Epic fail by the Lakers in Boston last night. I think the fourth quarter they just realized, "Holy shit, we're in the Finals? It probably wasn't a good idea to completely suck for those first three quarters." A lot of that was on the refs, though. Still, when Sasha Vujacic (or He Whose Name Cannot Be Spelled Correctly) is taking an off-balance shot that ends up being the biggest shot of the game, you're not doing something right. And Pierce owned him, anyways. And Powe!!!!
ANYWAYS.
Been writing a lot of my X-Men: Evo WIP. It's interesting editing A Day in the Life and writing that fic at the same time: I end up comparing the two Kittys. I really hope they don't overlap or anything. On one hand they're both strong, independently-minded, moral characters with occasional tempers (especially when it comes to Nat and Lance), but on the other hand Kitty Jones is more of a loner while Kitty Pryde is a very sociable person. Pryde's mannerisms are a bit different - although it's hard trying to find the balance between the valley girl seen in early Evo and her more sophisticated persona, especially when you're writing a fic that takes place two years after Ascension - but they both share a sense of naivete. I think in this case, Pryde's a little less naive, since she's experienced so much, so A Day in the Life is more of a learning experience for Kitty Jones while this X-Men fic is just a continuation of events that seem to be recurring in Kitty Pryde's life. It's interesting, at least, and the dynamic between both Kittys and their parents is similar but strikingly different. I'm having fun with it, but it's a challenge.
Enough with my inane ramblings about writing, since I don't know anyone who's a fan of both Evo and Barty besides myself. Although Lance is also a struggle, but a fun struggle. I'm trying to balance his "tough guy" exterior with his obvious inner romanticism. Kind of like if you mixed John McLane and Bruce Springsteen cerca Born to Run, with a slight dash of awkwardness.
Hm, I really do talk too much.

Ummmmm well. Done with most my schoolwork, so I'm going to start writing more - yay! Really excited about that. I've been reading a lot, as has been the case for the last month or two, and I'm just really looking forward to the summer... especially VIVA LA VIDA (or Death and All His Friends). Not in love with Violet Hill, although it's fun to sing along to, but Viva la Vida (the song) is one of my new favorites and from what I've heard of Lovers in Japan, it's a good mix of Parachutes and U2.
Anywho, no idea when I'll work on Tommy, but hopefully soon. Still trying to finish that Evo fic, but the going's slow on that one. I went to a Radiohead concert recently, and it was worht every penny. Thom Yorke is a crazy bastard, but it was awesome - the crowd was psyched, they had to come out for two encores. Radiohead = teh awsum.
No real exciting plans for any time soon. Hopefully I'll be able to make it down to my friend's lakehouse, and I'm excited to spend time in Boston (especially) and then New York in early July, and spending a few days in Austin later that month should be fun.
So. Gotten new inspiration from watching an episode of Evo last night on Veoh (they took a lot of the episodes off!), so I should go write.
(Viva la vida!)

Chapter 7 of A Day in the Life has finally been posted. I'm hoping that I'll update You Can Call Me Tommy before I leave town Sunday, which shouldn't be too bad - in theory the chapter's done (and then some) but I need to finish the whole two-parter before I split it in half to post. But that shouldn't be too bad.
Still obsessing over X-Men: Evolution. No surprises there. I might try writing a few one-shots or couple-chapter fics to kill the plot bunnies. But we'll see.
And Rock Band? I didn't get it, but a guy I know did, and the drums are AWESOME. I love that game. Super Mario Galaxy is equally awesome, and Zelda DS is fun. Got two albums (Tommy and Purple Rain) but I haven't been able to listen to them yet (CD/DVD drive is broken... typical Hal).
And now I'm off to slay the plot bunnies.

ZOMG VEOH I LOVE YOU. WHY DIDN'T I KNOW OF YOU EARLIER?!!!
X-Men Evo episodes! NO GOOD DEED! I've only been looking for this FOREVER. My season 3 dvd isn't enough. Now I can finally write that fic I've been wanting to write (because No Good Deed + Flaming Lips + Lance = plot bunny).
SUDDENLY LIFE IS GOOD.
(And I was going to bed five minutes ago... psh. At least now I'm staying up to do my homework.)
Oh, and Isabella - my internet's (sort of kind of) fixed now. You're bad luck.

Title: Potential Fandom: X-Men: Evolution Rating: 12+, K+ Genre: General Wordcount: 1740 Summary: Charles Xavier sees potential in Lance Alvers, even if Lance doesn't. Notes: Set in the third season, after 'Mainstream'.
First X-Men: Evo fic in a while - I really missed the characters. I might write another Evo fic soon, dunno (although The Office is also tempting me at the moment).

My season 3 box set of X-Men: Evolution a few days ago and I finished it already. Great pick-up, really. Being a cartoon, it was a little cheesy at times, but still, a great show. Highlights: 'Day of Recovery', 'Mainstream' (the infamous episode itself!), 'The Toad, The Witch, and the Wardrobe', and 'Dark Horizon'. 'Blind Alley' and 'X23' were low points, but they were merely average, so it wasn't that bad. Oh, and 'Self Possessed' was one of the coolest episodes ever.
I'm such a nerd.

So I edited a chapter and wrote maybe 400 words today, but I figure if I can just write something every day, it'll keep me in the habit. Since it's been way too long since I wrote something Evo, here's a little drabble.
Title: Nine Minutes Rating: PG Fandom: X-Men: Evolution Genre: General Wordcount: 296 Disclaimer: Not mine. Summary: “We have no time,” she says as he starts the ignition. Ship: Lance/Kitty Notes: The title is derived from how long it took me to write it. I just felt like writing, really, so there're bound to be a few mistakes.
( “Relax.” )

A lot of updates recently, but one in particular. A one-shot added today:
Summary: "You should be proud. You outlasted Xavier."
