10:23 pm - Booyah.
|
Finished up the silent generator - currently patent pending. Just as efficient and reliable as other generators, and is whisper quiet.
Who da man? ;)
Trunks the Elder has moved out, as everyone knows by now... and I miss him. Yes, this is the Mommy Stuff. Sorry. :) The good thing is that he's still pretty close, and he still is over almost every day to either train or do laundry (their machine seems to break quite a bit). It's not the same, though. I miss having him around all the time... they have to grow up sometime, I guess.
Man... if I'm this upset now, I wonder how I'll be when the kids I actually gave birth to move out?
You kids might want to brace yourselves. ;)

11:49 pm - Whoopsies...
|
They -still- don't have the power back on in our neighborhood... a bunch of downed trees are making it difficult, I think. I hope they get it back on soon... I'm getting really sick of hearing these generators hum day and night.
I should invent silent ones. I'll start working on that tomorrow.
So here's why I'm an idiot: guess who left the 24-hour test drive car in the driveway with the top down, then forgot it was out there... for the -entire- storm?
Heh heh. Oops.
Yeah. I'm in a wee bit of trouble with the dealership now. D'oh.
Expect a Mommy Post later this week... the older Trunks has moved to his own place now. *sniffle* But I'll spare you all the dramatics for now. ;)

10:39 pm - Various Happenings
|
I need a new car. I'm tired of fixing my current one. What should I get... ooooh, maybe a convertible. A Mustang convertible. :D Yeah, I'm gonna buy one of those. Who wants to go car shopping with me?
I have a pool! Yes, I know I say it constantly, but I just -love- it. I can swim laps everyday and get a good workout without getting all sweaty and stinky. Hmmm... you should look into a swimming workout, Vegeta. ;)
Oh, 17 - we've got a couple old couches in the basement that you're welcome to. Nothing wrong with them, they just didn't go with the decor when we remodeled several years ago. I'll do some digging, see what else I can find.
And if this damn cat jumps on my head one more time I'm gonna tie his feet in a knot.

Pool's done!
I found the best pool guys... man, did they work fast. And they did a great job, too. I have a pool! :D
To celebrate, I'm inviting everyone to a pool party next Saturday, starting... oh, let's say around 2-ish. We'll cook out and enjoy the water. Everyone bring pool toys!

4:04 pm - And now I will explain.
|
Ok, here's why the waffle outburst: I was in a bookstore the other day and ended up looking through a cookbook devoted exclusively to waffles. Cinnamon raisin waffles with cream cheese spread, blueberry-yogurt waffles, french toast waffles, Michigan cherry waffles... they all sounded absolutely luscious. :) And, as anyone in my family can tell you, I'm not much of a cook - however, mixing ingredients isn't hard, and the waffle iron does the hard part.
So... who wants to buy me a very early birthday present? ;)
It's waaaaay too hot outside... I feel like I'm wasting the summer by hiding inside where it's air conditioned, but really, it's too hot to do anything except lounge around in a bathing suit with a cold drink at the beach or by a pool...
That's it.
Vegeta? We're getting a pool. :D

9:28 pm - Home at last
|
It's funny... on the way home, we all (well, most of us) talked about how much fun we had... then walked in the house and proceeded to go on and on about how glad we were to see our beds again. Not to mention the bathroom. Everyone took inordinately long showers tonight.
I feel clean again. I love that. :)
The best thing to come out of this trip, in my opinion - Trunks and 17 are not only getting along, they're actually friends now. That's just... fantastic. I feel like everything has been fixed now, you know?
Yeah, yeah, Mommy Syndrome. I just want the people I love to be happy. Is that so wrong? :)
Well, this entry contained a whole lot o' nothing, but who cares - I'm clean and comfortable and on my own computer. Hooray!

