May he Rest in Trust: a Great Insult from 1925
Quote from an obituary written by William Allen White, an idealist/moral newsman, for Frank Munsey, a moral-less businessman/publisher who contributed to the pattern of media consolidation.
I just love angry insults from figures in the eloquent past.
"Frank Munsey, the great publisher, is dead.
Frank Munsey contributed to the journalism of his day the talent of a meatpacker, the morals of a money changer, and the manners of an undertaker. He and his kind have about succeeded in transforming a once-noble profession into an eight percent security.
May he rest in trust."
