are officially under major flood stage!! WooHoo! We're still at moderate flooding and it will be a while before we get to mild flood stage and then below flood stage. But, at current levels it's no longer causing problems, so Yay!