9:50 pm - Ah, the Great Outdoors...
|
The biggest problem with the great outdoors is that it doesn't have indoor plumbing.
Going to the bathroom behind a tree and bathing in a lake aside, I'm really enjoying myself so far. It's very peaceful here, and everyone's pretty mellow after the car ride. There's some bickering and whining from a few people who shall remain nameless *glares at Bra*, but I think we're all getting into it.
I only brought two laptops along (in their -cases-, Bra), because the point of camping is to get away from technology from a few days. But we're all hopelessly addicted to the Net, so that's why we have these along. ;)
The car ride out was long but fun - lots of loud singing with the radio. :) We had walkie talkies so we could communicate between cars, which was good because I could make sure Vegeta knew where we were going. The bad part was Goku kept getting on it to ask when we were going to eat again.
But now we're here, we're unpacked, and we're more or less ready to call it a night. Hopefully the mosquitos will give it a rest too... Trunks, thank you so much for bringing all that bug spray and citronella candles. You're a life saver.
Note to Bra: you just better watch your mouth, young lady. You're on -very- thin ice. Get it?
Goodnight. :)

10:11 pm - Cooking with 17
|
Goku and 17 are the only people I know who can turn cooking into a contact sport. ;) Thank goodness Vegeta's a halfway decent cook. :)
Speaking of 17, I'm still not sure what to do about him. I think the best bet would be for me to modify him so he's essentially human again. Removing his android components would mean quite a dip in his power level, though, and I doubt he wants that. It's nothing that couldn't be brought back up with training - but it's up to him. The other option, giving him an upgrade, makes me nervous - I'm scared I'll do something wrong and disable him or kill him or something. I doubt he wants that, either. ;)
Note to self: invite 17 over so we can talk about this in person instead of via LJ. Do not let him near the kitchen. Repeat - do NOT let him near the kitchen.
What else... oh, Bra figured out ki blasts. The lawn may never recover.
Note to self: buy grass seed. Figure out somewhere else for Bra to practice.
I think that's all. I'm tired today... so goodnight. :)

4:56 pm - Oh boy...
|
You know, I think I'm too accepting too fast sometimes. Either that or I just don't use the good sense I was born with often enough.
17 wanted a diagnostic check, and he's talking upgrade. I invited him over without a second thought. I was a bit wary, but I figured he's ok now. People change.
Well, he certainly seems to be on our side now, but that doesn't mean Vegeta and the older Trunks are having an easy time of it. Not that Vegeta's terribly accepting of anybody, but I can tell he's not too crazy about this. And Trunks... he's not taking this too well. He's trying, I know, but it's hard for him. I don't quite know what to do... the bad guys seem to get co-opted into our circle of friends so easily, don't they? ;) But it's not that way for Trunks. Eventually he's going to go home to his own time, a timeline where his father is dead and his little sister doesn't exist, because of two people he associates with almost every day here.
It's the Mommy Syndrome... I want to fix it. I want to make it better. And I don't know how.
Krillin's not having the best time either... apparently 17 is getting a kick out of tormenting him, and 18 thinks it's pretty funny. I don't like that - that's not how you treat people you love.
...No. Not my business. It's between Krillin and 18. I'll shut up.
Anyway. Back to the diagnostic check. From what I can tell, all systems are go, but 17 and 18 are human-based, not strictly AI. That makes things a little thorny on my end - I'm a scientist, not a doctor. I can modify him to make him essentially fully human again, but I don't think he wants that. As for an upgrade, I can try, but I'm used to robotics - not humans with robotic enhancements. 17, let me know what you want to do, ok?
So, yeah. Lots of issues. There's also camping plans floating around that we'll have to make more concrete, but that's for another day, I think. I've done enough thinking for awhile.

