Is this pathetic?
Incredibly short drabble set at the end of X-Men: The Last Stand.
Title: V is for Victory
Rating: 12+
Genre: General
Wordcount: 158 (I'm not kidding)
Summary: Finally Jean was happy.
Notes: Incredibly short, but hey, I've been on an X-Men kick recently and had to write this.
A is for apples… B is for… is for…
How did the rest of the rhyme go? Jean couldn’t quite remember. It was a silly thing to think of, though; would these be her dying thoughts? As Logan stood before her, his claws firmly planted in her torso, she knew that it was over. The Phoenix had lost. All the killing, all the pain… it was all gone.
It was funny how the lost memories of her childhood suddenly came rushing back to her now, but there was nothing she could do about it. She was happy, deliriously happy. Scott’s killer was dead. The Professor’s killer was dead.
Finally, they had won. The X-Men would not be destroyed. Their will was too strong, of course. They wouldn’t let themselves be defeated, not now, not ever.
Jean felt everything fading away, but it didn’t matter. She only felt one thing, only saw one thing:
Victory.
