"He wanted to live forever or die trying."

Finished Lonely Werewolf Girl, almost done with Catch-22 (hoping to finish it tonight), about to start a Noam Chomsky book my friend lent me. Then after that it's either The World is Flat or this awesome book called Mind Control, which the same friend will let me borrow.

A Day in the Life has been updated. Really trying to get back in the writing mood, but it's not been easy so far. Oh well.

I listened to a morning radio show on the way home

Wow. I'm awake at 6 in the morning. Woohoo! Not anything random, either - I was doing a comm service thing (no, not court-mandated! NHS!) at the high school, volunteering to watch middle schoolers during a lock-in. Pretty fun, a lot of basketball and video games and loud movies that prevented me from sleeping on the library floor.

Haven't been writing a ton, but I don't feel underproductive. Finished Pride and Prejudice this week (Izzy's fault!) and really liked it, working my way through The Corrections right now (good book - and I don't like underlining in this format, thus the italics). I got this book called Lonely Teenage Werewolf Girl, although maybe Teenage wasn't in the title, that looks pretty good. Apparently it's a Neil Gaiman favorite or something.

Today's been a great day overall. I got my SAT results, which were pretty satisfactory. Now if I could just get that little thing called sleep...

Wow, it's been a while. Not really much to update. Working on an X-Men: Evo WIP, trying to get inspired for Tommy. Edited my header with the alleged lyrics of an unreleased Coldplay song called "42" (ahhhhhh Coldplay/Hitchiker!).

Tired. Time to go!

Spygate, here I come

I SLEPT IN TODAY YAYYYYYYYYYYY!

Been a good day. Woke up, ate, had a baseball scrimmage, and then I came home and typed up some writing I had written in a notebook (parts of two stories added up to 1300 words together - huzzah!). Had fun with recording equipment and microphone effects. Frank Sinatra never sounded so evil (uh, yeah... I'll explain this sometime later, too lazy now).

Super Sunday is <strike>tomorrow</strike>! It's late, but I'm going to try to write from scratch a little more, perhaps add to what I've typed up or start something new. And then sleep time with my dogs. (YES PLURAL. PUPPY! He's already managed to chew up everything.)

Go Cowboys.

To the Giants fan sitting in front of me:

You were really annoying that entire game. You don't know what holding is. You also don't know what pass interference is. I'm sorry, but that's the truth.

Also, standing on the seats and hooting and hollering while disgruntled Boys fans file out is probably not the wisest idea. I didn't stick around to see if there was a fight or not, but still.

Overall I appreciate your enthusiasm. Really. If you were a Cowboys fan I'd love you. I think I'm writing this to you because I don't want to even think about the Cowboys. So I'm sorry you're taking my frustration. Not that you'll ever read this. Which is a good thing, judging from the number of beer trips you made. We wouldn't want you throwing up on the computer.

To Dallas sports teams in general:

Please, just stop trying. You all suck. I hate to say it, but the Rangers are probably the best team around since they're so consistent. They never let you down because they always suck. So hooray Rangers.

To myself:

Stop watching playoff games. You start whining and writing letters and whatnot.

Disgruntedly yours,
Me

"I was hoping she was into hard drugs."

Juno owns my soul, so... yeah.

Title: Love-Hate Subtraction
Fandom: Juno
Rating: PG
Genre: General
Wordcount: 434
Summary: Juno says they have a love-hate relationship, but Paulie thinks one of the necessary components is missing.
Notes: Random. Post-movie.

“I think I’ve decided that I hate you,” Juno announces as she strums his unplugged semi-hollow.

Paulie barely looks up from his notes (negative b plus or minus the square root of b squared…). “Why?”

“Because you can just sit there and study without being hopped up on three different ADHD pills. I mean, how can you not be distracted?” She motions to the walls. “Just look at all this rad racecar wallpaper you’ve got going on. It’s totally fascinating.”

He stretches out one of his legs and flips the page over in his binder. “I’m sorry.”

“And that too!” she exclaims, banging out an E7 chord to prove her frustration. Paulie winces. He’s always hated seventh chords. “You actually apologize. You act like it’s easy or something. Do you know how hard it is for me to swallow my plus-size ego and say I’m sorry?”

“I’ll stop apologizing. And I’ll put up some less exciting wallpaper.”

“And you always try to fix things,” she goes on, as it’s obviously become her quest to find everything that shouldn’t be right about him but is anyway. “I’m lazy. It’s kind of annoying when you do all this stuff I can’t do without thinking about it twice.” She glances at the racecars. “Keep the wallpaper. It’s cool in a retro geek sense.”

Paulie nods. “I’ll keep the wallpaper.”

She turns away from the racecars and looks at him. “You know, I don’t think I actually hate you.”

“Well, that’s good. At least I think so.”

