Yesterday, we hit Meijer's "Supermarket Sweep" style, except with the opposite goal: loading the cheapest food into the cart at a break-neck pace, rather than the most expensive. And I forgot to get printer paper and juiceboxes: GODDAMMIT! A lot of good watching all those episodes did me. |

| | camera obscura | ] | Hi. I think I will write in this again. Jason said if I didn't, he would "unfriend" me, even though we live in the same house. I told him if he unfriended me I would spread vicious lies about his habits and pastimes. Soooo. My classes seem like the best I've had, and the house is really nice. I especially like my US Intellectual History class, in which we spent the first day talking about what an odd duck Ben Franklin was and comparing him to Jonathan Edwards, the Great Awakening evangelist. I wish I wasn't working so much. I stupidly signed up for 10 hours a week at the ugli circ desk, in addition to my job as copy-bitch for my German professor. This may or may not spell breakdown, but I'm thinking may. I spent some time with a planner and my syllabi and realized that I have two midterms and a paper on due on December 13. I am quite glad that I have severed my ties with the cafeteria, although now all of my meals consist of noodles, chicken, or both. |

so. exams. school ending. nice weather. papers. paella. gangrene. etc.
i took an exam in a room that was so hot, the professor gave us the option of leaving and taking it later. but i stayed, dammit. during the exam i came up with a metaphor: "this room is hotter than mama cass in a sauna bath." no shit.
that's all i really want to say right now. |

that's it. |

| | b&s, "seeing other people" | ] | So I got the worst fake ID ever, but it was free, so what the hell. I wish I could scan it and put it up, but I'm lazy. The girl in the picture is like a portlier, latina version of me. Hey, people lose weight and get fairer complexions.... sometimes. I think she's cute, but no one agrees. The only places I'm not afraid to use it are Jimmy's Sergeant Pepper and darkened restaurants. Damn. Losing an hour and having bad cramps and on the same stupid Sunday. I feel the completely undeserved self-pity coming on. I should go do some work now. |

| | leonard cohen, "chelsea hotel no. 2" | ] | I got a job today. It's kind of shitty, but it pays decently and it's full time, which I wanted. I will be painting houses this summer. I spent nearly every day for three or four weeks painting my stepmom's house last summer, so I know what I'm in for. It's kind of hard work, but I also got a lot of satisfaction out of seeing the final product. Also, I inquired about living at Owen (a co-op).
I hope the job doesn't wear me out too much to read, because my summer reading list is really piling up. Learning about Bosnia in my history class has made me want to check out Rebecca West's writings about the Balkans, which are much earlier than the recent war, but seem to be interesting and relevant nonetheless.
And my mom is 50 today. She sounded a little freaked out by it on the phone. I said "It's better than the alternative," which is what we always say in my family. |

i was walking through the union and a girl handed me a stack of coupons for free underwear. i'm now entitled to four pairs if i venture into victoria's secret. the only catch seems to be that it must be cotton underwear. hmm.
oh yeah, also, i saw a guy wearing the kitschiest yarmulke ever. it looked like it was made out of a tourist's shirt.
ok, i need to start tonight's reading now or it will not get finished. |

woo, i will be laying mulch in detroit on saturday! then mister jason will be taken out to order his first legal beer (assuming he consents to this). i am hyped, but it's only monday. my registration appointment could have been better (april 6, 2:45), but i think i can still get what i want. i checked out a shitload of books on germany since 1945 in hopes of coming up with a good "independent topic" for europe since '45. i might do something with guestworkers or willy brandt.
ok, jive turkeys, later. |
