Proper and Other

  • Aug. 30th, 2008 at 12:43 AM
So just recently started college and I was in my English class. Well my teacher was taking roll and she was just randomizing it, like she would say a name and then try to associate the face with the name. So she gets to my name and says, "Lauren?" while looking at me. Which is when I give her a sly grin and say, "Which one?"
"There are two of you?"
"Yep!"
So she eventually figured out who the other Lauren was. So later when she was having some of us read the syllabus out loud she goes, "Other Lauren, read the first three bullets."

I was so tempted after class to ask her to start calling me Proper Lauren. But yeah when she said "Other Lauren" it took all my might not to fall out of my chair from laughing.

Hirata's blog 2008/08/28

  • Aug. 30th, 2008 at 1:36 AM
As I have already said, I'm translating Hirata's entries. I couldn't find time to translate his last entry, but I'm working on it.
It's really hard to do it since I don't understand japanese at all. I'm learning it by myself.
So I apologize if I fail in something. I ask you to help me if I fail, please.

Thank you (≧▽≦) 2008/08/28 )

Thanks to [info]letihughes for help me with the translations!
And thanks [info]fredstiebler for help with english. ^_^'

Please, correct me if I fail.

Mummy?

  • Aug. 29th, 2008 at 11:28 PM
My roommate just walked in the door, and I walked out into the living room to greet her. I looked down on the couch and saw a gas mask. I asked her to put it on so I could text it to my other roommate's boyfriend (he's the one who got me into Who). I just thought I'd share with people who might appreciate it!

Are you my mummy? )

Penny Arcade Expo

As any good wife should, I sent my husband packing for the weekend for the Penny Arcade Expo in Seattle.   Although it's just a short 1 hour ride, he's staying in a hotel to catch all of the action for three glorious days.   (I went last year, but couldn't due to work.....WAY disappointed, as I was able to do fairly well at the Tetris DS tourament.)

I highly recommend you all visit his blog and catch any juicy news he may have from there.....he's twittering on the right hand side of the page for the length of the weekend.    Once he's back, I'm sure he'll be updating with a post on all there was to see.

Looking for these pictures

  • Aug. 29th, 2008 at 11:24 PM

Hey guys,

A month or two ago, I found these icons in a random icon community (I'm sorry, I can't remember which one, so I cannot credit the person who did them.) :

Can anyone comfirm that these are indeed the girls from AAA? If so, do you know where I could find the original pictures that were used to make these icons?

Any tips, ideas, suggestions and/or pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you so much in advance!

Note to Self...

Dear Self:

People sometimes wear black motorcycle jackets with black motorcycle helmets. This does not make them slabs. Stabbing them with forks to check, while entertaining, is not appropriate. Following them to try and unravel their master plan is also frowned upon.

The Smith and Jones defense will not hold up in a court of law.

Guest: John McWhorter, All About The Beat
Dr. Horrible Sings Again, Gets Moist

Dr. Horrible hasn’t given up on his plans of world domination — and neither have his creators. The promised soundtrack so you can actually sing along to “Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog” will be downloadable on iTunes as of September 2, and the next comic is already being written by Zack Whedon.

“The soundtrack is rapidly approaching,” Whedon said. “And all those cut-offs, where the songs would just end,” such as on “Freeze Ray,” when Neil Patrick Harris sings, “I will stop…” just as he’s interrupted and forced to stop singing, “they will be on there as they are on the show. They’re just in a much higher quality, and no sound effects. I sing along to everything and it’ll be weeks before I can stop. It’s driven me mad. Luckily, I can still hold down a job.”

My geek moment

  • Aug. 29th, 2008 at 9:46 PM
I got "Warriors of the Deep" and "Timelash" on DVD today and I was watching the former with the production notes on (as I usually do) and they were talking about how some scenes were not filmed at Ealing but at another studio and, of course, they list the day and year it was filmed:

This scene was being filmed the day I was born )

I had a nice geek moment to lift my spirits on an otherwise crappy day (I miscarried, but I don't want to clog the comm with that...you can head to my personal LJ for the details if needed).

I have recently become obsessed with discovered "FreakAngels," by Warren Ellis.  Written in weekly six-page episodes at freakangels.com, with ocassional vacation weeks where you get a brief letter instead.

Excerpt from this week's letter:

"I bet that some of you thought I couldn't count, or that I'd gone senile, and probably incontinent, and that I sit here in my own filth talking on the internet in absurd and neverending run-on sentences like that time I wrote a narration for DOCTOR WHO Tom Baker to read and he looked at it and ran his finger across it and ussdenly yelled "Warrn, you bastard, this sentence is sixty one words long!" except that this sentence is probably longer by now and in any case that sentence had extensive punctuation and so Tom handled it just fine, not least because, as he told me with great glee when discussing his advertising work, ' I can make whippet shit sound like The Old Testament!"'

Anyone know what this narration was?  And/or where to find it?

Kiva 29

  • Aug. 30th, 2008 at 12:18 AM
Kiva 29 recap )

And with this, I have compiled my list of Things that Definitely Need to Happen in Kiva-

♣ Kengo needs to be a RIDER. If not Kengo, Megumi. If neither of these end up being riders, I'll be pretty pissed off. Mind you, they already have... three? Two at the moment and one more to come apparently. It's looking doubtful. *prays Kiva does a Kabuto and has 34587345435 riders*
♣ The PureBOYS need to team up and do the Kampai dance. Seriously. Nago, Otoya and Megumi's fug brother doing this? I can't think of anything more beautiful.
♣ Otoya and Manly Man just need to admit to their secret burning passion and just GET IT AAAAHN.

The chances of any of these happening is extremely slim. I can dream though.

Anyone else think this...?

Ok, NOT to get into politics AT ALL, but part of Sarah Palin's speech went, "Well, it's always, though, safer in politics to avoid risk, to just kind of go along with the status quo."

Anyone else hear/read that, then add on to it, "Because the status is NOT quo!"?