4:33 pm - Well, -this- should be interesting...
|
Ok, you all saw that LJ entry, right? And 18's probably shown the letter to everyone by now. I think I can safely say that NOBODY saw that coming. I certainly didn't.
Android 17. Yeah, this will definitely be interesting. 18 is absolutely thrilled - I've never seen her like this. It's really something. :)
I hope we get to actually see him soon... he says he's looking forward to meeting her family. His family too, now. Marron is just thrilled to pieces too, though I think Krillin's a little wary of the situation. Which I fully understand.
I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens.

9:28 pm - Wheeee...
|
Ow. I need to find a better hangover cure. Well, rather than bore you with the details of last night (since most of them are pretty blurry), I'll give you a few quotes that I managed to remember. A lot of these are parts of stories that would take too long to explain, so just enjoy them on their own. :)
"Vegeta, if I want any crap from you, I'll squeeze your head." 18, to Vegeta, before we left. I may have to use that one. ;)
"Why don't I know any normal people?!" Videl. Good question, honey. :)
"My butt's warm, I've got listening ears, tell me what's wrong with Muppets." Videl again. I came back from the bathroom just in time to hear that, so I don't know what prompted it. :)
"I don't think my imagination has a wide-angle lens." Chi Chi. I wish I could remember who we were talking about...
"I would throw this at you if I didn't want to eat it." Me, threatening 18 with a chicken wing.
"Let's see him bake bread without thumbs!" Chi Chi again. I think we were talking about Goku, but I'm not sure. :)
"If you're going to be screwed up, at least be good at being screwed up." 18.
"It's not a good idea to flip off Boy Scouts when they're traveling in groups." 18 again.
"I'd know that schoolgirl belch anywhere." Me.
"When all else fails, laugh for the oxygen." Chi Chi.
"That was one of the nicest threats I've ever received." Videl.
"Driving without shoes, that's what life is all about." Overheard - it was some guy at the next table.
"I've been attracted to humans. They're just so much less appealing." Me.
And finally, the Quote of the Night, from the Birthday Girl herself: "I just figured out what the @#$% is going on!"
I'm glad one of us did, 18. I'm glad one of us did. :)

I'd sing for you, but I don't think the effect would be quite the same in text. :) I made an arrangement for us tonight that I think you'll be happy with... since, if all goes according to plan, none of us will be in any shape to drive by the end of the night, I rented us a limo. Happy birthday. :)

Pride has a new bad habit - vomiting in people's shoes. Actually, just vomiting in Goku's shoes (not while he's wearing them, obviously). I'm a little suspicious about this... perhaps I need to do some detective work around here.

9:25 pm - I Brake For Animals
|
Just a random event that I thought was totally adorable:
I was driving home from running some errands today on a pretty quiet road. I came over a hill, and there was a little box turtle crossing the road. I drove around him, then pulled the car over and got out so I could get him out of the road before someone else who wasn't as careful drove by. Of course, as soon as I got near him, he tucked into his shell - they always do that. But here's the adorable part: I was going to put him in the creek alongside the road, and as soon as I started walking, he poked his little head and feet out and started moving his legs. Like he was walking on the air or something.
All together now: Awwwwww!
Well, I thought it was cute, anyway. So I put him safely in the creek, drove home, and immediately washed my hands, the steering wheel, and the gear shift.
Yes, he was cute. But he also could have salmonella germs. Which is why you are -not- getting one as a pet, Trunks. And that's final.

10:40 pm - It's just a game...
|
At least, until your team loses the championship. Then it's a cause for mourning.
At least that's what everyone around here seems to think... Goku, Gohan, Goten, Yamcha, and Krillin came over on Monday night to watch the NCAA championship game. (Chi Chi, Videl, 18, you should have come too - there was waaaaay too much testosterone to deal with on my own.) I watched the 2nd half - we were all rooting for the KU Jayhawks.
And they lost. Sigh.
So the mood's been pretty somber around here... which I don't really get. I mean, it -is- just a game. At least they made it that far, right? And at least it was close.
But that's me being logical, which has no place in the mind of a sports fan. ;) So here's another piece of logic to end on: there's always next year. :)
