We raised $146 for Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America ... and got loaded to boot!
I'd like to thank everyone who came and bought a portrait from Sarah and blueghost studios with yours truly ... above is one of the test shots from Saturday night. Those of you who bought a portrait should receive the images via e-mail by Saturday and I will post most of them here as well.
Thank you also to Little Fyodor, The Mourning Sickness and The Inactivists!!!
See ya next year!!!
I went to my local Michael's and saw an awesome in store project done by an employee.
They had taken one of the black Halloween wreaths, wrapped it in black boa, and glued eyes to it. The eyes were white silk christmas ornaments streaked with red lines to look blood shot.
This is a variation:

They had the eyeballs paired together, and used different sized pairs of ornaments. I also just saw one made of the cheapy fangs.
I can't wait for the after Halloween sales to start. Hobby Lobby already has 30% off.
Lastly, once I get pictures of my bears I made for a Halloween party auction,
I will post them.

I was wondering if any of you have had personal experience with being let into a bar at midnight for your (or someone you know's) 21st birthday. I know quite a few places won't let you in, and my friend is having his 21st soon and would like to go at midnight.
We would prefer U-District, but close around there would be fine.
Thanks, snark away...

Any comments on them?
I'd like to travel around Asia sometime next year, and think it would be cheaper to fly through a travel agency, and they might also be able to help me with getting direct flights and not going through the same city twice.
Thanks for your help!
ETA: I'm wanting to go to Singapore, Indonesia, and South Korea.
I dont know the city very well, but I love it so much.
My seventeenth birthday is coming up this Saturday.
What are some good places to go? Things to do?
and whats the best day to go out?
I'm thinking about the Can Can restaurant/bar. Is it any good? what performances are best?
And I know this has been answered alot, but what are your favorite boutiques?
I dont have a job, so I have a pretty low budget but I'm looking for cool/hip places (especially vintage) with good prices, nothing to extreme.
ANDD Whats the best time and day to be shopping in Seattle? I want to beat crowds but still be there when everything is open for exploring and not been completely picked through.
I managed to do a firing last night, and I brought a bowl from it to show to the teacher, whom I know through local pottery connections. I wanted to ask her what I would need to change in order to produce one that would actually be appropriate and usable. (I have not found sources for this information, other than actual practitioners of chado.) She examined it, walked off with it, returned without it, and told me, somewhat to my astonishment, that they were going to use it. It came as no real surprise, though, that I was the one who got to drink from it. For one thing, it is really a bit too heavy. Also, I didn’t think the color was quite right.
Still, the mere fact that they were willing to make use of it, even in an informal ceremony, says I’m not doing too badly. The color, btw, wasn’t as bad a mismatch as I had feared: the tea, which was this year’s crop and very bright green, looked fairly nice against the blue and cream colors of the glaze.
After the ceremony I managed to get some commentary and a bit of explanation about teabowls from someone who is visiting from Japan, which was extremely welcome. Someone had suggested that the footring should be taller, and she did say that most of them are; but she also said that it isn’t an absolute necessity. She liked the way the glaze worked into the texturing of the facets, and I was very pleased about that.
This bowl is similar to the one I posted during the summer, but it is not quite as strongly twisted, and the footring is glazed almost all the way down. Here are two photos I just snapped, somewhat hurriedly, with the Canon G6:

Sorry they’re a bit dark; the camera tends to overexpose closeups when I let it use the flash, and I overcompensated a bit. I may try to replace these with better ones at some point.
Cheers

SMP (aka Sounds of Mass Production) has released “Pissing on the Legacy,” a digital-only remix album. The album-- which contains remixes by Albatrosse, Bloodwire, Digital Geist, Databind, Diskonnekted, Hardwire, Penal Colony, Spinefolder, and Stochastic Theory -- is available for purchase now at http://cdbaby.com/cd/smp6
“Pissing on the Legacy,” which is SMP’s second remix album (the first being the 2001 release, “Hacked”) will be available through all legitimate digital download sites in the near future.

SMP is still on hiatus, having performed its last concert more than six months ago in Seattle, WA., at the El Corazon. There are no plans for future releases.

I live a block from there, so it would be super convenient to take my wedding dress there to be altered, but I'd prefer to hear a review from someone before I risk it.
The only online review I could find was positive, but it wasn't wedding dress related.
Or you can just tell me your positive or negative experiences with wedding dress tailoring in North Seattle/Ballard/Shoreline. I do not want to go downtown.