“I’m just really jealous of you,” she finishes, absent-mindedly finger-picking the beginning of some White Album song. “I know I’ve said this like a thousand times before, but you’re naturally the most awesome dude since Johnny Rotten, and it’s a bit irritating.”

He decides to play along and affects a half-serious face. “Sounds like you’re better off without me.”

“Nope,” Juno says, shaking her head. “Because I kept thinking about you in Spanish the other day and I maybe dozed off a little and then the next day Señora Gringa decided to lay a pop quiz over the present imperfect on us and I completely bombed it.” She pointed the guitar at him like a gun. “All your fault.”

“I guess you’re stuck with me,” he replies. “Sucks for you. You’re trapped in a loveless relationship.”

“I never said that,” she counters, staring at him in a way that makes his throat close up and his neck start to itch. “I’ve got a love-hate attitude towards you.”

“But you already said you really don’t hate me,” Paulie muses.

Juno just smiles.

You Can Call Me Tommy has finally been updated, and just in the nick of time, too. You can see the new chapter here at HPFF or here at fanfiction.net. Go me! And the next chapter should be up in a week or two. Also, there's been a slight addition to the beginning of Chapter 1 explaining AU and whatever, but that's geared more towards new readers than anything.

I'm heading out early tomorrow morning and going out of town for a week. I probably won't be around much, but I'll try to get online every once in a while. Have a great holiday break, everybody.

Chapter 7 of A Day in the Life has finally been posted. I'm hoping that I'll update You Can Call Me Tommy before I leave town Sunday, which shouldn't be too bad - in theory the chapter's done (and then some) but I need to finish the whole two-parter before I split it in half to post. But that shouldn't be too bad.

Still obsessing over X-Men: Evolution. No surprises there. I might try writing a few one-shots or couple-chapter fics to kill the plot bunnies. But we'll see.

And Rock Band? I didn't get it, but a guy I know did, and the drums are AWESOME. I love that game. Super Mario Galaxy is equally awesome, and Zelda DS is fun. Got two albums (Tommy and Purple Rain) but I haven't been able to listen to them yet (CD/DVD drive is broken... typical Hal).

And now I'm off to slay the plot bunnies.

New X-Men: Evo one-shot, because I've been obsessing this entire week.

Title/Link: Waitin' for a Superman
Fandom: X-Men: Evolution
Rating: T
Genre: General
Wordcount: 1919
Summary: As Pietro and the rest of the Brotherhood flee from the impending disaster in "No Good Deed," Lance stays behind. After all, somebody's got to play the hero.
Notes: Been wanting to write this forever. Hooray Lance!

ZOMG VEOH I LOVE YOU. WHY DIDN'T I KNOW OF YOU EARLIER?!!!

X-Men Evo episodes! NO GOOD DEED! I've only been looking for this FOREVER. My season 3 dvd isn't enough. Now I can finally write that fic I've been wanting to write (because No Good Deed + Flaming Lips + Lance = plot bunny).

SUDDENLY LIFE IS GOOD.

(And I was going to bed five minutes ago... psh. At least now I'm staying up to do my homework.)

Oh, and Isabella - my internet's (sort of kind of) fixed now. You're bad luck.

Like I care some guy up there's saying 30 seconds

Chapter 6 of A Day in the Life is up, finally.

Last night's game was so frustrating. The Patriots got incredibly lucky, and the Ravens shot themselves in the foot. Wow. I hate the Pats so much. I mean, really. Can they be kicked out of the league? Please? I don't care if it's legal or not. I just hate them.

But enough about that. Ugh.

I've been really tired lately. No idea why. I wish House was still on. Stupid strike. I get why it's happening, but really. Come to an agreement - I want to watch my favorite shows!

And I'm a beast at Halo. (Not really. But I'm not terrible, which is somewhat amazing.)

New one-shot, completely random. Oh well. Title is from a Led Zeppelin song, although it really couldn't be any more different from the fic.

Also, if you'd rather read at fanfiction.net - clicky clicky.

Girafarigs are a pain in my ass

Chapter 5 of A Day in the Life has been posted. Huzzah.

The Cowboys own my soul. I want Fox to put up the last House episode already since I missed it. I really want Rock Band, but it costs a bajillion dollars. Been playing Pokemon and Zelda recently.

And on the subject of Pokemon! I'm somewhat frustrated, because I really need someone to trade with. I mean, Haunter (affectionately dubbed Voldemort) and Graveler and Machoke aren't just going to evolve themselves... ARGH. Because seriously, I love Haunter and everything, but Gengar's much better. Everyone knows that. But I'm trying to convince this guy at my school who owns every pre-DS Pokemon game to get a DS, which he wants but doesn't have the money yet. Gah.

I'm such a nerd.

You will not pass!

Chapter 4 of A Day in the Life is up. So yay for that.

