BioWe are beings who perceive. Sensation is the building block of perception. Consciousness is perception of our ability to perceive: two mirrors facing each other with an infinite reflection. Imagination is perception where the conscious mind manipulates the senses. We imagine through our senses. Dreams are the imagination of the subconscious or the echo of conscious imagination.
We can become more fully ourselves...beings of perception, consciousness, imagination, and dreams.
The meaning of human existence is a question of human perception. That is all. Philosophy and psychoanalysis overlap in their phenomenology. The philosopher's circle goes from the self to objective to subjective to nothingness and then to the Self.
The question of whether there is meaning in human existence is recursive. For when we answer the question, we negate the purpose of asking the question. When this happens we are left with the Self. This person either has the urge to be more fully himself or to become one with the absurdity of the universe. Transhumanism is the path to the former, what I deem enlightenment of the Self.
Enlightenment is to consciousness as consciousness is to perception. Consciousness allows for the critique and modification of perception. Enlightenment allows for the ability to change how you perceive and how you perceive your own perception. Thus, central to enlightenment is the ability to change your personality, mental abilities, and emotional state. The keys to advancement in these areas are artificial intelligence and autoevolution, the two pegs of transhumanism.
Artificial intelligence and autoevolution can both lead to beings who are smarter and more capable of creating ever smarter beings. It is autocatalytic, a reaction that catalyzes itself. There is a parallel to nirvana in Buddhism and ascension in Christianity because this autocatalytic process leads to the Singularity, a state where intelligence increases vertically (and thus other abilities).
Despite the Singularity, ultimately, the physical laws of the universe might lead to an anti-big bang, thereby destroying space-time; this process could be circular: starting, ending, and restarting an infinite number of times.
