Hey hey hey! I am not even thinking about when it was I last posted because I know it has been a while! But I have been bereft of free time (or at least enough free time to write an LJ entry - once I'd finished checking twitter/flist/email and maybe replying to a couple of things, suddenly it'd be after midnight and I'd have to get up in five hours D:) so that's ...that.

But! In between work and work and occasionally going to visit my peeps, I have been rolling around in old fandoms with ix_tab and generally being ridiculous. Also doing some sketches which I have to post or Erinna says it's the toaster for me. :D

First we watched Alien vs. Predator, which is totally the 'teenage alien macks on badass older earth lady' film of my soul, okay. The lack of fic is like a knife in my tender zombie heart. :| ( LEX AND SCAR LEX AND SCAR )

Also the tie in comics are the BEST THING EVER :D :D :D :D


Then we watched the Batman and Robin rifftrax, which is seriously the only way I will ever watch that movie from now on. IT IS SO BAD. D: Which makes me totally bummed because the visuals! And the gay! And the concepts! And the ridiculous universe smushing! But then there is also the ACTING and the DIALOGUE and ALICIA SILVERSTONE IS NOT BARBARA GORDON IS NOT ALFRED'S NIECE GNARRGH ( here, have some Ivy instead of a rant. )

And then ix_tab was like, hey! Remember Once Upon a Time in Mexico? The fic was wonderfully mad and so was the fandom! So then I rolled around in that for a couple of days and watched the movie and read old fic and listened to the soundtracks and then ( Sands. (some gore!) )


And after all that, last friday we got drunk and went to see New Moon and I coined the phrase 'logic battle'. the end.

(tomorrow afternoon I am going to sexpo! I may not survive, in which case ix_tab will have to tell my mother I was beset by a dwarf dressed in a penis costume. good times ahead!)

Today while I was waiting to meet up with sharpest_rose and other peeps in the city, I went and saw Astro Boy! It was super fun and ridiculous and waaaaay better than I was hoping it would be. :D So yeah! Consider this my official recommendation, because it is now the 'tiny boy robot fights giant robots and oh yeah, Nic Cage is his dad, whut' film of my heart. ;___; Robot stories! I love them.

Then while we were chillin' I had an idea to spruce up the art blog, so if you head over there you will see a cool new header instead of the boring default text box that was there before. *___* Ladies! I also love them.

uhhhhhhh now i am going to finish watching the exorcist (hopefully) and then try to get some sleep (ahahahahahah ...hah). yep.

...Ok so - A few months ago, my Mama animated video got pulled from Youtube because Warner Music are dicks. This is as maybe, but tonight Erinna and I were playing around on Youtube and we tried swapping the audio on the video using songs from their open source music library (potentially for fun and amusement. And non-profit).

However! The point to all of this is that we tried the 1812: Overture first because we both thought it would be comedy gold and instead it somehow became poignant and spooky and eerily well-matched. So now I have republished it with the new audio and seriously you guys, check this shit out.

Hello livejournal! I haven't been posting at all because it has been v. hectic around here! Mum broke her leg a few weeks ago and I have not really taken a break since. Now Erinna is patting me. :)

Today I helped ix_tab and hilx set up for Hilx's birthday party, and after a while I decided to make a banner! Results are here. See how many different random fandoms are represented and don't win a prize! (Two of them are their cats.)

Last night we both visited sharpest_rose to help her get ready for an open house at her flat, and after we watched the mst3k of santa claus. I heartily reccomend this film if you like the feeling of using hard drugs but don't want to be arrested. :D

Then we watched Ponyo again to cleanse our poor abused minds. And I drew fanart! ( PONYO )

So! Friday night, aphephobia, ix_tab, naewinter, mum and I went to a Blues Brothers tribute night for Nae's birthday. Which was awesome because a) I drank a margarita as soon as we sat down, b) amused myself by drawing aphephobia and then a sketch of Bette while we waited for the band to start, and c) the food was real damn good. Unfortunately I ate myself into a pork coma and had to go outside for a bit before my insides exploded.

Also a rather funny thing happened just before we were getting ready to leave, where a random guy came up to me and said (in a very thick accent): "Hey! You were doing the painting! Give me your name and phone number!" and so I, being a bit tipsy and about to die of pork overdose said, "sure!" and proceeded to do so. So now I have given a complete stranger (whom Erinna insisted was part of the Russian Mafia) my name and phone number, and am possibly going to either be given a job or get bundled into a passing van next time I am out. Good times for all!

In other art related news, I have finally entered the future by making a semi-professional, semi-official art blog! Mostly for my non-fannish published stuff, but I may crosspost some less ridic fanart there from time to time. :D Currently it has my 'Mama' video, various Wolf House sketches, and the linework for my comic in kylieq's Pretty Good For a Girl issue #2.

Now I am going to head off to watch the whole five seasons of Daria which finally finished torrenting, and relive my teenage years for a bit. ♥

So! It's been a while, I know. Been hermiting for a little while and suddenly it's been way too long since I posted anything!