In other news, am I the only one who just realized that Iorek is being voice by <strike>Gandalf</strike> <strike>Magneto</strike> <strike>the Fantasy Film Jesus!</strike> McKellen? A film that looked like it was made of fail is now totally made of WIN. (Well, probably 95% win and 5% "WTF no religion?!!!!!")

Not sure how the film looks, though. Kind of seems cheesy in a PS/SS or CoS Chris Columbus kind of way. Never knew daemon was pronounced like that (somewhat appeases me for all the no religion crap), and not sure what to think of the bear animation - I'd have to see if it grates on me over the course of the film. The brief glimpse of Pantaliamon (or however you spell it, it's late) did look good though, but I'm reserving judgement on the girl. I kept anticipating that Iorek would growl, "You will not pass!" at her. The bear fight, however, did look pretty badass, although you could distinguish the CGI when Lyra showed up in the picture.

Meh. It looks kind of like Narnia and LotR put together, with a little HP element. If it's like Narnia (although more cynical and less religious, of course) I'll be happy. I love the irony of the thing, seeing how Pullman just came out and blasted Narnia and LotR. Brilliant author. Completely idiotic man.

Aaaaaannnnndddd I'm done. Time for sleep/writing. They're interchangeable, really. (That doesn't speak well of my writing.)

It's getting near dawn

Finally getting around to post that house_las fic.

Title: Remember
Fandom: House
Rating: 12+
Genre: General
Wordcount: 544
Summary: "I don't forget." House/Stacy
Notes: house_las round 5: Forget. This one got me kicked off, which is ironic because I thought it was my best entry. I think the formatting issues the first go round (which I don't understand, it was fine when I tried it) didn't help.

The first time she met him they were both in a bar. He was sitting by himself at the end of the bar, and she was standing at the jukebox, just having finished making her song selections. She was walking back to her seat when he stopped her.

“Pick any good ones?” he asked.

She raised her eyebrows. “No, I picked the crappiest songs I could find.”

“I thought so,” he replied, smirking. He jutted out his hand to her expectantly. It wasn’t an invitation to shake hands – more of an order, really. “I’m Greg House.”

“Stacy Warner,” she said, shaking his hand lightly.

“Nice to meet you, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera.” He took a swig of his beer, the smirk still on his face (she had the sneaking suspicion it was a permanent affliction). A Cream song she couldn’t identify by name began playing in the background. “Nice song choice.”

“I didn’t choose it.”

“Nice song anyways,” he said, shrugging. He looked to his beer and then back to her and grinned. “So are you going to tell me your number or what?”

She stared at him and crossed her arms. “I don’t have to, you know.”

“Ah,” he replied, cocksure glint in his eyes, “but you will.”

He was arrogant and rude, but as much as she hated to admit it, his self confidence attracted her to him. “Fine,” she said, deciding to humor him, “get a napkin and I’ll write it down for you.”

“Just tell me,” he stated.

“You’ll forget.”

“No, I won’t,” he responded, and for some reason she believed him when he said it.

She acquiesced and gave him her number, and after a few minutes of meaningless small talk they parted ways. By the next morning she had pushed him from her mind, knowing that logically there was almost no way he could remember her number.

Three days later he called back.

- - -

She was sitting in her office ten years later when he hobbled in without warning.

“Oh, wonderful,” she said sarcastically, not looking up from her papers. “Court order? DNR? Subpoena?”

“No, even better,” he replied, taking a seat opposite her. “Boredom.”

“Yes,” she agreed dryly, “even better.”

Suddenly a new song began to play from the speakers on the shelf behind her desk, which she’d forgotten was even on. He shifted in his seat noticeably, almost as if he was excited.

“You want me back,” he said suddenly in that cocky voice she was so used to by now. She didn’t need to look up to know he was smirking again.

“Really?” she asked. “And what’s your reasoning for that today? It had better be more creative than that crap you came up yesterday, though.”

“It is,” he replied. He pointed his cane at the CD player. “The song.”

She glanced at him quizzically. “What about it?”

“It’s Cream. ‘Sunshine of Your Love.’”

“Very good. I’m impressed. I’ll even let you borrow the album if you want.”

He smiled, ignoring her. “It was the song that was playing when we first met.”

This caused her to look up quite suddenly. “You remember that?”

“Yes,” he said simply, that stupid smile still on his face. “I told you. I don’t forget.”
Updated A Day in the Life, too lazy to link. I've been watching season 3 of House nonstop for the past two days. I'm officially an addict (although the newest episode sucked, IMHO). Also been playing a bunch of Pokemon. I'm really a nerd.

Glad the Mavs season has finally started. For some reason I still haven't gotten around to posting one of the House fics I wrote a long time back, but I'm too tired to do that now. Oh well.
