Just a quick note to remind everyone that my AIM screen name is Beetlefursuits. However, do NOT send emails to that address. I do NOT check them. I think there may be confusion over that.

Send all emails via my website (www.beetlecat.ca) and I'll respond presently or if your message is more urgent you can send me an LJ note or leave a comment in my journal somewhere. But all quote requests need to be sent via my website.

LOL today at work with one of my seventeen year old co workers who I just met today.. out of the blue she asks me "Have you read Twilight?" and so I had to explain that I had read some of the first book and thought it was The Worst and she was like 'OMG YOU'RE THE FIRST PERSON I'VE TALKED TO WHO HASN'T LIKED IT HOW CAN YOU NOT LIKE IT I WAS JUST GOING TO ASK YOU IF YOU WERE EXCITED ABOUT THE NEW ONE' xDD I could just not stop laughing. We "debated" for a little while a.k.a. giggle-argued while we folded shirts.. eventually I asked "I don't understand why Edward likes Bella. Why does he like her?? Besides the fact that she has the 'sweetest smelling blood' ever" and her answer was "...I- I love Twilight." xD And I was just like "wsdlkfjsdl you didn't answer the question! *dies*" and she was like "BELLA AND EDWARD! Come on!"

Aaanyway, I girled up Half-Life some more. ALYX AND GORDON! Come on! I also NEED A DISPENSER HERE (lol @the comments)

[info]bzzinglikeneon is doing some nice art rec posts. Though I have to just say that I loathe Audrey Kawasaki and Kurt Halsey. Kawasaki and Halsey are to contemporary art what Twilight is to contemporary lit.

I made uh tf2 gmod comic :| )

Would you buy a fursuit item made from "fun fur"?

What's fun fur and why is it bad?
2 (6.5%)

Only if it looked really good and/or was really cheap.
16 (51.6%)

Sure, why not? I don't mind what kind of fur was used in my suit, it's all the same to me!
1 (3.2%)

Never, not even if it was dirt cheap and looked good.
7 (22.6%)

RUN AWAY!!!
5 (16.1%)

Before you all freak out that Growly's using fun fur, know that I'm not. ;P
It's just that I have this premade chicken body in my closet from a costume party that I was thinking of turning into a fox and selling on Furbid for a reasonable price. The fur used in the chicken suit is something slightly better than the normal MM fun fur, but it's still pretty cheap and rough. So if it turns out no one wants a fun fur bodysuit, I might as well not go through the work of fixing up the chicken.

Hello all! I am very new to this comunity and I just had a really quick question for fursuit makers.

I am looking for somone who makes afordable tails.

I have been wanting one for a really long time, and now that I have a bit of money I want to reat myself.

Here's a basic idea of what I want:

Her tail is very tigerlike in shape and length, and has very short fur.

What would you charge for somthing like this and how fast could I get it if I ordered it today?

Many thanks!!!

Alright...

As soon as I get this fur color, I can finish my partial I've been slaving over.

It's a natural fur color.  Think apricot colored/light copper husky.  And it's nearly impossible to find.

If I do find it, it's sold by the roll, or at a 3 yard minimum, or it's just plain expensive.  I just don't know what to do.  I only need about 2 yards at the maximum, if that.  The only method I can pay by is cash.

I'm in love with the copper husky idea, and I'd REALLY hate to have to change the color...

I've already searched over the internet, and the Livejournal Fursuit page's suggestions of fur sites...  The nearest fabric store is a 4 hour drive away, and the only reason I have the white fur I have is because Wal-Mart sells it for $3.48.  *sigh*

Is anyone willing to part with fur they have in this color?  I'm thinking about 1- 2 yards....  I would seriously appreciate it.  <3

So I am looking around at doing a rottie partial, but I am not really sure what pile fur to use. I am afraid that short pile will be too fluffy looking, and I won't be able to give it enough definition with seal. Does anyone have any recommendations? Pictures are also a huge plus. :)

Thanks in advance.

After my first debut in San Antonio in my partial with the local furs (we went bowling, then ran around in Barnes and Noble and HEB XD), I have many requests for tails, ears, and possibly some partials in the near future. I guess I'm going to be the new fursuit maker in this city o.O

I already made a set of tails for one fellow and he liked them immensely. I just wanted to show them off.

This is me modeling them, btw. The topmost tail is a single, so he can choose to wear one by itself or put it with the double to have all three. They are a little more complicated to get on but work well together.

Tail sewing - HALP!

frustrated

current mood: frustrated

Hi you all! I'm just embarking on the wonderful, yet often frustrating world of sewing fur. I made my first tail a couple weeks ago, and through the experience gained from that I'm now doing an art trade with someone by making her a small tail. (About 15")

When I made my first tail, I hand sewed the pieces first to baste them together and then machine sewed alongside the hand sewing as a reinforcement. What I found (and I'm continually running up against now) is that if I machine sew very close to the basting, I get gobs and gobs of thread on the backside of the fur jamming the machine. (I've heard it called "spaghetti," for that's what it looks like!) On my first tail, I overcame this problem by sewing away from my hand stitching. It made for a much larger seam allowance than I wanted, but it worked. Now however, since I'm working on a much, much smaller tail, I can't have a gigantic seam allowance. That, and now no matter how for I would sew from the seam now anyway, I STILL get tons of spaghetti going on!

So, my question is this: How do I stop all the thread from jamming up like that? I've heard it's an issue with tension, and I've tried that. (A tension of 4 was what worked before.) I've tried the machine on a test piece of normal fabric and it stitches normally, so I know the machine itself is okay. And I have been able to get a normal stitch on a test scrap of fur. Oh, and I'm using a size 14 needle. (I've changed the needle too, still have the same problem.) I've been working on this for HOURS and I can't seem to figure it out. Any help will be gratefully appreciated!