I've been working pretty solid the past couple of weeks which has left pretty much zero time to catch up on anything but email. Also I have not been getting very much sleep which can lead to many varied and interesting nightmares :| I spent yesterday hanging with sharpest_rose and imjustlikeme while they waited in line for TAI/Anberlin, and saw my other peeps on the weekend which was awesome, so it all balances out. ♥

But! In more fun news I have also been doing a bit of work for http://www.thewolfhouse.net - drawing ads, a short comic for kylieq's zine, as well as a couple of other commissions for various peeps. Which is not leaving much time at all to do any fanart but I've been feeling like I really want to do some lately so we'll see what happens. :]

Alllso I am totally getting excited to see MCR again, which so far means listening to Three Cheers over and over and bopping along ridiculously. \o/

Hello internet! I am here to tell you that sharpest_rose's first book of her vampire novel series is now available, and you should all check it out because it is awesome and even though I am biased (apparently drawing the covers for a book makes you biased! Who'd have thunk), I think it is amazing and worth checking out. Mary is a phenomenal writer and it has been a privilege to work on the series with her.

Also to celebrate Mary is currently writing ficlets for anyone who purchases a copy and comments here.

So yes! I am incredibly excited about it and I hope you guys are too. :D Also anyone who wants to link to the site itself can use the link buttons from here.

I have spent the last two days listening to Wicked bootlegs on endless repeat, looking at Wicked fanart on DA, emoting stupidly to Defying Gravity and playing with my new graphics tablet. (Mostly in painter, which I had no clue how to use before. I still have no clue, but it's been fun to pretend that maybe I might figure it out someday. Woo!)

My art for bandombigbang is up over here! I had a lot of fun with it because I am a giant nerd for post-apocalyptic scenarios and the fic had a really interesting premise. :D

The ankle is also doing a lot better, in that I am able to get around if I am a) going slowly b) in a straight line c) on level ground. The swelling is going down though, as is the bruising so I am happy about that. :D

Also I keep rolling around in this post at thegaystarfish because it is endlessly adorable and I am totally jealous of all the figurines and action figures on display there. *_____*

Here's the deal; yesterday I was unlucky enough to twist my ankle pretty badly, and as a result I am mildly incapacitated for the next few days at least. So in the interest of not wanting to sit here focusing on how much it really rather hurts, I am throwing myself at your feet in desperation.

Ask me to do a sketch of anything. I'm serious, anything. (Even if it's for a fandom I don't know, I can still use google.)

I have been sitting on this (a little impatiently but mostly just excited!) for a while, but sharpest_rose and ix_tab have both posted about it now so I guess it is my turn!

Over the past few months I have had the great pleasure to be an audience for Mary as she works on her latest project which is a young adult book series about vampires, teenagers, sex, blood, violence and punk music. You know, all the fun stuff. >:D

The Wolf House

I keep putting off making a post by saying to myself, 'I'll post tomorrow, when something interesting happens'. The flaw in this plan, being, of course, that interesting things happen and I don't post because it has become easier not to.

But! In order to break this circle of fail, here is a list of five awesome things:

1. bexless finished the third fic in her 'I Have Been All Things Unholy' bandom religious-themed horror movie mashup au! Thing! (If you have not read any of them yet, I assure you it is about a million times more awesome than I make it sound and you should check it out. :D) I also made some art for it, which can be viewed over here. :D WARNING: BLOOD, RELIGIOUS THEMES, SPOILERS :D

2. STAR TREK. :D :D I have spent my past couple of weekends boggling at TOS episodes wih sharpest_rose and ix_tab and discussing exactly how much TOS!McCoy loves space hookers. (hint: a lot) :D :D

3. BANDIT LEE WAY IS OFFICIALLY THE BEST NAME EVER :D (I know I am like the latest of the late with this, but I wanted to officially state how awesome I feel it is. SHINE ON YOU WEIRDO DIAMONDS ♥__________♥)

4. Being paid for art jobs in: Candy, snuggles, insanely long hugs, reveling in others' trauma, and occasionally money. ♥

5. I only just finished reading Umbrella Academy: Dallas not very long ago, however I am officially ruined forever for all other comic books. *___________* Every time I think about it I must kick my tiny feet in sociopathic glee.


And one TWO entirely un-awesome things:

1. 'Up' is not being released in Australian cinemas until september >:(

So on the weekend I managed to give myself rope burn along three of my fingers on my drawing hand, which has been the opposite of fun for me ;__; especially on the day after when I was stung by a bee on my other palm. ;___; why does nature (and ...rope?) hate me ;___;

But before I completed that genius move, I did fit in some doodling! This is one in particular that I really like, not only because the whole thing was very fast and loose (and I did it while on a bus with no major screwup \o/) but my new sketchbook has the best quality paper I have ever used. *___* I am seriously in love with it like you wouldn't believe. Brush pens don't bleed through! The paper doesn't tear when I erase pencil lines! It's nice and a good thickness and sometimes when I'm alone I coo at it. *________*

In other news naewinter's cat has recently discovered that she can sit between my screen and the keyboard (or in between me and the keyboard), so almost every time I sit down at the computer now this is what I get:



I would be more okay with this, but she tends to drool all over the place when she gets excited and there is only so much cat drool I can take >:(

Yesterday ix_tab and I went to see Monsters vs Aliens in 3D! (Which was AMAZING and insane and filled with dumb nerd humour about 50s B-grade horror movies. If you were vaguely thinking about seeing this, GO SEE IT.)

The end result of which is that we have decided it is to be our new fandom. :D :D Even though it has no lj community. or fic. or anything. ;__;

So I made some art! Now to make ix write something. >:D
