In a world of broken dreams,
And half-said alibies,
I'm fighting for something unknown.
I do not know what it is,
But I grasp anyway.
Apparently,
When you look at me,
All you see is who you want to,
And never the real thing.
I'm sorry,
I said,
I'm sorry I can't be who you want;
Even I cannot change who I am.
Subjected to your fantastic ideas,
My worth comes up short.
Fighting,
Wishing for help but having not the courage to ask,
I lie in wait.
I lie in wait,
And I scream day after day.
This was not the plan I set out with;
Something you must understand.
Raw,
And exposed to the world,
You shove my heart aside;
Devoring with good intent.
The road to Hell is paved with good intentions,
