Hey everyone,

I have been a watcher of the community for awhile and have responded to posts but never really posted anything of my own. I figure what better way to start than with a picture post.

I also wanted to ask if anyone had any suggestions for dealing with fabric that frays a lot? I am working on an asian brocade and it is soo difficult, inserting the busk eyes for this fabric is prooving very tricky...

Here are some photos of one of my older corsets, but it's probably the first corset I did where things actually turned out exactly the way I wanted. I also made the hat, shoulder piece, bloomers and detachable bustle skirt. I can't take credit for the super awesome high neck blouse which I borrowed from the photographer Serge of SplusSphotography.com (He's awesome)

Total newbie in need of advice please!

Hello everyone! This is my first post to this community.

Let me start off by saying I've never owned a real corset before, but have been fascinated by them for ages. I've finally decided to buy one, and I've been researching different makers and prices. Since this is my first ever corset, I'm trying to go with a somewhat cheaper model to see if I even like the look/feel before I save up for an expensive custom one. I understand the concept of getting what you pay for when it comes to corsets, though until I find out what styles I like I'm trying to keep it under $180. I've looked at Meschantes, and have read mixed reviews both here and elsewhere. Does anyone have any input for me about them? I've looked at some of their sales in their ebay stores and I was leaning towards trying them to start off with.

Some background information, my waist is about 36" natural. I'm looking to start with an underbust since I have a rather large chest and it just seems more comfortable. I prefer black as far as fabrics goes and am very open to any recommendations anyone has for me or other stories about Meschantes. Thank you so much for any help!

Just wondering if the current round we were in was ever going to end? I know I never did get a badge. Was the round extended again or something? I think it was supposed to end July 1st, wasn't it?

Can we get some sort of update?

I've got a little good news! Paypal got back to me with my claim, and I received my payment back in full. Yay!

I'm moving slowly today, but may be up to a little costume work later, we'll see.

old dried up deer head.

I have huge deer head thats been hung in a tree for over two years, skin and fur and all. A friend asked me to clean out its skull, but the skin is so thick, and has become so hard, its a pain to cut/scrape off... So i was wondering if boiling it will soften the skin at all? Or is boiling only good on fresh carcasses?

This post is being made as a warning to anyone who might want to do business with this person. He has toyed around with me and my friend and come up with stories to back up his own. I have posted emails from both sides so you can see the email tags we had to do back and forth to get any information from this guy. If frazzle wants to add the notes he sent back and forth with him he will do so (I just do not have access to them).

This is the story with email conversations I had with Rex, the person who bid on 2 otters that were made by Frazzle and given to me to sell after FC. Both otters were posted the month of June 2009 . As always, I rather post on ebay because it is a lot easier to do so and much safer than furbid or furbuy. So this is what happened. As always, when someone bids on an auction in any auction site it is a good idea or at least common knowledge to pay no later than 2 days after the auction has ended. That way the seller does not worry about if they are going to get paid or not.

The happy otter auction ended in June the 4th of 2009. I had to fight with Rex a few times to get payment out of him to pay for an auction. Again, if you bid on something I do not need to shake the money out of you. Serious bidders rule you know? But this was a bit different. Here are my emails concerning the first otter. Take in mind these are all ebay emails back and forth, if anyone needs to see screen shots instead of just copy and pastes by me I can gladly do so as I have nothing to hide in this situation.

My first email I got worried and told him I needed payment. I did not see him email me back or anything so I demanded payment as soon as possible, this was his first email to me.

So I decided I'm going to make a coyote partial (which will be up for sale in the near future :3 ) Basic foaming is done, but now it's time for redlines and refining! I did my own set of lines, but if anyone has some suggestions or a better set of lines, please let me know =)

Skiltaire?
by beastcub ([info]beastcub)
at July 20th, 2009 (02:13 am)

i have a commission inqury for a Skiltaire and i remembered some one else made one here and mentioned that the character/species belonged to some one else. i already made the mistake of making a crux not knowing it was not the commissioners personal creation (and thankfully the real creator was fine with it and gave me the all clear to make future crux suits)
so does the species belong to some one and do you know if its okay to make suits of one?
if you do not know if it is okay to just make a Skiltaire suit then can some one lend me the contact info i need to find out?

hi everyone! I have a few simple questions I hope wont be too repeated (im sure it gets asked alot, i just cant find any).

So I want to preserve a few things, make myself a tiny little cabinet of curiosity. I really dont want to use formalin or anything to preserve with, and I read you can use alcohol.

I was wondering if any of you use alcohol to preserve wet specimens, and how it works for you?

I also read its best to remove the inside organs first, and to put them in alcohol and then change it to fresh alcohol after a few days because the first batch gets murky with the breakdown of the fluids/blood/whatever.

Any advice here?

Dearest customers,

I'm really sick right now, and am having a really hard time doing my best work. Instead of working slowly/not very well, I'm opting to not work on commissions for a day or two until I kick the worst of this. This will create slight delays, but everyone who is expecting finished costumes in July will be getting them in July.

If I don't get back to you right away via email, just give me a little time. I'm taking it really easy. Michael is just getting over this head cold thing, and he had three or four days of feeling absolutely horrid. I'm on day two.

Thank you for your patience and understanding,
