"I'm sorry, Professor. I must not tell lies."
So. I saw OotP last night at midnight. Initial thoughts on it? Second-best movie of the bunch, which really isn't fair to OotP - PoA is my favorite movie of all-time, and it'll take a helluva movie to beat that. But OotP was very good, I thought. It started off shaky, but genuinely got better as it went along. I'm glad Yates is returning for HBP.

Disappointments? It should've been about 30 minutes longer. Really, that wasn't a very long movie (look at PotC!), and the book's eight billion pages long! The pacing at the beginning was too fast; more should've been spent on Sirius's death, the prophecy, the Memory scene, and Ron and Hermione. That last one - I don't mean Ron/Hermione, I mean they should've been in it more. This seemed like a really Harry-centric movie, and they seemed to be more minor characters in this. I kind of missed the strong Trio we've seen in earlier movies, but oh well. In hindsight I would've liked to see the Hermione death scare at the DoM, but that's probably because I'm on a H/Hr kick lately.

On the bright side, I thought there was some very good R/Hr stuff, Sirius and Harry's chemistry was perfect, Gambon was much better as Dumbledore this time (angry!Dumbledore just fit), Umbridge was perfect, Grawp was great, Snape was brilliant, and the Dumbledore/Voldemort fight scene was maybe the most amazing thing I've ever seen in a movie ever. Everyone in the theater came out talking about that last one. The scene where Harry was struggling with Voldemort in his mind was great as well (and Fiennes is so awesomely evil), really the most powerful part of the whole movie.

I really enjoyed it, probably more than any other movie this year (hopefully going to see it again soon). So yeah. Woohoo.

Only ten days...

Despite Harry's corny lines, that scene between him and Voldemort did give me chills. Two days! It'll be so weird when it's done.
